Stevie Wonder - We Can Work It Out Lyrics

Try to see it my way
Do I have to keep on talking till I can't go on
While you see it your way
Run the risk of knowing that our love may soon be gone
We can work it out
We can work it out

Think of what you're saying
You can get it wrong and still you think that it's alright
Think of what I'm saying
We can work it out and get it straight, or say good night
We can work it out
We can work it out

Life is very short, and there's no time
For fussing and fighting, my friend
I have always thought that it's a crime
So I will ask you once again.
Try to see it my way
Only time will tell if I am right or I am wrong
While you see it your way
There's a chance that we may fall apart before too long
We can work it out
We can work it out

Life is very short, and there's no time
For fussing and fighting, my friend
I have always thought that it's a crime
So I will ask you once again
Try to see it my way
Only time will tell if I am right or I am wrong
While you see it your way
There's a chance that we may fall apart before too long
We can work it out
We can work it out

Stevie Wonder We Can Work It Out Comments
  1. k.... ....

First heard this when it first came out and thought it interesting that it was released not long after the original. But that used to happen a lot back in the day. Love good musicianship

  2. R.... M....

Back in the days when Stevie did covers

  3. M.... ....

Its 2020...this song still jams hard.

  4. G.... C....

Géniale reprise des Beatles !! Excellent !! Great Cover !! ...In my Compil ' !! :)

    G.... C....

Semble que Stevie pourrait transformer n'importe quoi en OR !!!
    Merci d'être ici

    G.... C....

    Une icone !!

  5. s.... f....

I love Stevie's version the best. He added that soul to it! 🎵🎵🎵🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶

  6. D.... B....

The harmonica...whew! Whenever I have played this while driving--lead foot. LOL

  7. J.... B....

I love Stevie. I’ve heard every song he’s done and I’ve covered everything from Fingertips(which is why I learned how to play the harmonica, including the chromatic)Tuesday Heartbreak,Another Star,Go Home. Anyway,I have to say he pushed the envelope in the last verse. He should have ended it with the harp solo. Pushed his range and oversang it a little at the end;he was still young though. I’d have loved to hear Ray or Donny sing this

  8. N.... ....

It's good, but not as good as the original Beatles version

  9. A.... B....

    Kicking and Screaming anyone?

  10. C.... M....

    #FlashbackFriday

  11. S.... E....

This is possibly the greatest song in human history! 😍😀

  12. P.... C....

One of his favorite cover said Paul

  13. H.... J....

Colbert brought me here, but this cover is complete shit. :)

    H.... J....

No, it's your opinion and musical taste that are complete shit. This cover is pure genius.

    H.... J....

Ok, I see this conversation going nowhere good. Having differences of opinions are one thing and I appreciate the passion but the language is not acceptable to ME. It can only lead to worse comments. First, I do not know how I let this pass but it did. As you can see, the rebuttal that it did get leads down that path that I just spoke of. Any more comments that further fuel a fire will resort in removal of the entire post. This channel WILL NOT become hate and anger filled over something as simple as a difference of opinion. I hope everyone will enjoy the content, whether or not each song is your choice as the best or not. My main concern is the language that is chosen that can start the hate filled ball rolling. I appreciate EVERYONE that comes here and hope that the music keeps up happy.

  14. C.... S....

The rhythmic change he made to the chorus ENRAGES ME. It takes away so much of the appeal and just sounds so.....square and boring. SW is an amazing musician but goddamn did he drop the ball here

  15. S.... ....

i came here cause someone tells me this was the best Beatles cover... Piffle

  16. B.... W....

This can't even touch Elton John's 'Lucy....' give me an hour and I'd come up with 50 covers that beat this garbage. Gd Nigerian worshipers.

  17. b.... ....

Oh my goodness, this is one of the best Beatles covers ever. Genius.

  18. M.... G....

Colbert was wrong, the correct answer is Got to Get You Into My Life by Earth Wind & Fire.

