Stone Roses, The - Daybreak Lyrics

This is the daybreak, and this is the love we make
For love us the law here, you've got to know how I love it, yeah
It's more than a mover, you know it takes off fast, or slow
Stone cold wild, bring the love in son, brother, man
True nature child, I think I'll sing it
For Atlanta Georgia, to Longsight Manchester
Everyone ready, so, so willing and able, yeah, yeah, yeah
For the love you make, g'no sis'

She willing to make ya, we all love makers ain't we?
Sister Rosa Lee Parks, lock forever her name in your heart
Forever in my heart

As I sing on this song, someone just got rolled on, hey
oh hey, yeah, wooh yeah

New York City, to Addis Ababababa
Keep on keeping strong, keep on keeping on

So why no stack for black on a radio station in this, the city?
Been going on so long, level on the line, I'm a leaf on the vine of time
Black bones are the original bones
And so this the whole wide world should know, y'all
I came to sing this song in your city

Ooh, for the dreamers
One more for the dreamers, yeah

It all came together on this track

    R.... ....

Your fucking spot on there Robbie 1973, ive always thought that if the Stone Roses were transported back to Woodstock and playing before Jimi Hendrix they would fit straight in, especially with all the Acid Head Trippers who had proberly taken 45 Californian Sunshines each in preperation for Jimi but i think they would find that the Roses would of sent them onto another level far fucking higher than Jimi "meboy" Hendrix could muster up. "Shit, i can tell the crowd are bored with me now, quick, think Jimi, i know, i,ll set light to my guitar, that will get the fuckers".

The Stone Roses - so good at a jam they should join the Women's Institute.

  14. S.... L....

    Oasis were 2D
The Roses were 4K ultra HD

    S.... L....

The roses aren't that much better than oasis

    S.... L....

@Liam Thomas Stone roses has better guitarist, bassist, drummer Oasis has only better singer/frontman

    S.... L....

@Moekka Mies yh I know but I wouldn't say the roses are miles better than oasis like some do.

  15. F.... ....

instead of adderall or key bumps I listen to this song every morning

  16. V.... A....

I chose to get high, to get drunk not to be a dick, or a duschbag, but to enjoy to the full this soul food... Its da only way. Lets party!

  18. V.... A....

I guess: you must be pretty high...

  19. A.... ....

3:15 This conversation between hammond organs and John's guitar when the background plays Mani and Reni is one of the best compositions I've ever heard ...

  20. r.... f....

    Mani's finest work.

  21. D.... D....

    That’s better 😀

    D.... D....

    Kakva kidalica 😀

  22. R.... B....

It got slated out of jealousy as there are no other musicians on the planet capable of playing as good as this. And the best bit is they were probably just jamming and another classic gets born. Give respect where it’s due.🍋🍋🍋🍋 Adored

    R.... B....

Not jamming! According to wikipedia they spent 347 ten hour days working on the album!

  23. C.... G....

Supposedly Reni was a natural with the drums like Buddy Rich. Nautrally musically gifted actually. His background vocals made it sound like their lead singer wasn't awful, and supposedly he is great on guitar as well. As a drummer myself, he has a groove, flow, and restraint that is very hard to teach. He could easily overplay to show off, but he plays for the song. As for him being the most naturally gifted drummer since Keith Moon, as PEDOr Townshend claims, that's bs. Steward Copeland, Steve Gadd, Vinnie C.,Neil Peart, Steve Smith, etc. Dude needs to look into music more instead of accessing child porn sites multiple times.

    C.... G....

Christian Gasior Haaa...spot on Christian. Love your choice of drummers too. Phil Collins' early work with Genesis is incredible mate. Complex n busy as fuck n perfectly complimenting the songs.

  24. N.... H....

"black bones are the original…" - The Cucked Roses

  25. d.... l....

Its actually a call to the awakening…. All these years i had no idea. Then i become awakened and to look back and know they were trying to tell us the whole time. For those who aren't born again/awake, just wait till you get there and the flower unfurls before you…. Its so intense in its beauty you are never going to be truly sad again.

