Stone Temple Pilots - Kitchenware & Candy Bars Lyrics
somebody told me, I know where to go
somebody showed me, I was last to know
sell me down the river
sell me down the river
sell me down the river
what I wanted, is what I wanted
what I wanted is what she wanted
unfriendly feelings, down on wounded knee
unfriendly reasons, some blind mother's need
sell me down the river
sell me down the river
sell me down the river
what I wanted, is what I wanted
what I wanted is what she wanted
you read the words and it sells you life
they sell their words, but it's all a lie

Stone Temple Pilots Kitchenware & Candy Bars Comments
One of the best STP songs. Favourite band when I was growing up. RIP Scott
Holy crap, this song brings back some memories. I can't believe I'd forgotten about it.
My favorite STP song...so good
Fun fact the cover of this album was a dope bag he got once.
The "12 Precious Melodies" hidden track kills me. So damn cheesy, but awesome at the same time.
Best song by STP.And I say that knowing that they have alot of awesome songs. This song always brings up emotions I felt back then in the ninety's growing up and every band was putting out great music . This song stands out as a classic. With its symphony style and sad overtones .Im speechless
Помним и Скорбим
Memories
that must have been cool.. he will be missed...
My personal favorite
3:42 is what rock is all about, it makes me feel alive!
Kitchen ware and candy bars was the first STP tune I heard from them and I was completely smitten
@ 4:07 emotion explodes from my soul
Weiland was a genius. That dude understood how to write a song. STP is my favorite band for all time. Core and purple were perfect albums.
He didn't write songs on this album. Robert and Dean DeLeo wrote all the songs.
Missing you tonight Scott..gone are the days we all remember so well
This awesome song is about how terrible abortion is. Nothing more or less. If you think abortion is OK you are a sick perverted mindless sack of shit.
Can't believe how the uniformed people in the comments don't have a clue what this song is about.
Scott & the boys came out and said it in like 2011. If you still don't get it, that's on you.
The song is about an abortion Scott and his girl went through.
He agreed to do it, and forever regretted it. It's obvious in the lyrics.
what about the hidden track so effin cool.. any one got any info on the track?
I will always remember and will enjoy his music till I die.
Oh second album album twelve gracious melodies worth listening I do have a question for anybody who's reading this if anybody is reading it was that Scott Weiland at the end singing 12 gracious melodies or was that somebody else I'll be waiting for someone's response
Fuck every one of you fuck heads that say this was "Scott's" music. It was Stone Temple Pilot's music. Cock sucking faggots
SOMEBODY TOLD ME....I KNOW WHERE TO GO.....I WAS THE LAST TO KNOW.....SELL ME DOWN THE RIVER!!! SELL ME DOWN THE RIVER!!!!
The Second Album .
I never did drugs until I hit 36!
Now I'm super hooked to Heroin and Crack cocaine
A little meth too
You should all try them, too!
Wish I started them when I was younger
This song is only known by the true fans and those who understood its meaning. Scott like the other great talents died before their time
My four year old daughter sings this song
how come nobody told me about STP in 1994?
Lol love the ending 🤣
Sail me down the River, where the river goes, only Scott knows.....
I HAVE TO TELL YOU SOMETHING FOLKS THIS IS NOT STP OR SCOTT'S VOICE AT ALL. THIS IS A GUY WHO I DON'T REMEMBER HIS FUCKING NAME BUT STP SAW A PICTURE OF HIM AND JOHN MATHIS AT A VISIT TO A RECORD COMPANY I HEARD, THEY WERE LIKE WHO THE FUCK IS THAT GUY STANDING NEXT TO JOHN MATHIS?? TURNED OUT THIS GUY WAS JOHN MATHI'S NUMBER ONE FAN AND USED HIS OWN MONEY TO MAKE SONGS RELATED TO HIS LOVE & RESPECT TO JOHN MATHIS, STP THEN HEARD THE MATERIAL AND THIS SONG IS ONE OF THE SONGS, THEY LOVED THE MATERIAL SO MUCH AND THEY THOUGHT THE SONG PERFECTLY FIT TO THE RECORD, WHICH FUCKING DOES. THE REST IS HISTORY, THEY AGREED TO PAY HIM 10,000 EVERY MILLION RECORDS SOLD FOR PURPLE. I JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW, IT COULD DEFINITELY BE SCOTT SINCE HE SOUND VERY SIMILAR ON HIS CHRISTMAS RECORDS. LET'S POUR OUT SOME LIQUOR AND WEED SMOKE FOR THE LEGEND SCOTT MOTHERFUCKING WEILAND. 🔥🔥🔥SUCH A BIG ARTIST
