Steve Miller Band, The - Little Girl Lyrics

Oh little girl, all mine
Hey, you sure are fine
I'm gonna take you home
That's where you belong

Cause you were born to discover
You're made to love the good things
Yes, you were

Oh little girl, so fine
I'm goin' to make you mine
Reach out my hand
I know you understand

Cause you were born to discover
You're made to love the good things
Yes, you were

Let me hear you say I, I love you
Let me hear you say I, I love you
Let me hear you say I, I love you
Let me hear you say I, I love you

Cause you were born to discover
You're made to love the good things
Yes, you were

Come on

Let me hear you say I, I love you
Let me hear you say I, I love you
Let me hear you say I, I love you
Let me hear you say I, I love you

Cause you were born to discover
You're made to love the good things
Yes, you were
Come on
Iii, whoa, yes

Steve Miller Band, The Little Girl Comments

I guess I haven't listened to this cut in a long time, the lead guitar is way better than I remembered! How many 5 yr. old kids get to have the legendary Les Paul teach them guitar chords in their own home, nice start to an iconic music career, huh?

  2. s.... h....

    Chris and me

  3. S.... T....

Pedophiles love to dance to this snappy tune.

  4. D.... W....

    Beatles

  5. J.... A....

MY God..... everything before the Joker is fucking amazing.

  6. f.... ....

that ending and then the fade is brilliant, Miller playing guitar and then the overdub in the other speaker, he plays with himself pretty good LOL

  7. J.... ....

Name a band who´s later stuff was better than their earlier stuff. It´s a trick question. No one has.

    J.... ....

    TRUE to the max!!!!

    J.... ....

He's gone, but my nomination would be Tom Petty.

    J.... ....

I hated all that Fly Like an Eagle shit. His early music was great.

    J.... ....

@chrisradano agree 'Hypnotic Eye' album by Petty in 2014 is as good an album as he ever released. Pure Gold

  8. W.... J....

needs more of a live room feel. the studio separation is too much here. makes the solo sound thin.

  9. c.... ....

What a great tune. I like it now, as much as the first time I heard it.

  10. R.... T....

    Good memories from 1969.

  11. s.... ....

    Long before Spoon.

After a quick listening, and noting the era, there is no doubt in my mind SM "borrowed" the Cleftones song.  He was a notorious borrower of ideas.  Ever listen to the "Big Ol' Jet Airliner" intro next to Clapton's "Crossroads" lick?  How 'bout "Rock N Me Baby" and Free's "Alright Now" among  others...?
    But, really, so what?  All the rock greats have done it to some extent, Miller just a bit more obviously, at least to me.  Hell, how many artists borrowed slight variations of his "Joker" bass line?  (Cheryl Crow "Leaving Las Vegas" comes immediately to mind.)  The whole plagiarism thing is a cloudy gray line defined by whoever can prevail in court anyway...Why did George Harrison lose over "He's So Fine" and Dylan got away with "La Bamba?" Or was it "Twist And Shout?"  (Like A Rolling Stone.}
Bottom line is Steve Miller was a terrific pop/rock songwriter.

Yes musicians are often   influenced  and admired by others.
Ever heard the opening minute   of  Children of the future  1s t track on first album
Exactly the same as Speed King opening song  from Deep Purple in Rock

The opening of Speed King was edited for the U.S  release of that album ,
Other have copied Steve Miller.as well .

    J.... N....

Allk musicians steal & borrow what they can, it's no big secret, hey there's only 12 notes ya know!

  13. f.... ....

well this is a response to a comment I made quite some time ago.But I wasn;t just talking about the lyrics. The first eight bars of the melody are the same, and the guitar part approximates the back-up vocal. That combined with the simillar lyric in my opinion constitutes plagiarism. There's no way they came up with the song without consciously imitating the Cleftones.

  14. G.... G....

    This LP was his finest..

  15. I.... ....

if that is not top music?then there is something wrong with our ears got it from the mesa media disease ...:)thanks for sharing

  16. b.... ....

Found this tune on a Capitol sampler LP from back in the day... also featured Grand Funk's "Got This Thing On The Move" and a neat edit of "Astronomy Domine" by the Floyd... nice to hear it sans hiss and pop.

    b.... ....

    basspepper

    b.... ....

It's a great album. It was given to me as a kid, for my birthday back in 1970. It's called The New Spirit of Capitol.

  17. M.... ....

    Boz Scaggs ...Texaaaaas!!!

  18. a.... ....

Great!!! B4 Stevie "Guitar" Miller sold out to top 40.

    a.... ....

Compare "My Friend" with "Billy Joe and Bobby Sue."

  19. p.... t....

    @Dominator8146 Right on Bruv!

  20. B.... S....

Steve Miller Band pre-1971 >>>>>>> Steve Miller Band post-1971

    B.... S....

After the departure of Boz Skaggs the Steve Miller Band became very pop, with ridiculous ditties like Jungle Love and Billy Joe and Bobby Sue.

  21. j.... ....

Damn cool to see this stuff & this album in particular posted here on YT!! Not sure if I've ever seen a copy of this album anywhere before........& that's with YEARS of collecting both vinyl & CD's!!

  22. f.... ....

a similar message??? dont think either song has much of a message but the melody and lyric of the first 8 bars is virtually identical and certainly constitutes plagiarism.swiching the 'so fine'and' mine' around and whatnot and changing the last 4 bars hardly makes it 'no way the same'. it hit me immediately upon listening.im amazed anyone can listen to both records and not hear it

    f.... ....

All the early rock and rollers ripped off all their licks from the old blues guys. Steve miller made it his own. He is one of the greats.

  23. f.... ....

this is a complete rip-off of the Cleftones 'Little Girl of Mine'[which is on youtube] surprised they were never called on it

    f.... ....

You are CORRECT! I listened to the Cleftones' version and it sure seem to be the REAL DEAL. So, Steve Miller even posted "his" name as songwriter of this track.

SHAME, SHAME! But, I'm still an ardent fan of Steve Miller's music. He should give credit where due, though!

  24. w.... ....

one of his all time best tunes that never gets any airtime....thanks for having such excellent taste in b sides...peace