  19. l.... s....

    COLBERT IS DEAF

  20. N.... P....

Its a great version but best Beatles cover? Debatable!

    N.... P....

Nathan Parsons whats the best you think?

  21. m.... ....

I came here after hearing this song referenced on the Steve Colbert Show lol. I'm sure others will come here for that reason too... YouTube is amazing LOL

  22. b.... ....

Colbert was right, this is pretty damm good!.

  23. R.... C....

This might be the best Beatles cover out there it’s at least my favorite

  24. D.... O....

Only Stevie Wonder could take a Lennon-McCartney song and make it his own. Power.

  25. w.... ....

Stephen Colbert brought me here and I shall always be thankful 🙏

  26. x.... ....

    stephen colbert was right

  27. D.... H....

Hello, friends of Stephen Colbert :)

    D.... H....

    @Trekkie Junk
    Otis Redding "Day Tripper"

    D.... H....

By hearing and Hearing by the Word of Yah.

    D.... H....

    Me Too !!!

    D.... H....

@Trekkie Junk If you don't think Stevie adds anything to it of value, you must be tone deaf. Music is clearly not your thing.

    D.... H....

LOL yep, busted. Wish it was better though :( both are geniuses, but maybe Stevie should have chosen yellow submarine or something hehe.

  28. G.... G....

    Here from Colbert

  29. S.... L....

Paused the Late Show video to listen to this.

    S.... L....

    Lol sameee

    S.... L....

Ha! So did I. So glad I did😊

    S.... L....

    SAME! No regrets!

  30. P.... J....

That eighth-note shift on the chorus kinda throws me off though

    P.... J....

Patty J. Ayers Yeah it pisses me off so much that they didn’t do the waltz 3/4 at the end of each chorus!!!!!

  31. T.... P....

Stevie: Try to see things my way

    Me: *closes eyes*

    T.... P....

    "Hello darkness my old friend"

  32. D.... F....

    Stephen Colbert brought me here

  33. C.... S....

    I like it

  34. I.... A....

    Owning the songwriters here.

  35. B.... C....

    impossible not to dance

  36. M.... J....

Played along paul and john in last time they played together .

  37. o.... b....

I like this remake, but nsync also did a cover and is amazing

  38. D.... B....

13 years old when this came out also i was 5 years old in 1963 when Finger Tips came out !

  39. S.... A....

    Interesting! Love me some Stevie!

  40. j.... g....

This is the best Beatles cover ever made next to I wanna be your man by the Stones

    j.... g....

No, what makes you say that?

    j.... g....

    OldschoolMusicJunkie sorry never mind

    j.... g....

    Eleanor Rigby Ray Charles

    j.... g....

Can't forget Joe Cocker's cover of With a Little Help From my Friends or Wilson Pickett's Hey Jude!

    j.... g....

Not a cover for the Stones, John and Paul wrote it for the Stones, the Stones recorded as their 2nd single, the Beatles recorded their version with Ringo on lead after the Stones release.

  41. D.... ....

Never bet against Stevie Wonder--no matter whose work he is remaking. Do not bet against the Wonder.

  42. J.... R....

Stevie said "try to see things my way..." 😂😂😂

    J.... R....

Well, he's not wrong. He see things in his own way.

    J.... R....

    @Pandu Widagdo yes eternal blackness

    J.... R....

    "Hello darkness my old friend"

  43. N.... L....

Stevie blew the Beatles out the water with this rendition. Stevie has always made music that touches my soul.

    N.... L....

No blowing anybody outta the water. They’re both fabulous versions, one not better than the other.

    N.... L....

As great as Stevie Wonder is, this did not surpass the original by a long shot.

  44. G.... G....

It seems to be the opposite..this Is the original and Beatles made a cover...lol

    G.... G....

