Stranglers, The - Baroque Bordello Lyrics
See a picturesque decay there
Something for all time to tell
See the woman of your dreams there
In a baroque bordello
Keep her in a walnut shell
Has to rub your eyes to bathe you
In a baroque bordello
All the words are written for you
Finds your heaven, finds your hell
Finds your love but keeps it hidden
In a baroque bordello
Seven days and seven nights spent
Climb her rope and find her trailer
In a baroque bordello
In a baroque bordello
In a baroque bordello
Baroque bordello
Baroque bordello

Stranglers, The Baroque Bordello Comments
I was there back then in 1979 at Paradiso Amsterdam (Raven tour). I was there December the 5th, 2019 at the Melkweg Amsterdam.
My first gig, 1982 at Poole Arts Centre...The Stranglers. Nuff said.
Always one of my favourite tracks off the raven album.
I think this is one of the band's best tracks where their music really captures the mood of the song, the whole album was pretty good on that front.
Brilliant song and album takes me back through time to my adolescent years!
Stranglers were in the context of their time and place. So was Abba. Hahahahahaha.
Bloody amazing, The Stranglers !!
Just getting into gadgets after following stranglers for years this is great!!
That dissonant descending lick on the guitar... Wow
Superb bass....superb guitar work awesome keyboards......has to be the stranglers.
Baroque Bordello from Album The Raven released in 1979
In my Opinion The Stranglers best Era. The Album is AWESOME, every Tune
on The Raven is perfectly done. The Album sounds fresh since the Day it
was released.
Wakeman's wish was to speak to Hugh-Beautiful-Genetix is just better than Yes.
AWESOME MUSOS=HE DOES Jarre
Best band. No other band sounds that crazy and perfect.
this is intense
One of the best stranglers tracks ever......
What I really like about The Stranglers is they're not afraid to go out there and do something different while still using all of their musical ability to the full. A lot of indie bands seem to celebrate their lack of skill as though it's a necessary part of kicking against the mainstream. I wish more bands were like it, Magazine comes to mind there really aren't that many.
Best stranglers track evrr
One of their finest moments....most under rated band ever!
Sometime they wake me up at the dead of night.
Stranglers ! great group! (from Sibir with love ))))
fresh or what?
MBH again. These are classic. DH x

I've listened to this for over thirty years and still enjoy it.
same as....never tire..wonderful
Fuckin tune!
Masterpiece!Awesome Live Act!!!
Wow,Dave Greenfield wizzard on keyobards...great.
JJ always said that Dave Greenfield had never heard Ray Manzarek or The Doors before he played with The Stranglers. Does anyone believe this to be true ?
Nein. Das kann nicht sein. Die Parallelen zu Manzarek von den Doors können kein Zufall sein. Gibt ja noch andere Titel, zum Beispiel....
One onanist.

How many great song intros did The Stranglers write? Goodbye Toulouse, I Feel Like a Wog, Five Minutes and this song all spring to mind. What a totally unique, fabulous band.
+Reinemachefrau Toiler on the Sea would be another one, Men in Black, Who wants the world, in fact now that i think of it, nearly all of their songs have great intros, and are generally epic from start to finish.
London Lady, Something better change, Nice 'n' Sleazy, Peaches ?
Down in the sewer is one big intro plus one big outro. Oh, and a nice song inbetween about starting a family with waterrats. Stranglers were brilliant.
Is that a good thing?
The guitar intro is on a par with Pink floyd's Time. Wow.
holy shit :D
Wonderful music always x
Master piece musical genius JJ always said this song was underrated
The band is underrated
this must be up there as one of the best intro's of all time....
Pure class!!
bowie 2016
I love how he sings on the two and all the vocals come in on a different beat. its realy simple yet not many bands would do that. the stranglers were a realy good band. very underrated for sure. noone ever talks about them!
The Stranglers are so much better than their contemporaries The Clash, that overrated, so called 'influential' crap band.
@anonymous person i dont think the clash is overrated, sex pistols is
Captain Rhodes I still talk about them. At 66!
Great band, glad i got to see them live at oxegen a year or two ago great fun
Not with Hugh Cornwell leading, Darling. Not the Stranglers. They supported the Who at Wembley and when the Who came on half had left. They were awesome. His voice. Like saying I saw James Brown's backing band.
i love this track and have since i got the raven lp for xmas aged 11
THERE S A MISTAKE INTO THE LYRICS: it is :" 7 days and seven nights SPENT " and Not : "7 days and 7 nights THERE" !thank you
Absolutely exact! And good like that!!
There was a time that they were just......BRILLIANT.
June 8...June 8....June 8....It can't get here fast enough!!!!! Cobra Lounge, Chicago!
Too right, saw them many times since 1978. Bought this album new with 3D cover, played it to death!!
Different planet.Who cares if they were stonered ! :-)
yes brilliant and timeless
Bass played as a leading instrument, no one else can do that like him.
33 years since I bought this album and it's still as fresh as anything.
Beautiful song..Timeless music...Long live the MeninBlack!
Six years on...and i agree..Hail Hail the MIB
OK class, today's lesson....
One of the most under-appreciated bands in history. Sabotaged in part by their own name, and also by being too good for the majority of the market that couldn't understand anything but trash.
never been bettered, incredible, looking forward to there next gig
One of the very best of those early Stranglers-masterpieces. Along with 'The Raven' and
'Toiler Of The Sea'.
GREAT SONG
See a picturesque decay there, something for time to tell, see the woman of your dreams there in a baroque bordello...
It's almost sleazy on this track which is no doubt intentional given the subject of the song.
what a fucking brilliant opening. class bass n drums
just too good tobe true this song......
The Stranglers have quite a few songs with long intros. This is one of my favorites.
Of all the album tracks that should've been a single, this is it! Beautiful song, and Hugh's dreamy lyrics are as poetic as Golden Brown and the verse structure very similiar.
Love this song, one of there best.
Love it! Especially the churchy organ intro and as always JJB's bass.
What a brilliant piece of music so much talent going on here wonderful
