Steven Tyler - Brown Sugar Lyrics

Gold coast slave ship bound for cotton fields
Sold in a market down in New Orleans
Scarred old slaver knows he's doing alright
Hear him whip the women just around midnight

Brown sugar how come you taste so good?
Brown sugar just like a young girl should

Drums beating, cold English blood runs hot
Lady of the house wonderin' where it's gonna stop
House boy knows that he's doing alright
You shoulda heard him just around midnight

Brown sugar how come you taste so good
Brown sugar just like a... just like a young girl should

[?]

I bet your mama was a tent show queen
And all her boyfriends were sweet sixteen
I'm no schoolboy but I know what I like
You shoulda heard me just around midnight

Brown sugar how come you taste so good
Sing it
Ah, brown sugar just like a young girl should

I said yeah, yeah, yeah, woo
Just like a young girl should
I said yeah, yeah, yeah, woo
How come you taste so good?
I said yeah, yeah, yeah, woo
Just like a... just like a black girl should
Yeah, yeah, yeah, woo
I said yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
I said yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah...

  6. t.... m....

    Love stones

  7. K.... J....

This version did NOT make me go "yeah, yeah yeah.... Whooooooo." Nor did it make me wanna get my Ya-Ya's out.

  8. P.... P....

I might be called a traitor for saying this, but I instantly liked this version sooooo much better then the Stones' original version. But anyway you look at this dynamic, we get lips to the maximum power, so we start with Jagger (two huge lips to the 2nd power squared), plus Tyler (again down for two more huge lips to the 2nd power squared), plus Bettencourt (so that's another two huge lips to the 2nd power squared), now add who the song is dedicated to (which is lips infinity times two huge lips to the 2nd power squared) DANG!!! This band is so Lipps Inc. that they could have taken us to Funkytown bareback Asian foot runner styley!!!

  9. t.... ....

This is horrible. No soul whatsoever. Sounds like a theme song for a sitcom.

  10. A.... L....

  14. C.... B....

This is so Brilliant just love it so much ❤️❤️❤️

    C.... B....

    Glad you love it!

  15. P.... ....

Boring....lacks Keith’s genius for rhythm. Charlie and Bill always played slightly behind Keith’s lead. Keith was the real drummer in the Stones....until they became corporate Stones.

  16. B.... Y....

    Sounds awful

  17. V.... M....

Better than the original! There,i've said it!

    V.... M....

Vitor Morais Rubbish.....this an 1980’s hairband, heavy metal version of the song. Lacks Keith’s tightrope, getting ready to fall off rhythm.

  18. n.... t....

    Steven n. 1

  19. M.... S....

I respect stones i respect stones i respect rock and roll

  20. R.... S....

    Joke next to the Stones

  21. W.... K....

    Great cover

  22. A.... E....

Here is a great idea, get the five guys in Aerosmith to Muscle Shoals and let them write three or four new songs and record and see how it comes out. The Blue Army would love it!

  23. T.... ....

Pretty good, I like the mix of styles.

  24. m.... n....

Absolutely awesome, why would anyone find fault with this? This was always one of my favourite songs when I was in a covers band......we played it really heavy. What I love is Steven's sensational voice, and to see Nuno back in the limelight where he belongs, he is a Force Majeure!

  25. G.... D....

This Song is One of My Favorite....the lyrics Hit Home for Me.So l was hoping Steve & Nuno didn't butcher it.
    And They Didn't.👏👏👍

  26. T.... m....

    Bang on!!! Every time ❤️❤️❤️

  27. L.... ....

    Great cover!

  28. T.... S....

Sounds ok, pity he couldn’t get the lyrics right....:(

    T.... S....

    He’s censoring it

  29. M.... D....

awful ! voice sounds like shit! nuno should stick to extreme! HE IS BETTER THAN THIS CRAP! RETIRE STEVEN TYLER

  30. A.... M....

    Muscle shoals! Love it!

  31. C.... A....

Espetáculo este cover,Tyler e Nuno estão demais.

  32. M.... C....

steven tyler gives all he's worth on this - and man he's got pipes. nuno and steve are good, not sure about the drums.

  33. A.... G....

    this cover...sucks

  34. C.... F....

Steven is Peter Pan, he'll never get OLD!

    C.... F....

Cheryl Familant ironically that’s what Charlie watts and Ronnie wood call mick jagger because of how flamboyant he is lmao

  35. B.... F....

They were trying to honor the Muscle Shoals FAME sound...they did that...it's great

  36. E.... T....

I think this is pretty good, I expected a grittier Steven Tyler tho.... can't outdo the original on this one. Great to hear this finally!

  37. B.... B....

If you want this to sound like the original listen to the original dummies!! Music snobs pfft. I like this take and the original. Get your nose out of your ass.

  38. S.... A....

If Aerosmith recorded Brown Sugar instead of the Stones

  39. L.... T....

Amazing! Tyler still got it. Wish Aerosmith would go back to the heavier sound of the Rocks era.

    L.... T....

I'd like to hear them tackle this song back then for sure.

  40. A.... H....

Drumming is way too shoulder and on the beat. Charlie swings - from the wrist and behind the beat. This has none of the spontaneity and looseness of the original. Just doesn't cut it IMO.