  26. w.... ....

SC being released today - just imagine that ! Haven't heard even half as brilliant guitar based album in years and those thick jurnos in mid 90s slashed it just because it wasn't the same formula again.

    .... ....

    Well put.
There's lyrics to the guitar solo which, added to the bass and the drumming, adds up to everything I've ever tried to write when pen meets paper.
    One more for the dreamers.

  28. S.... A....

The album is fantastic and always will be. Shitheads who slated it are either:
    a) Knobhead's who know shit all about music and are incredibly 'stuck in their ways'. ... or
    b) Bedwettin' sheepletons who prefer to follow and 'go-with' whatever some other knob-head has first said off the bat...
    Fuckin' wicked tune!!

    S.... A....

Or people who liked the sound of the first one and didn't like the sound of this one, since they def went in a different direction.

This is so groovy, great funk beat. Love the Stone Roses.

  32. K.... M....

When a band doesn't change they get slated......

    K.... M....

    what ya saying??

  33. M.... S....

insanely good song, I just wish they would do this live on Saturday. Don't think it'll happen though. :(

  34. S.... L....

the lyrics touch so deep to me, coming from where people drag your dreams down by who you are. and by your differences you are hated on for reaching to your dreams. the music is as always the craft that made such an incredible band of musical legends. -from the south, USA.

  35. e.... ....

5 minutes onwards has more than a hint of zeppelin about it and 5:30 is very similer to heartbreaker

    e.... ....

    Dazed And Confused more like...

    e.... ....

Yeah this album was classic 70's hard rock influenced. Always thought Zep were innovative and more bands needed to incorporate some of their style.

  40. j.... s....

loved this album when it finally came out

  41. s.... c....

    Spettacolare e basta.

  42. t.... ....

The album is epic. Not sure why it got slated to be honest. :-(

    t.... ....

tylerdurden9803 because people don’t move with the times. This song and album are awesome.

    t.... ....

Probably due to most of the fans being as thick as shit n dead inside. It's a cracking follow up to their stunning debut.

    t.... ....

Because half of the album is fucking awful, half of it is excellent.

    t.... ....

Because Squire had dropped the musical invention and subtlety of the first and too much cocaine and Jimmy Page has gone to his head. It’s great, but it’s just not the mindblowing ‘daybreak’ of the first album

    t.... ....

Love spreads is the only decent song on here.

  43. J.... D....

The keyboard in this makes it sound like a Supertramp song

    J.... D....

To me the keyboards are more reminiscent of Procul Harem and other old oldie bands like that, but great whatever!

  44. A.... ....

    WOW! Now thts jammin!

  45. M.... ....

Shit Reni can drum backer'ds as well as forrards.

  46. l.... ....

this is so tight... whenever I hear it I just think.... WOW!

  47. J.... ....

Wish I could drum like Reni.  Or even 1/10th as good as Reni.  Just TRY to keep up with him on this.  F-in Amazing.

    J.... ....

This is one of the greatest bits of drumming of all time eh...I am a drummer. This track is such fun to play. This track is a fucking masterpiece.

    J.... ....

    You cant!!!

    J.... ....

I wish there was video footage of him drumming this. Does anyone know of any?! I've never been so captivated by watching a drummer drum! He's amazing. So expressive, he drums with such feeling and fluid motion. I'm so sad it looks like we'll never get to see new footage of him drumming again, or being interviewed for that matter! From what I have seen and heard of him he always seemed like such a lovely bloke with a great sense of humour too. One interview I heard, he was the only one of the band to express compassion and understanding for Kurt Cobain. I guess maybe he too is sensitive so avoids the fame mill. I wish there was a way he could reach out to his fans tho. I miss him, there's so much I'd love to ask him.

  48. P.... ....

    ARRRGGGGGGG so Fuckin Good

  49. L.... A....

the big instrumental outro with the keyboard remind me so much of the Doors. this song is fucking ace, and so is the album.