Interesting story. Legend has it that one day Ringo was so high that he telepathically transported into Stevie Wonders mind as a child, gained all the inspiration needed to write the lyrics of this song, then teleported back and using a beetroot, scrawled the words on the ceiling of the recording studio for John and Paul to sing.

  45. D.... B....

this song went to #13 on the pop charts in 1971!!!

  46. C.... N....

"We can work it out, we can work it out." ❤It!!!

    C.... N....

    Thank you OldSchoolMusicJunkie!!! 🤗 I ❤ you too!!! 💯

    C.... N....

@Crystal Navy All day, every day.
Your being here is a blessing! Enjoy the music!!!

    C.... N....

    "Thank you!!!" ❤❤❤ 👏😺

  47. G.... ....

Amazing cover, still prefer the original though.

    G.... ....

    Cuz it's the beatles ! Lol !

  48. G.... F....

One of the best remakes of a Beatles tune,go Stevie!!

    G.... F....

Yes it is. Chaka Khan also made her version, but it don't come close to stevie's.

    G.... F....

Joe Cocker i think gets 1a and Stevie 1b

  49. b.... g....

not too often is a cover version better than the original

  50. J.... J....

As much as I got mad love for The Beatles, Stevie's version will break your jaw!

    J.... J....

Stevie definitely put his stamp on it

    J.... J....

James Johnson Yeah,The Beatles are definitely my fav, but Stevie killed it on this particular Beatles track, but if you think Stevie’s versiones the best, check out Chaka’s version, puts Stevie’s and the Beatles to shame. All three are good, but Chaka definitely is The Boss on this Beatles classic!!!No IF’S an’s or But’s about it!!!

  51. w.... U....

Not that I don't love the Beatles version of this song, but I love this funked up Stevie Wonder version even more!!!!

    w.... U....

Stevie definitely put his stamp on it.

  52. B.... W....

Beatles song but stive wonder gives it the the punch. Nice remake. Billy the kid from motown Detroit Michigan

    B.... W....

Welcome! What side of the city are you from?

  53. c.... g....

    Terrific!!!!! Thanks Stevie!!!!!

  54. F.... S....

    I love this song

  55. E.... L....

Anything Stevie does is awesome. I've loved him and his music since the first time I saw him on Ed Sullivan. What a talent!!! As far as I'm concerned, no one compares.

  56. M.... K....

10/28/18:  Good post.  Stevie can even make Lennon-McCarthy compositions be soulful/funky!

    M.... K....

Thank you, that is so true!

    M.... K....

You haven't heard many Lennon-McCartney songs, have you, or else maybe don't know what 'soulful' and 'funky' mean

    K.... N....

Please explain??? I posted this on Published on Dec 14, 2016 and my first Stevie Wonder post was on Dec 24, 2014

  58. 9.... ....

I've always loved the overdriven clavinet on this.

    9.... ....

It was perfect for this song. Stevie does it again!! Good call!

  59. S.... B....

This would be great to squaredance to!

    S.... B....

    Interestingly enough......you're right!!!
    Thanks for being here

  60. D.... Z....

Who's the genius responsible for this bass line? Wow!

    D.... Z....

    Bob Babbitt

    D.... Z....

It was Babbitt's very first recording for Motown. He had been working in Stevie's touring band when Stevie called him in to do the recording. He also had Babbitt play on "Signed, Sealed, Deliver (I'm Yours)." Another piece of bass playing genius!

    D.... Z....

@Chuck Kreinar Thanks for the info, that's super interesting!

    D.... Z....

Wow! is right! Not enough fuzz base being used any more...

  61. B.... T....

It is hard to cover the best but Stevie does it better than all the weak attempts of his peers, but Aretha Franklin, All The Lonely Poeple

    B.... T....

    Bob Barnes people

    B.... T....

    the song is "Eleanor Rigby"

  62. S.... B....

wow, I forgot about this one. Thanks My Love. 💋💋

    S.... B....

    Sylvine B welcome

    S.... B....

Always sweetie. I missed this comment, sorry.