That punchy guitar in the bridge is everything, then such sad emotion into the end. One of my first cassette tapes ❤️ Was so sure they put this emotional melodic tune in there at the end just for my own 14 year old girl pleasure. Never cared about the secret song after it, but a necessary cool thing to do in the 90’s 😃😃😃
Great track first heard this track a few years ago and yea two thumbs up.
I am always in the zen moment listening to this song. Tremendous album from top to bottom
Any guy who wasnt given the choice
Because its what she wanted.
And sold down the river.
We live with the burden.
Be at peace little one.
Thank you scott for your lyrics.
I met Scotty in a Japanese restaurant in Soho back in the early 90s. It was just after they'd left the Mighty Joe moniker, so their fame wasn't so astronomical that he was inaccessible, but I'd already heard a Core sample, early on, so I was like, "OMG." Totally, embarrassingly fangirl. He invited me to join him, Robert, & Dean. We sat there, eating sushi and drinking saki for hours, talking the music industry, where the band was headed, love, life. It's one of the top 10 experiences in my life.
The next time I saw him, was backstage at an event in 2003. He was so high, I had to help him to the Green Room. There was never any judgement from me, but I was super worried about. The thing about Scotty, though, was after like 6 hours of talk on a random day in the 90s, he still recognized me and knew my name so high he could barely function. He was full of hugs and "What has your life been like?" and everything. That's just the kind of man he was. Strong, beyond. Wonderful, smart, sweet, funny. Addicted. I stayed with him until I was sure someone was there to really take care of him, but by that time, everyone seemed so tired and annoyed, no one seemed to care much, anymore.
I have to say that I loved that man all his life. I think I'm still mourning the loss. That said, I wanted to tell people what a random nobody from the middle of Illinois' experience was with him. He was amazing. Every minute. Cold sober or high as a kite, he was always a wonderful person! Rest in peace, love.
really so very very nice. best wishes.
I never met him but I saw 3 concerts the first was when they opened up for megadeth in Charlotte ,the blew the shit out the building they killed it,,I remember on my concert ticket was Stone Temple pilots,,I was like who in the hell ,they opened up with dead and bloated, I was instantly hooked on STP forever,,saw them 2 more times in Charleston sc after that. One of the best bands ever
Thank you for sharing, that was an amazing story. I never got the chance to see STP but had always been a huge fan. He had an amazing voice and is truly missed.
sooooooooo enivous!
His memoir he wrote was amazing.
Hope you enjoy them....
My theme song now they've taken everything....my voice, my life, my everything. But they will never own me and my heart.
Is it weird if I think the fadeout beats the other songs from this record? :-)
The album ends with this amazing piece!
These amazing pieces you mean lol
@SuppliedStudent my 2nd album?
Who else just did a drano bump and got the guacamole mainline ready in a snifter?
So sad and intensive song
Almost a little pumpkins like
49 assholes dislikes, fuckers
Amazing.
omnia flumina intrant mare et mare non redundat ad locum unde exeunt flumina revertuntur ut iterum fluant
cunctae res difficiles non potest eas homo explicare sermone non saturatur oculus visu nec auris impletur auditu
A great song. A better Kurt cobain style song of the era with great vocals and harmony by a cool legend. If you heard it in the 90’s chime in. This album front to back rocked. Following core cemented weilands spot in music history. You’d get why this song meant more than it sounds like.
REAL DEAL
Lyrics
Somebody told me
I know where to go
Somebody showed me
I was last to know
Sell me down the river
Sell me down the river
Sell me down the river
Sell me down the river
What I wanted
Is what I wanted
What I wanted
Is what she wanted
Unfriendly feelings
Down on wounded knees
Unfriendly reasons
Some blind mother's need
Sell me down the river
Sell me down the river
Sell me down the river
Sell me down the river
What I wanted
Is what we wanted
What we wanted
Is what she wanted
You read the words
And it sells you life
They sell their words
But it's all a lie
Somebody told me
I know where to go
Somebody showed me
I was last to know
Sell me down the river
Sell me down the river
Sell me down the river

