Streisand, Barbra - If I Loved You Lyrics

If I loved you,
Time and again I would try to say
All I'd want you to know.
If I loved you,
Words wouldn't come in an easy way
Round in circles I'd go!
Longing to tell you,
But afraid and shy,
I'd let my golden chances pass me by!
Soon you'd leave me,
Off you would go in the mist of day,
Never, never to know...
How I loved you...
If I loved you...

The best of the best what more could you post.

After the frenetic pacing of "Putting it Together," the opening track on The Broadway Album, this song comes along and you know you are in for a special treat. Recorded in the summer of 1985.

    Noe Berengena Great assessment! 👍❤

This is the very best this song can be performed by anybody, anywhere! I remember the very first time I ever heard it and had to pull over and stop driving! It's perfection! Only Barbra could pull this off!

It's a lovely version, but get real:  The incredible Gordon MaCrae and Shirley Jones immortalized this 30 years earlier in the film version of "Carousel."  Brush up on your Shakespeare, Toots.

+Sharon -- your comment reminds me of listening to the "Back to Broadway" album on my car's CD player. It was a rainy night and I was south of San Francisco on the Camino Real. The song "I've Never Been in Love Before" came on. In Atherton I pulled over and parked. I listened to that song three times, really stunned by it. Then I got back on the road.

Sharon, I so agree with you, and I have for 30 years or so. "This is the very best this song can be performed by anybody, anywhere! "

Like your vast knowledge of good and 'ghastly' music. I shudder to think what you consider 'good music.'

Your move, turd in the punchbowl.

  12. O.... ....

Your appraisal of this song is ghastly.

  13. t.... ....

its like, you listen to a bunch of versions of a song. and then you listen to Barbra Streisand, and that's it. the the song is forever retired.
no one can compare. and she has done it with literally dozens of songs

  14. n.... ....
