This song should be played on the radio everyday but it's not, one reason the world is so full of hate now days. I was a kid when this came out and I loved it then and I still do.

The guy is talented not only did he make the funny parity songs but he had a great voice singing serious songs like Everything is Beautiful.

It's time to bring back a number of the songs from the 60s and 70s. Many tell a story of love, peace, harmony and brotherhood. Not about big bootys, killing cops and how much destruction we can rain down on the world.

So many i m of today's songs are about death, destruction and hatred. We children of the 60s and 70s need to bring back the ideals of peace and harmony so, put a little love in your heart.

Ray Stevens has a fantastic voice. I wish he would have recorded a lot more serious songs like this one and misty.

I keep coming back to listen one more time. Such a happy, hopeful song.

My favorite Ray Stevens all time song. Brings back sad memories of my dad's passing October 17,1969 just before song released following year. It also brings back wonderful memories of my best friend in life he opened his heart to me and made me his best friend late 1969-1974 when he joined the Marines. It was the last time I saw my best friend in life and the only letter from the marines I recieved from him Donald Tivis Horger of then Hampton Va. This song brings back memories when life was sweet, I was 15 years old and I had a friend who was the essence of what the song says. A friend only people could hope to have. Last I heard he had committed suicide at only 39 years old. A call my mother made to inform me of the bad news. Donald was special to me and my mother saw something special in him. We both went to junior high school together and we both help to get through some rough times in that period. This song says what life meant to me in 1970 and how blessed I was to have a wonderful friend and that we both appreciated our time together in those special years. Everyone is gone now but I have my memories of what was and what will be in the after life of God's Love and promise. Rest in peace Donald who was biried in Maricopa County, Phoenix,Arizona. I miss my friend and brother in Christ. Will see each other again soon. My best to his wife son and daughter. Hope you found hapinness in life but don't forget Donald, visit his grave and for me, he knew me by the name Wilson, mention his friend from Hampton Va. says my thoughts and prayers are with him daily and memories and the love and appreciation I had for him, that time can't and won't erase. He left his markand made my life a much better place. As the song says everyone is beautiful in their own way!

I was 8 when this song came out this song by Ray Stevens helped this nation heal after the assignation of Dr King and Robert Kennedy it was a message to the country a good one.