  41. F.... a....

At least he's got nuno bettencourt on the guitar!

  42. M.... M....

i just can recognize his voice anywhere ..... best vocals ever ... i love it.

  43. C.... C....

Always thought these 2 should start a band

  44. P.... M....

    hmmm....

  45. A.... C....

CD novo do Extreme que é bom?! 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

  46. D.... ....

    He's the Devil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  47. F.... S....

    too american soap

  48. R.... B....

    Amazing!

  49. .... ....

    Amazing!

  50. s.... ....

Don't like it, sounds over produced & way too busy.

  51. S.... C....

Love Steven and love the Stones! Great cover!

  52. g.... k....

bleahhh no great cover fuck Steven Tyler !!!!!

  53. C.... A....

Buena versión. De los mejores clásicos de los Stones.

  54. A.... ....

    Nice try Steven...Thank you

  55. P.... J....

Great cover!! I respect all opinions but i don´t understand some comments here. The original track will always be classic and amazing, but Steven and Nuno were great here. Steven sound bad or without energy here?? Really? No way. Well, his voice is more raspy and dark as it was in the 80s or 90s, that´s true, but is still on tone and powerfull, and he is still able to scream with his recognisable style.

    P.... J....

Pablo José Garcia Couñago He had a great week here! Nuno said he loved meeting and getting to play with legends. Of course this will sound different it’s got the FAME sound. You grow up around here and your ear immediately knows the difference. 😂
I always invite folks to come visit so come on! Too bad they tore down the motel Tush was written at!

    P.... J....

Used to listen to the original version, I wouldn't say it sounds bad, I got a similar sensation to when I first listened to Aeorsmith' blues record. I knew it was them and that was an Aerosmith theme, not a blues' one. Tyler'd better sing in his band, I stick to the original song anyway.

  56. S.... R....

Pathetic! Music and vocals are terrible.

    S.... R....

    Totally agree.

    S.... R....

Sandi you'll be shitting your pants at 70, yet Steven Tyler rocks.
I guess some Rock while some talk shit on the internet...

  57. c.... ....

Production is pretty good. Love the Bari sax in the second verse. Sounds like Steven has become a bit PC in his old age.

  58. M.... R....

Sensacional!!!!! Amo esse Steven Tyler ❤❤❤

  59. C.... B....

I wonder why he didn't do it at 3614 Jackson Hwy, where the Stones cut it...

    C.... B....

Chandler Bridges FAME is still locally owned and most local musicians work there. A rapper bought Jackson Hwy, it’s busy but I never recognize anyone when I drive by. They do host tours to keep the history. Plus we are losing The Swampers and the other great producers, they are all at FAME now, so artists that want to work with them go there. They still tour Jackson Hwy and usually WC Handy’s home.
There have been a lot coming to cut this album.
I miss Rick Hall, my Granny went to school with him and when we opened our cotton gin he came every year to watch. His last visit was sad we knew that was going to be the last.
If you’ve never come for Handy Fest or Sam Phillips’ celebration you should. The studios give tours during these events. Jackson Hwy does at least one Tuesday every month and you can pick up a shirt like Ronnie’s!
    Hope you come visit!

  60. M.... G....

The Rolling Stones should do their songs and Steven should stick with Aerosmith songs.

    M.... G....

But that's the thing; the Rolling Stones would never do Aerosmith songs.

    M.... G....

    BITE ME!

    M.... G....

@Wil Cheung rolling Stones couldn't pull off an Aerosmith song. Aerosmith is way more talented band

  61. $.... ....

Should be Sass Jordan on vocals!!!

  62. A.... A....

Love It ❤️❤️❤️❤️ love Steven Tyler.

  63. K.... F....

Tyler sounds like he's 80 years old

    K.... F....

Well, he's no spring chicken after all.

    K.... F....

THE HELL HE DOES!!! He still has the same range he had when he was younger.

    K.... F....

@Cheryl Familant exactly these people hating are ignorant

    K.... F....

Your rite he is in his 70s, yep he is getting old but I will always be an Aerosmith fan.

    K.... F....

    Adam Edwards That’s you’re right ! And I’m 72, so 70 is NOT old!

  64. P.... ....

Steve sounded great on the Tonight show last week. On this recording he sounds weak and aged, like Paul McCartney does. It was a mistake to release this. (Not so much with Paul, as he's still writing his own fine material and performing his, and Beatle, songs—not to mention being older than Steve.)

    P.... ....

STEVEN, not Steve! If you were an Aerosmith fan, you'd know not to call him Steve!

  65. r.... ....

    God awful!!!!

  66. E.... A....

I like this. Maybe Aerosmith should record at Muscle Shoals. Or something to get this sort of energy and sound back to that band.

  67. s.... ....

    That's awful.

  68. S.... M....

    💪🏿💪🏿

  69. T.... R....

The thing about the Stones when they originally did Brown Sugar is that it was much more spontaneous and simply done. This version is fine but overall it's just a little too slick and deliberate for me. Enjoy listening to this but it ain't the one that I want to hear when I think of Brown Sugar

  70. J.... F....

The Stones should go back and record some songs at the muscle shoals. This Steven Tyler brown sugar is ok and i really like the sound of the recording.......

  71. M.... T....

    Amazing!
