Stone Roses, The - Elephant Stone Lyrics
Burst into heaven
Kiss in the cotton clouds
Arctic sheets and fields of wheat
I can't stop coming down
Your shrunken head
Send me home like an elephant stone
To smash my dream of love
Dreaming till the sun goes down
And night turns into day
Rooms are empty I've got plenty
You could move in right away
Seems like there's a hole
In my dreams
In my dreams
Down through the heavens
Choke on the cotton clouds
Arctic sheets and fields of wheat
I can't stop coming down
Your shrunken head
Looking down on me above
Send me home like an elephant stone
To smash my dream of love
Didn't your bed and bookshelf go
And run run run away
These four walls saw the rise and fall
And your midnight getaway
Seems like there's a hole
In my dreams
Or so it seems
Yet nothing means anything
Anymore

Stone Roses, The Elephant Stone Comments
I thumbs down by accident
Smithsesque guitar
Absolute classic from one of the greatest bands of the last 40 years.
Never tired listening to this band
Not only is it my favorite Roses song, I think it's likely my favorite song of all time!?!
One of their best imo. Just makes you feel good
I much prefer the shorter version. The whole point is, surely, like a Klaxon alarm bookending the song, like an air raid siren. The song's better as an urgent, shorter, punk meets Byrds So you wanna be a rock and roll star style blast. Not meandering with daft little 'spacey' effects in this soft version.
This should be getting so many more views. Today’s kids don’t know how bad they have it. Ponces like Ed Sheerhan are famous (I cant understand why). Then you have your Iggy Azaelia’s and Taylor Smiths. What a boring time to grow up in. I can’t imagine in 30 years you’ll be on whatever internet platforms are big then, singing the praises of these lamewads and telling the world how their music changed you in some way.
Jesus, awful version of a great song. Shame on them for not including the shorter version on this reissue.
Best opening 46 seconds of any song ever
Hooky produced this one. There's no NO without PH!!
Amazing intro, and when the jangly guitars hit....just wow.
I love the harpsichord guitar sound in this one. Or maybe Squire was actually playing a harpsichord.
Seems unlikely but who knows? The man's a genius.
If you want to stump me for all time, then ask me my favorite Roses song.
Totally. I tried to decide my all time fave Roses tune and just ended up with a nose bleed.
It’s like choosing your favorite kid, it’s impossi- Sally Cinnamon

Hey! Check out my acoustic cover of this song! Hope I’ve done it a little bit of justice.
Elephant Stones ala White Doves ...Chicago Bulls...Mitsubishi ...Blue Speckled Mitsubishi 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Here's an Easter egg for you all : Play the song normally and the drum beat at the beginning is off beat. Then play the song again but pause it at 0:33 after the two snare hits- now the drum beat is on beat! Testament to the wonderful drummer that is Reni. You're welcome!
What a tune!!
reni.......
Como faz bem aos ouvidos as misicas desta banda
reni made it what a drum intro
See Teresa May lent her childhood experience to the lyric writing process...
Love it love it love it love it 10000000 times
im my dream !!!!!
Best stone roses song!!
Basically, this song sounds like a resurrection (pun intended) of The Beatles & The Byrds, in the best way possible. The Stone Roses used to be awesome, and it's a shame that they never lived up to their potential.
doesn't sound anything like the beatles. byrds yes. how could they possibly top their debut album? it would be too awesome for mortal humans to hear, their heads would explode with passion.
the drum intro really makes my ears tingle! LOL
champion with the headphones

I like this version! I do on the other hand prefer the shorter version because I like the Wah-Wah guitar. Over all though, you really can't go wrong with either song. The long intro makes this song just as good though. I will never understand why The Stone Roses were never bigger than they were. Especially in America!
America had grunge and alternative breaking..while some of those bands were interesting, we missed out on Ride, My Bloody Valentine, Lush, Stone Roses, loads of interesting acts from the UK. Where i lived in California for a red-hot minute, Love Spreads was big, but not long after Cobain killed himself and Rap and HipHop broke through. This song was and still is my favorite by Stone Roses though... brilliant!
MrERLoner that’s funny because their second album failed in the uk because and suddenly oasis became good and the Roses were forgotten
One Life Vlogs 2nd album was too much like a cheap Led zeppelin and the songs weren’t all that strong (bar a couple like Ten Storey Love Song and Love Spreads)
one of the greatest songs ever made.
How's Verlaine?
Fantastic! :D