  50. m.... ....

    @jakeenan Heeeeeeeeeee'ssssss BACK!

  51. J.... B....

    @awowsmatow AWWW COOL MEMORY!

  52. r.... a....

This song is really amazing fellas!

  53. a.... ....

Every time I hear this album it reminds reminds me of humbug sweets because I remember being 13 on my bed doing my homework and listening to this album tucking into some pre christmas sweeties.I love the way good music stirs the senses like ordinary music never will.

  54. r.... p....

i agree jakeenan-this album was the best for me-not just the drummer...everything and everyone-hence the late comment-im just remembering how much this album rocks! go go stone roses! modern music needs a wake up call!

  55. s.... ....

@MrThreshold2009 You make a valid point about Reni not being recognised in any lists, but technically speaking, this isn't actually a very complex piece of drumming at all. It does, however, require incredible timing and independence of both hands of feet - there aren't drummers who could play it this well (sad to say that I'm one of them!), however Bonham was on another level with many of the drum-riffs he played with LZ. Check out the drumming in Fool in the Rain, as an example... :)

    s.... ....

    Great post @stroketheboat

  56. r.... ....

    one person is deaf

  57. j.... ....

@MrThreshold2009 Shane Meadows is apparantly filming the shows. He's in talks with them. He said it's his dream cos he missed the Spike Island gig cos of a bad acid trip. All the boxes are being ticked. A new album has to be on the way too. Fingers crossed.

  58. j.... ....

@wildj611 It sure is, dude! Never thought it possible. There's a lot on his shoulders- probably the most out of all them. Sure he can handle it though. He's got a bit of time to get his chops back in shape.

  59. T.... ....

Not So Keen On Second Coming - But I Really Like This

  60. r.... ....

the person that disliked this has no ears

  61. L.... ....

This is real rock n roll.

  62. C.... G....

Reni is a genius, such a underated drummer, and also has some of the best backing vocals lay down by a drummer ever, hes the whole package, supposed to be a demon on the guitar too!! What cant this man do!!! cant wait to see him once again play the drums at Heaton Park!

  63. J.... P....

thank god there back, no one grooves like these. exactly what music needs right now and maybe these being back will bring more to follow and fuck bands like the wombats off our screens! x

    J.... P....

Back ? When was that then

  64. b.... ....

Damn... Reni is slaughtering his drum kit in this song. Amazing.

    b.... ....

    He's the GOAT

  65. j.... ....

The so-called crap second album. They're having a laugh. Most die-hard Roses fans play this album way more than the first one. I'm not saying its better its just that it has a touch of everything and sounds fresher.

As for Daybreak, I play it more than any other Roses track. I tend to play it on a 3 or 4 time loop, and mostly bail out back to the start at 5.09. Reni, man, what can I say.

    j.... ....

    +jakeenan
It's a good album, but the first album was far better: it is one of the greatest albums with "Pet Sounds", "Revolver" or "Forever Changes".
The Roses forgot what made their magics: pop melodies, vocal harmonies.
Too many songs with 3 chords on the second album.

    j.... ....

@prospero55b they didn't forget their magic on this album. They tapped into a different kind of magic. It's down to a matter of taste. If this is not a style of music you prefer, it won't be rated well. But it's a brilliant album.

    j.... ....

Truth. Both albums were unique in their own time, it’s just that they pioneered a sound that were imitated widely on the first, this sound never quite took. But I listened to this far more than their first, and I loved their first album.

    j.... ....

    thank you

  66. m.... ....

@MrThreshold2009 I like this he he

  67. G.... ....

    This song drives me mad!!
I love the Roses, but this is probably one my favourite song EVER!!!!!!!!

  68. m.... ....

@MrThreshold2009 Now then... not Reni's original style of drumming.. its different from the 1st album.. very Bonham feel to it.. with the hi hat keeping the time.. ok ill agree and take what your saying on the rest as fact.. still havent looked it all up ha ha ha.. but your answers seem knowledgeable

  69. m.... ....

