Stevens, Ray - She Came In Through The Bathroom Window Lyrics
Oh look out
She came in through the bathroom window,
Protected by a silver spoon
But now she sucks her thumb and wonders
By the banks of her own lagoon
Didn't anybody see
Sundays on the phone to Monday
Tuesdays on the phone to me.
She said she'd always been a dancer
She worked at fifteen clubs a day
And though she thought I knew the answer
Well I knew I could not say.
And so I quit the police department
And got myself a steady job
And though she tried her best to help me

Stevens, Ray She Came In Through The Bathroom Window Comments
that break mind
Well, it is not Joe Cocker, but it is still a really good rendition of this song.
my parents had this album and I listened to it all the time. I like this version best over the Beatles and Joe Cocker.
This album was Ray's best....period:)
Ray still has it! His versions of Help and Something are both good too. He made Help sound like a prayer.
the "protected by a silver spoon" comment has two meanings. the first is a comment to the effect if daddy has money you can do anything . The second is of course a reference to "riding the golden pony" or having the monkey on your back. in short the spoon used when shooting up.
didn't know this existed. not bad.
I am just stunned, but this actually works!
I'm just now seeing this video---always late, LOL!! Thank you for posting it! I have this album and and two album covers! Classic Ray Stevens!
Ray is the BEST!!!

@MrBeatlesCovers: Oh okay! "The Fool on the Hill" is also from Ray's 1969 album. I have it on vinyl. It's never been issued on CD. The 1969 album is called HAVE A LITTLE TALK WITH MYSELF, by the way. Ray covers other pop groups on that album, too. In addition to singing "Hair" and "The Fool on the Hill" he also does his version of "Spinning Wheel", Bob Dylan's "I'll Be Your Baby Tonight", the Joe South hit "Games People Play", and the song "But You Know I Love You".
Thank you for your comment! I'll be uploading more songs from this album soon. I also have Ray's version of "The Fool On The Hill" posted from a compilation CD.
All the best,
Mike
Love the song! I have the vinyl album and have the CD re-release, too. This is one song that I have no idea what some of the lyrics are suppose to mean. I like the song, though...I like everything I've heard from Ray Stevens...but I've always wondered what "protected by a silver spoon" was suppose to mean. Ray also does other Beatles songs on the 1970 album...in a 1969 album Ray covers even more Beatles songs like "Help!" and "Hey Jude". He also does his version of "Hair" which is hilarious.
The silver spoon relates either to her heritage or to drug usage. A great song either way, and well done by Ray.
You're very welcome!
sooo good! thx
