Stone Temple Pilots - You Can't Drive Me Away Lyrics

On a Monday morning
I'm havin' toast and coffee
I ain't got no sugar
I've artificial sweetener
How I miss you lady
How was that the sugar
Couldn't keep breathin'
If you were to leave me

And you can't drive me away
(She looks good, she always do)
So why don't you wear those Sunday shoes?
(She looks good, she always do)
So why can't you find her Sunday shoes?

On a Tuesday mornin'
Breathin' soft and sweetly
I ain't got no rhythm
Distorted body image
How your kisses kill me
Leveled biorhythms
Couldn't keep me breathin'
If you were to leave me

And you can't drive me away
(She looks good, she always do)
So why don't you wear those Sunday shoes
(She looks good, yeah, she always do)
So why can't you find her Sunday Shoes
(She looks good, she always do)
So why don't you wear those Sunday shoes
(She looks good, yeah, she always do)
So why can't you find her Sunday shoes

And I couldn't bear to be alone
(Keep goin', comin' down)
And I couldn't bear to be alone
(Keep goin', comin' down)
And I couldn't bear to be alone
(Keep goin', comin' down)
And I couldn't bear to be alone
(Keep goin', comin' down)

And you can't drive me away
(She looks good, she always do)
So why don't you wear those Sunday shoes
(She looks good, yeah, she always do)
So why can't you find her Sunday Shoes
(She looks good, she always do)
So why don't you wear those Sunday shoes
(She looks good, yeah, she always do)
So why can't you find those Sunday shoes

You can't drive me away
You can't drive me away
You can't drive me away
You can't drive me away

I really wish this song is in Spotify. It’s really underrated and one of their best songs too.

  5. J.... T....

    We miss you Scott.

  6. J.... T....

This song is *fantastic.* I love STP because of their variety and literal (rock) virtuosity. Should have been released.

  7. L.... P....

    Descansa en paz Scott Weiland

  8. L.... ....

So much melancholy on Scott's voice. One of the best singers of our time, yet another one taken to Heaven by the depression, too soon :(

  9. C.... D....

    I like this song .

  10. T.... ....

    I love this song!

  11. S.... H....

This was discarded from the recordings of "N.4", they decided not to include the song in the album because it didn't fit with the rest of the songs. Dean De Leo wrote this, really an amazing STP track.

    S.... H....

Thank you for clarifying that. I think this would have sounded great on #4. These unreleased songs are quite impressive. I wonder if there is any way someone could bribe Dean or Robert for more hidden tracks lol.

    S.... H....

You seem pretty knowledgeable and in the loop...............do you have any idea or prediction when the 2nd album with Jeff Gutt will be released? I hope its not too far off!

    S.... H....

@mikedoesseo An acoustic album is due this fall!

    S.... H....

@Switch I heard that!! I prefer when they rock out, but I am very excited about that. I'm sure it will be outstanding!

  12. L.... w....

Just the song of this day... Sad day

  13. S.... B....

    Fucking beautiful ❤️

  14. t.... k....

i come back here often, great song!

  15. S.... ....

Jeff Gutt is better than this.

  16. S.... G....

So sad STP lost both their singers, Scott Weiland and Chester Bennington... RIP boys, you made hell of an impact on Rock n Roll

    S.... G....

Scott was STP's singer. Chester was just a wrong fit.

    S.... G....

@romain grosjean Thank you Romain. Chester sung with the band for a cup of coffee and the fans rejected it. I think they made a nice EP and I'm a huge fan of anything Robert and Dean do, but it was not on the level of Scott with the group.

  17. e.... E....

RIP Weiland and Cornell. True talented musicians died but their music lives forever.

  18. S.... C....

Never heard this before! I love discovering gems like this even a year and a half after he died.

  19. R.... T....

Is Beautiful Song..... #R.I.P. Scott Weiland!!!!!!

  20. M.... r....

    Scott Weiland
    1967 - 2015

  21. M.... p....

WTF is this new Love it

    M.... p....

Michael p was released on the True Blood soundtrack. great song

  22. C.... ....

Very neat! I've never heard this outtake from No. 4 until now :)

    C.... ....

Check out "About a Fool", "Samba Nova", "Learning to Drive" and "Heed the Water Whisper" too.... Amazing stuff... STP was the best band of their generation that is why their attempt to fill the void Scott left is literally IMPOSSIBLE.... RIP buddy!

  23. M.... ....

I keep hearing "look at this photograph!" after the first chord or two

    M.... ....

Huh?? I listened many times just now don't hear a thing...

    M.... ....

    Mustard moron

    M.... ....

    stupid asshole

  24. K.... ....

Nine people can't find their Sunday shoes.

    K.... ....

    Or their freaking hearing aids!

    K.... ....

    Make that 12 lol

    K.... ....

@Steve yeah it's like they don't understand real music lol

  25. M.... H....

It sounds like it's from Shangri-la era.

    M.... H....

    Outtake from no 4

  26. K.... M....

Why was this never on an album

    K.... M....

This is just a B-Side to them.. This would be others crown jewel hit of their careers... That's why STP was the best of their generation and Weiland is the last true Rockstar.. RIP buddy!!

    K.... M....

I believe it was on the True Blood soundtrack.

    K.... M....

Have you heard Messages from VR? Isn't on any album but It'll tear your heart out. Scott expressed his pain thru his lyrics and it touches us deep in our souls. Not many human beings have that kind of pull. God I miss him 😩

  27. S.... B....

    😍😍😍😍

  28. D.... W....

Another Golden Voice silenced far too soon, R.I.P. Scott. Thanks for the wonderful library of Awe Inspiring tunes, my friend, I hope you've found your peace Brother.

    D.... W....

Its not really too soon not many drug addicts make it to 48 like he did for the amount of drugs he did im glad he was able to live this long he really was one of a kind but he was cursed with a horrible addiction

    D.... W....

Like John Frusciante they didn't know what they were in store for with the fame and success.... They had an idea but when it all unraveled they both couldn't cope. I hate people who say, "Booo hooo poor rockstar I have all the money and women on the planet worshiping me!! Boo hoo!!"... That's BS because certain individuals like Scott and John aren't all in with debauchery.. They're private, one-woman type guys... The drugs were their way of coping with the mass attention and exposure.. Scott once said he had no idea initially how he could get in the mind frame to, "fool myself up in front of 20,000 people every night that I'm going to entertain them..". Drugs gave Scott in particular the confidence to get up there and believe he could even though he didn't need a thing but his God given talent... So when a certain remedy seems to work for you it turns into a hardcore addiction/habit/disease that become equivalent to having breakfast every morning.. Very complex but easy to explain to an open-mind... Either way, his legacy and music will be cherished forever, we still have that!

  29. C.... F....

Good jam, never heard this before! Love when I find a song by these guys that's this rare! JACKPOT!!! :-):-):-)

    C.... F....

CHECK OUT: "About A Fool", "Samba Nova", "Learning to Drive", "Heed the Water Whisper" by STP .... "How Do You Sleep" by The Magnificent Bastards (Scott does vocals) ... and "Circles" and "Drop That Baby" by The Wondergirls (vocals)... All amazing!

    C.... F....