@MrThreshold2009 Thought he walked half way through coz the album took so long to make... ill take your word for it then.. still awesome an album..

  70. m.... ....

@MrThreshold2009 If im right and i havent looked but im sure Reni walked out on this album so im unsure of the drummer.. could be wrong.. i aint gonna Wiki it.. lol.. using my 1994 memory... ??

  71. m.... ....

@SLOWEYSHEFFIELD And was slated on release!!! bastards.. its AWESOME!!! always was in my eyes...

  72. m.... ....

This is so fucking groovy. Lovin' it!

  73. M.... ....

This is really unique, like some kind of progressive indie stuff.

  74. G.... ....

This one totally blows my mind!! Oh... right, not only this one!!!!!! :D

  75. p.... ....

@me19276 It is definitely Reni, luckily the Second Coming album was released before he left the Roses.

  76. L.... ....

@secondcoming90 I just know that he had to leave the bad due to illness, either his or families...hope all turned out well for him though.

  77. L.... ....

correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Reni did the drums on this track...

    L.... ....

You’re wrong bud. Was Reni 👍

  78. t.... ....

One of those songs you never want to end

  79. L.... S....

Reni's drumming groove is fuckin mint!

  80. w.... ....

    a FANTASTIC groove!

  81. u.... ....

back in 95 i thought this was just a jam that not one of the four had the balls to say was not good enough. i was wrong. it has stood the test of time and much underated. second half much weaker than the first though

  82. l.... l....

my fave song ever xx one more for the dreamers

  83. S.... ....

Second Coming all in all isn't that bad an album really, but when you've got such a brilliant debut as the Stone Roses had to follow up to, you can understand why it got some flack when it was first released.

Had it been some other band's debut lp, chances are they'd be the darlings of the press and the album would fly off the shelves easily enough...

  84. r.... ....

@jakeenan Definitely. Reni was the best musician in the Roses.

  85. =.... ....

Did any rock band recorded pure jam song in the last 15 years like this one?
Ok, I know the answer: NO.

  86. j.... ....

Second Coming is a fantastic album. It still holds up. Shame Reni was under-used. He at least got to leave us with one of the great drum tracks of all time in Daybreak. Swing to burn, baby. A genius. The biggest loss from the whole Roses break-up saga. We can only dream of what a Reni solo album with friends could've been like. Make a comeback Reni, give us that album!

  87. A.... S....

your an absolute twat ... ian brown dances wildly onstage ... hence being called the monkey king

  88. D.... ....

    that riff makes me cum

  89. R.... ....

    LISTEN... its fucking brilliant!!!!!

  90. J.... D....

Keep thinkin i'm about to hear "I'mmmmmm gonna break right into heaven!! "

  91. R.... P....

Yes Kieth Moon is a better drummer because he had his own unique sound and it's was cool when he smashes up his drum kit, he also has the better personality.

  92. h.... ....

ps: Ian Brown & John Squire should hav wrote the songs together cuz they both very talented like on the first album but this one is more squire which is still good but its lacking because of that as well

  93. h.... ....

U checked out THE STOSE ROSES [Waterfall] performance on Tony Wilson's show? where Reni just goes onnn one!!!!

  94. h.... ....

still K MOON for me miles above, but I suppose we both intitled to our opionion no one can say we litsen to crap cuz they both are great!! but what do U think of this dude RENI???? top ain't he????

  95. h.... ....

K Moon!!!!!! much better then Bonham

  96. N.... P....

i've been looking in frank zappa, i guess it's kind of jazz-rock.. any other idea?

  97. N.... P....

Superbe song. I like this type of songs, alongside with breaking into heaven, something burning, one love, fools gold, straight to the man...
do u know about any band that play this genre of music?

    N.... P....

Happy Mondays are possibly the closest.

  98. J.... S....

    Hah. I live in Longsight.

Jesus, Reni's one hell of a drummer. If anyone ever tells me again that Bonham is the best ever I will call them "stupid".

    J.... S....

    Bonham is the greatest ever......
