One of the reasons this album was such a smash was that Barbra wasn't afraid to go for very contemporary arrangements behind her vocals. This, "Something's Coming," and "Somewhere," were so modern sounding as opposed to the traditional "Broadway" arrangements singers had favored in the past.

"Our meetings are few, and over too soon." There is no better version of "I have dreamed". Making wishes for that future love.

One movie producers heard her singing and thought I bet you she could also act and be effective in acting and oh so right they were, it seems that when people have this much talent it spreads to other places in their personal being.

You might find my opinion to be unusual, but I think the animated remake of "The King & I" is my favorite animated movie that Richard Rich has ever directed!

Avi Greene I find that version to be on par with the 1956 movie with Yul Brynner and Deborah Kerr. I can't resist happier endings

I'm seeing the national tour in a few weeks

I remember the first time I heard this medley, it was really funny, I was on the subway and got goosebumps from the beginning, then all of a sudden (min 2:00) a tear in the eye... Dang...!!!! I must admit it, it is indeed a wonderful medley and interpretation from Barbra...

She is so incredible!

From a man's perspective. The song "something wonderful" is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Maybe because Barbra Streisand is singing it. But combine both together & it is pure special magic.

I think "Something Wonderful" is one of the most beautiful songs ever written, and Ms. Streisand gives it the exquisite performance it deserves.  One of the most remarkable things about the song to me is that it is a touching, sensitive expression of a woman's view of love.  But, the lyric was written by Oscar Hammerstein, Jr.  His ability to understand the mind of the female character in "The King and I" for whom the song was written -- and also create a lyric that has universal appeal -- is testament to his genius.  

I wish this medley could be made into a karaoke. It is beautifully done. Gotta love Streisand!

I couldn't agree more.  I love this song and this is the best version of it.  Barbara Streisand is absolutely the greatest female vocalist ever.

You hear the stories about how Streisand is "difficult" or uber-demanding in her recording sessions, often requiring many many takes to get it "perfect". Then you hear magic and majesty like this and all you can do is thank God for this kind of talent and craftsmanship.