Part 2
The second album
12 gracious melodies
Worth listening
Hope you enjoy them
Like if it's sung to me
Listen to 12 great tunes
Playing on your stereo
Dining and dancing to
Entertain on the piano
The second album
12 gracious melodies
To listen
Include this number
Keeping you company
Well
Getting on the record soon
Grooving on an afternoon
That's on my album too
This album cover
Looks similar like
Johnny Mathis
For Mathis lovers this
Album has his style
Beautiful numbers are
Heard on the car radio
After all records are cut
In the recording studio
My second album
One dozen melodies
To listen
Include this number
Keeping it company
Well
Hoping that this record sells
Singing by your wishing well
That's on my album too
The second album
i diddnt know it was about scott and an girlfriend from when he was young about an abortion
*Music is an emotional release for us all*
*Every song on this album and Core are incredible! Check out Crackerman with the short track before it included. They don't make them like this anymore friends*
somebody told me, I know where to go
somebody showed me, I was last to know
sell me down the river
sell me down the river
sell me down the river
sell me down the river

Highly underrated.
My fav STP song
Weiland...I felt every word of your music. You didnt sing words, you felt and cried them out loud. Im trying to find someone to replace you, but just like your former bandmates, I failed. You can never be replaced.
brings back 90's memories, priceless
....I was last to know..
♥ RIP WEILAND
My second album starts at 4:55
I think it's called "Candybars".
David Steinberg maybe
Sail me down the river😔
he sounds great as a lounge singer lol - a lounge singer who likes to take the piss out of himself....that's why I like his style....not a pretentious asshole, just an ordinary guy, with an extraordinary voice...
Scott's voice is just so flat-out worn and beaten-up, it's perfect for this song....the dude sounds like he's had his insides kicked in by life....like a good old bluesman....fractured, fucked-up, but still hanging in there....just....
Track is super cold man
Why you probably came (4:55)
Never occurred to me until now that the last official track on both Core and Purple involve rivers lol
The second half of the song is soooo 1994
Wonderful song, but I hate that the end track is part of it.
Doesn't take away much from it's power alone, though
great words from the vast majority, the reference to these 'Greats'... There shall never be another.... ...and yeah, RIP Scott Weiland... STP shall live on!...
What a fucking masterpiece!!
So glad this guy is dead. Fucking pussies commenting their gay love here.
ballsdeep get out of here with your negativity... How could you be glad that someone died?
ballsdeep piece of shit
Honestly is there one weak track on purple, much less bad. Can still listen from first to last straight thru if had the time too. GOd/Jesus bless and save all that read this.
rebirth70 blessed
Critics were so eager to throw everyone in the mix that they even thought STP were Pearl Jam-esque. Where? In what universe? Grunge as a definition was cancerous. Music is what came out from those years, not grunge.
Core and Ten share some similarities, fair or not. But from Purple on, STP really came into their own sound. Nothing like Pearl Jam at all.
I remember getting some change from my house to go buy this cd at The Wall music store. I was about 12. This was my first cd ever. I miss u Scott and STP! NEVER forgotten!
Cool. This was probably my 200th album, or something.
I was smoking crack when I first heard this ,I was 16 years old ,I am now 39 and haven't smoked since 1995,freedom from drugs is realistic ,RIP,Scott
yolanda pedro ☺
Juan Acosta congratulations on your recovery my friend 💓
Better smoking weed
Other drugs are bullshit in special the heroin

Happy Sobriety!
I swear to God, I remembered this song as Casey Jones and Kitchen Knives. It's funny how memory can be so wrong. As Willie Mays said," Getting old is a helpless hurt."
Heard this song on my dads old tape, an instant classic for me
RIP,Mr Weiland, your beautiful and wonderful music will live forever!💔
We let baloons off and played this song for my daddy that passed last year
hands down best STP song.......period!!!!!!!
Robert & Dean are greatest bros. in a band. Cohesiveness.
FUCK R&R HOF for passing these great musicians off as PJ spawns.
For Mathis lovers, this album has his style.
Who is Mathis? And what does he have to do with this album? I've always wondered
Nick Salling Johnny Mathis. And you do realize Scott didn't sing the secret song right?
I miss you scott you and youre music played a major role in my life. see you in the next life brouther.
outstanding!
This album , me and my friends, forever !! what a ride !!
Good times to this song playing in my first car, hanging out with my best friends and getting into trouble together. It's been years and we've all grown apart and moved away from eachother but it feels like yesterday. Funny how one song from the past like this gets you nostalgic.
god this has such a led zep feel to it. love it.

"What I wanted, is what I won't have...

perfect bed of music for an emotionally broken man
gibsonman420 Rage hehehe
@Layne Staley Look at the events unfolding in the US let them be hidden in front of you like the deep meanings of RATM lyrics. I have no idea how this comment landed here. I posted it on Born of a Broken Man! It's gone now! L8R Brother
One of the first rock songs I remember hearing :)
📢💽🎶🎤👔🕶👁🚬
