Stevie Wonder - Think Of Me As Your Soldier Lyrics

Think of me as your soldier
The man whose life is for you
And the sweet love
That's greater than time has known

Think of me as your soldier
Through worlds of hate I'm for you
Tho' the darkness hits me ever hard
I'll stand long

And we'll be lovers seeing love by heaven's light
Lovers dreaming dreams each blessed by night
I will find the promised paradise
With you there I'll spend my life

In our hearts there are no others
We are bound as two lovers
To give the great eternal love

And we'll be lovers seeing love by heaven's light
Lovers dreaming dreams each blessed by night
I will find the promised paradise
With you there I'll spend my life
I'll spend my life

Think of me, girl, as your soldier
Through worlds of pain I'm for you
To give an endless love
To give an endless love
To give an endless love
To you....

Great album - I picked it up from a bargain bin in 1977 for £1 and fell in love with it. I think in those pre internet days - many UK fans may not have known of its existence.

  18. M.... S....

  21. B.... ....

This classic album of Stevie's with songs like this and "Something Out of the Blue", and ones from others great artists like Marvin Gaye with "What's Going On", James Taylor's "Sweet Baby James", and Carole King's "Tapestry"....they were the perfect music for this time, turning the page from the violent, turbulent 60s and beginning a new decade with quiet & peaceful sounds. Perfect for a lazy afternoon.

A masterpiece! as the whole "Where I'm come from" album... I've been listening these songs for more than 30 years and still make me cry.   Stevie was one of the biggest genius of modern music and maybe one of the best soul singers for ever more in the world.  His music was specially transcendent and creative between the 70's  (starting with this absolutely brilliant album) and the 80,s.  At the end of that "wonderful" era,  Stevie published  "Songs in the key of life",  his last irreplaceable work of art,  really an infinite heritage for all the music history.   The  "Where I'm coming from" album  is the rare starting of all that miracle.  A rare pearl of mastering and sensitive knowledge from Stevie Wonder.

  23. M.... R....

    yessss,....a masterpiece

  24. L.... -....

This remains my favorite Stevie Wonder composition.

    L.... -....

@LeslyeJoyAllen - JazzMaestraagreed. Just asked other people on a different video if anybody absolutely loves this song and espeically this album.

    L.... -....

This was Stevie Wonder's first album that he, rather than the Motown songwriting teams, did the compositions.

    L.... -....

LeslyeJoyAllen - JazzMaestra hard to believe he was putting out gems like this in 1971!!

  25. G.... X....

    classic

  26. m.... p....

This was on the flipside of the 45 disc " If you really love me" on the Tamla Motown record label  in the UK. The year was  1971 .Still remember it all those years ago. Still got the 45 as well.

  27. G.... ....

    Sad song

  28. g.... ....

The beauty of the soul well expressed in song by Stevie Wonder. Those prefer negative comments are truly lost souls in the world and are missing this beauty that even live with their soul but they just won't let it shine. What a waste.

  29. b.... ....

    My favorite artist hands down....

  30. l.... ....

I don't know why an instrumental of this doesn't exist, this is one of his best!

  31. C.... L....

I don't understand how a lot of his work just sits in the dust. Stevie is definitely my favorite music artist in the world. He is one of the best, besides like, Paul McCartney, and MJ (R.I.P.)

  32. C.... L....

    This song is gorgeous

  33. t.... ....

OMG I was only about 21 years old listening this everyday, I'm 34 now, this is the you know what

  34. L.... E....

the song takes me back to 1971 when i meet my first wife we were dating on her garage and we had a portable turntable and we use to listen to all the songs on that album thank you for bringing back good memories

  35. t.... ....

I'm falling in love with this song. He should bring this back into his set list. He has so many great songs on this record and this is one of them, my new favorite record of his. And I thought I *KNEW* Stevie lol

  36. r.... ....

A song is a classic if it can relate to ppl in almost any time period. While we all know Stevie's music is classic, what you of his generation don't know is that you are BLESSED to have young memories associated to his music. So blessed.

  37. w.... ....

This song was the flip side of "Something Out Of The Blue" on 45 rpm back in 1971...it was on side B....it was so underrated it didn't even make the charts during that time...i believe Stevie Wonder wrote one of his best with this song.

  38. f.... ....

he was 21 years old when he made this....wow!
    pure genius...

  39. a.... ....

random fact from the truest stevland fanatic breathing: the intro here is the same that appeared as the acapella intro on Songs In The Key Of Life..(with a lil variant) same key and all...Stevie did that intro for Love's in Need as a demo for the song and decided to keep it on the song..PHEW!!!

  40. D.... ....

    Single tear.....
