Stewart, Rod - I'll Be Seeing You Lyrics

I'll be seeing you
In all the old familiar places
That this heart of mine embraces
All day through

In that small cafe
The park across the way
The children's carousel
The chestnut tree
The wishing well

I'll be seeing you
In every lovely summer's day
In everything that's light and gay
I'll always think of you that way

I'll find you in the morning sun
And when the night is new
I'll be looking at the moon
But I'll be seeing you

my grandma loved this album. Me too!

For all those bashing this arrangement and Rod's version, take a musician's perspective. Perhaps this is the music that Rod really enjoys? He has made his millions now and has his knighthood. He probably doesn't care about people's opinions now. If he wants to sing what truly makes him happy or content then who's to stop him? Regardless of it's quality, the man should be left alone when also considering his contribution to other music genres...

No, I won't see you again anywhere.  I don't love you.  I am getting honest.  This has been fun, a lot of fun.  I move into your music which I love.  Let me be tender.  But I have to be honest.  I love Dennis and I always will.  Then of course you and I are creating lightning and thunder and after noon showers. Good cosmic signs.

  54. r.... ....

never expect he can be this good even with old but never forgotten songs...thumbs up for you mr. stewart

  55. A.... B....

    Pezzo eccezionale!

  56. e.... ....

In my opinion, Stewart should have just stuck to rock/pop.  I've listened to lots of his treatments of these standards, and he lends nothing to them.  And the arrangements!  OMG, they're so corny and clunky, they sound canned, like they were ripped off a karaoke cd. The only reason these recordings are popular is that people (mostly women) who dig Rod will dig everything he does, good or bad.

    e.... ....

    @phamus
I agree that the music should be preserved for future generations.  However, the issue here is that Stewart does the great standards no justice.  In fact, with his oversimplified, campy arrangements and emotionless delivery, he desecrates them.  He should just leave them alone.  There's nothing worse than pop stars who think they can sing jazz.. In most cases, NOT!

    e.... ....

@epf1961 Again your opinion. Listen to Durante's arrangement or Tony Bennett's this is Rod Stewart's style it gets people to listen and maybe they discover Tony.
    Lighten up and enjoy it.

    e.... ....

    @phamus
What do you have against opinions?  This IS my opinion-- My very first post here starts out "In my opinion"..

In music, there are no absolutes, no rights and wrongs.  But there are varying degrees of quality, and it's the function of qualified opinions to discern what constitutes high vs. low quality.  The masses tend to accept what they're fed, regardless of the quality.  Most music that has mass appeal does not appeal to me, because my ears have been trained to be more selective.

I listen to and enjoy what I feel is high quality. As one who has listened in depth to the greatest jazz recordings for decades, and who has performed jazz professionally, both vocal and instrumental, for years, my opinion is qualified.

You yourself just said "..maybe they discover Tony.."  That would probably be a very good thing.. When one hears Bennett interpret a song, one laughs, one cries.. You feel the song, because HE feels it and transmits that energy to the audience.  Stewart doesn't interpret:  He chants, he sing-songs his way through a tune in a distant and non-involved manner.  There's nothing genuine, nothing except bland mediocrity.

Unfortunately not enough popular artists today are exploring the classics, so I'll give you that at least Stewart is doing that.  It's just that he happens to do it very poorly.

Perhaps HE hasn't discovered Tony :-)

    e.... ....

@epf1961 Opinions are like .....,but  this should make you happy Tony agrees with you http://www.examiner.com/article/tony-bennett-slams-rod-stewart

Stewart is so upright and upstanding...He digs what this is all about and that's why he lends class to the classics...So good...I love you buddy, you make me proud of the sixties generation of singers...Keep being so cool and sweet man...
