Steve Miller Band, The - Brave New World Lyrics

We're driving fast
From a dream of the past
To the brave new world
Where nothing will last
That comes from the past
It's a brave new world
Put a smile on your face
As we walk with space
In the brave new world
Now as you begin
You're born once again
With the rising sun

Something new, nothing old
Something true, something gold
No spirit of the past
Can hold you back
From the brave new world

The direction to start
Is inside your heart
To the brave new world
If you're free in your heart
You can make a new start
It's a brave new world
There's nothing to hide
Leave your troubles behind
It's a brave new world
I told you, my friend
And I'll tell you again
Your trip has begun

Something new, nothing old
Something true, something gold
The direction to start
Is inside your heart
To the brave new world

Steve Miller Band, The Brave New World Comments
  1. I.... H....

Bought this on used vinyl, never heard it, so I was cursing up a storm thinking the rocket effect was badly worn grooves. Didn't like this song much so I wasn't very pleased.

    I.... H....

But that all changed with what followed, fantastic album.

  2. B.... G....

When this came out I was just picking up guitar..Hey everybody!! Still playing everyday..Differant world..Thank GOD and people for good music.

  3. A.... N....

    Best Miller....

  4. B.... ....

When I was young, on the first nice spring day every year I used to blast this song.

  5. R.... P....

Recording of the Appollo at start, Brian Enoe got me hip to that...it inspired him too.

  6. T.... ....

Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane may have been more popular at the time but Steve Miller also did his part to define the west coast sound in the bay area. This album and Children Of The Future
are my personal favourites from the era. Sure brings back some special memories....

  7. J.... V....

My favorite Steve Miller album by far. I was a whopping 16 years old. Where did the last 50 years go?

  8. m.... ....

    Real Steve Miller

Early Steve Miller albums are the best!

    R.... W....

YEP,...Sailor thru #5 are my favorites.

    R.... W....

Some of the best music ever!

  12. S.... W....

it's just good, fun music ....

  13. J.... R....

Steve Miller Bands' Brave New World and The Band's Stage Fright which came out about the same time where two of my most favorite albums at the time!

  14. t.... ....

A quick bio of Steve Miller will reveal Les Paul and Mary Ford used to visit at his parents house when he was a kid,  and he used to jam with Paul Butterfield and blues greats Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf and Buddy Guy.  He was in a group called the Marksmen with Boz Scaggs, who also attended the same prep school, St. Mark's.  I don't know anyone who ever called him Maurice.

  15. C.... S....

    LP released June 16, 1969

  16. C.... S....

Yeah, this hits the spot. Love the atmospheric intro and outro

  17. C.... D....

Great album great time to be alive

    C.... D....

YOU are right, from 1965 to 1971 more great music, then we'll ever see in the next 1000 years.

  18. N.... ....

    Path with heart.

  19. F.... ....

I mentioned this on another of his videos. He's certainly under-rated. If you look at his body of work, it's considerable in its excellence, influence, and originality. From Brave New World to Book of Dreams, the quality of work can rarely be matched by other artists their entire body of work. So true.

    F.... ....

Frankincensed I think he is unfairly derided for his transition to pop in the early 70s. Even though I would agree that his best stuff was the earlier blues/rock from the first three albums, his pop stuff was really pretty good, for pop anyway.

Maybe he was faced with the choice to either continue as a purist and remain in obscurity, getting FM airplay, or appeal to a larger listening audience.

  20. B.... D....

The tracks "Celebration Song" and "My Dark Hour" featured Paul McCartney on backing vocals, drums and bass guitar credited as Paul Ramon.

  21. W.... ....

Wow, Steve Miller has managed his music biz since day one. He calls the shots. It is hard to explain why you would write this paragraph. oh well

  22. J.... C....

I'm really disappointed Steve is not considered right up there with the Byrds, Beach Boys, CSNY. He had so much going on - great tunes, abnd, singing, stuff, politics.

  23. S.... ....

I think their 2nd album was much better than the 1st ... but well... i am "one of the only one" to appreciate their mid 70s albums (except "All the girls in the world beware!")

  24. J.... C....

You made me literally laugh out loud!!!! : )

  25. J.... C....

Early Grand Funk was pretty good! Closer to Home was a good listen, but what do I know, I was 12!

  26. J.... C....

As relevant today as was in 1968!

  27. E.... ....

    @bendbadgersteve

  28. b.... ....

    Back when he actually mattered...

  29. S.... ....

i suspect sometimes the Grand Funk Railroad to be quite inspired by some Steve Miller vintage songs... not a bad idea after all :)

  30. m.... n....

I was groking to plants on the side of the highway in my vw on this one

  31. M.... ....

From the Year of our Ford.........Mr Savage your gramme of Soma awaits!!!
