I don't know why this song wasn't more popular it's one of my favorites apparently not one of rods favs. It wasn't on any greatest hits and didn't do it much in concert I saw him3 x's in the 80s actually loved that whole album - every beat of my heart-1986----I think I found it on 1 other album it was a double album I don't think it's available anymore

Nehm´ ich ihm nicht ab! Kann er ja gar nicht gesehen haben!
Und trotzdem ist es einer seiner größten Erfolge 1972 (Platz 90 der Rolling Stone 500, Goldene in GB)!
Ein Sänger muß ja nicht alles selbst erlebt haben!
Für mich ist unbegreiflich, warum "From here to eternity" so unbekannt ist!
Ich finde es eines seiner schönsten Lieder! Regelmäßig bekomme ich Augenwasser, wenn Amanda sich (mehrmals im Refrain, aber letztmalig) zur Presse beugt und ein letztes Mal fleht: "Ich liebe ihn! Von hier bis in alle Ewigkeit! Für immer! Bis wir uns wiedersehen - in einer besseren Welt als dieser!"

So many good songs ... but yes , this is right up there !! .... sad story ... probably a true story .... hard to make that stuff up ...

Early Thanksgiving morning back in 86, i wrecked my car with this song playing in the cassette deck. That night would alter my life forever, mostly physically. Two hips and an ankle later.....and I will never forget this song. I'm now 44 years old, married, two kids and this old song still has so much meaning. Thanks for posting it. It's nice to see other people appreciate it also.
