Stranglers, The - Curfew Lyrics
The enemy has cut down all the power
London south of The Thames s invaded
Westminster is raised down to the ground
The Government Has Fled
The Government Has Fled
It Becomes Black And White
Is It True What They Say?
They Turn The Day Into Night
Black And White Becomes
The Government has fled into thin air
What's Left Of Our Troops Has Joined The Scots
To Form In defense across the North
Stay In Your Homes
Be Off The Streets By Nightfall
It Becomes Black And White
Is It True What They Say?
They Turn The Day Into Night
Black And White Becomes
Germany Failed To Protect All Borders
Had Grown Soft With The American Dream
The Men From The Steppes Delivered Their Vacuum
A New Kind Of freedom
Freedom's A Chain
Maybe I'll Find Love When There's Nothing To Do
It Becomes Black And White
Is It True What They Say?
They Turn The Day Into Night
Black And White Becomes

I'm always surprised by what the stranglers will do and that's the cutting-edge part of it it doesn't have to be heavy rock it doesn't have to be super slow but I'm 62 years old and I listen to this album approximately once a month it's like a treat and I'm an old Ramones fan
Fantastic album.
When I first heard this back in the day...it scared the shit out of me!!!!
just watched glastonbury fucking snowflakes poncing about the shit these whining bastards listen to ffs a fucking durge
This Album "Black and White" sounds fresh like the Day it was released in 1978.
Really creative and awesome Album by The Stranglers.
Everybody will worship
Cornwell's singing delivery is brutal in this song
Sounds a bit like a Dalek
Yup. @Lyri Metacurl

Grey becomes Black and White , looks like The Stranglers predicted a divided Britain in the Brexit age. The Government has fled into thin air.

BREXSHIT
Germany failed to protect her borders - this was written 40 years ago.
I will never forget being 10 years old and listening to this for the first time. It scared the piss out of me.
This is the album for me. When this came out I was totally addicted
YES YES YES
First time I saw the Stranglers live was in a club in Northampton Massachusetts called Raharz in 1978. Not many people knew of them but for those of us who did it was like seeing the Beatles or the Stones back in the '60's.
Seen them in 1977 electric circus collyhurst manchester
Be off the streets by nightfall.
Good advice in these enriched times.
Maybe I find love when there's nothing to do top lyrics
They are gos. Story of Japan ater the UD and Sweden-think they're better by beong cold
Seen them in 77 electric circus collyhurst
They knew.
We're fucked
haaaaaaa!!!!!!
With you on that Mot, timeless
The Stranglers never date, it all sounds just as good today...superb stuff from a creative, innovative band never afraid to take a musical risk.
Martin Rushent RIP - terrifying song and the best last chords of any song you ever produced. Immense power.
damn this is so influential to a lot of later post punk from Magazine to Echo Bunnymen
This is my absolute favorite song of all time! Incredible.
My fave too
The lyrics are frighteningly prescient .....
Steven Stratton That's New Wave for you.
dont get too deep just jump and enjoy for fuck sake
The Stranglers, you can hear some doors, some lou reed, others manifest in there songs but they are unmistakable, and nothing since has touched there mark.
I got to see them in Belfast UH early 80's. They took the risk and played, they had the patrons in a frenzy. Hugh Cornwell stopped the show with" there was a leather jacket left on the stage and someone has stolen it. We will not play until it is returned" it was put back almost before he took another breath and they continued. I thought it was incredible that they could undo a thief with a moral gesture. As some of you may know Hugh was locked up by the authorities for possession, but this man has done humanity a great service. with his lyrics and concepts. God forbid.
@gerardd333 i ws there my friend my first ever concert and i can still remember it and im 49 now, my god wot an expereince and band, it wil stay with me to the day i die! but everybody luvs you when ur dead!
Seem them in 1977 electric circus Manchester I was 15 got backstage and got all there autograph seen them ever since was in hotels in Manchester called the Midland drank with them all night
Hugh cornwall loved the doors he basses is self on Jim Morrisons
Dont talk crap the stranglers are them selfs
I saw them on the B&W Tour and Hugh said, introducing Nice n Sleazy, the strippers had been stolen and anyone in the audience could return them .. they were put back before anyone could stop laughing.

Fuck me what a fantastic album and what a band!!
There are times I think this is the Best Song Ever. just epic.
just count to seven in time and start over again
HOW DOES 7/4 TIME WORK THIS IS HARD TO UNDERSTAND
at 0:20 the song goes over into 7/4. Try counting the 7 beats to the song.
it does not get much better than this
Repeat a lie often enough...the big lie
black and white becomes
12 aout en Bruxelles!!!
A New Kind Of Freedom. Freedom's A Chain.
at there best !!!!
Jean Jacques at his best
STAY IN YOUR HOMES
But if you're homeless...
I remember purchasing this album a couple of weeks prior to starting my apprenticeship in 1978 - I was always a little disappointed that it didn't have the free single with it!! Anyhow, over 30 years after the fact, you really can't go wrong with this album, it had a sound all of it's own - and was rather a cornerstone of punk/new wave in general - good ol days!!
alterpost5t I got the free single still have it. Back then they wanted to press the vinyl one side black and one side black which held up the release date. It was found to be to costly that was the reason for the limited free white single with the album.
Black and white becomes...
