This is an amazing song! I can remember my grandmother playing it on Saturday morning when I was a child. Now I listen to it every day for inspiration, it's what I call my feel good song ☺️

Rvery time I hear this song,it reminds me of when my brother-in-law was a Dee Jay for hire, and he played this song at a party he was working, and one woman Just broke down in tears upon hearing this song, and its emotional lyrics!

 I love this song because it was constructed in the Motown tradition with the regular back up artists but it has a life that little Stevie insisted it have like the Bass line and the way the strings are done.

the one thing about lexington in 68 thru 70 when we lived there. we learned of life and death. Ben Taylor and I was the best of friends and death was around us all the time. however, it really left us shocked when Linda Tiggs blew her heart out of body over some crazy shit no one was aware of. Ben and so many of them are gone now and my Mother just joined them yesterday. LORD how I misse all of them. GOD BLESS!!!

This sure takes me back... I was nine when this came out. Used to hear this on WOL radio in Washington DC, 1970. In those days I couldn't wait to get back home from school to listen to my little transistor radio. Sigh. Happy birthday Stevie! May 13's his birthday. He's 61 yrs old, I'm 50.

Stevie has some of the most memorable "hooks" and "background" vocals in all of his songs............

I never understood why this wasn't a bigger hit for Stevie. Certainly one of his best efforts in a career filled with great songs. The two songs he released before this and the two after all went into the Top Ten, but this one peaked at number 26. Just a wonderful performance from one of the most genuinely talented musicians of his era.

@CFIsMyGod yeah, definitely. My parents influenced my music taste hugely. I'm so glad I didn't grow up to Lady Gaga :P Yeah, a few people my age know him, but they only know stuff like "I Just Called To Say I Love You" and that. I love most types of music though, like Tom Waits and Pink Floyd, among others. Went to see Stevie live a few weeks ago actually, it was incredible. He just has this amazing atmosphere about him, and ooowh, he's so inspriring =) one of the best moments of my life..

My mama and my grandma played this til the record broke, and then went out and bought new records. This is priceless. It's a gift that always puts a smile on my face and lifts my spirit. Thanks, Johnnie.
