Steve Hackett - I Talk To The Wind Lyrics
Said the straight man to the late man
Where have you been?
I've been here and I've been there
And I've been in between
My words are all carried away
I talk to the wind
The wind does not hear
The wind cannot hear
I'm on the outside looking inside
What do I see
Much confusion, disillusion
All around me
My words are all carried away
I talk to the wind
The wind does not hear
The wind cannot hear
You don't possess me, don't impress me
Just upset my mind
Can't instruct me or conduct me
Just use up my time
I talk to the wind
My words are all carried away
I talk to the wind
The wind does not hear
The wind cannot hear
I talk to the wind
My words are all carried away
I talk to the wind
The wind does not hear
The wind cannot hear
Said the straight man to the late man
Where have you been?
I've been here and I've been there
And I've been in between

Steve Hackett I Talk To The Wind Comments
This haunting song by Ian McDonald & Peter Sinfield is a masterpiece. The album entitled "McDonald & Giles" released in 1971 is extraordinary. It's so good, it's why the Beatles broke up! Just kidding, but it's that good.
I would love to go to a King Crimson concert
this tune has the most beautifull opening of any song i know of period
Great find! I did not know Hackett played with them.
Does that ever sound nice
Is it just me or did John Wetton lose weight between the 80's and 2003?
He looks great here. RIP sir.
What is the message in this gorgeous song? Someone said it's about self-confidence.??
The most fantastic King Crimson' song !
Awesomeness
Great verison make sure to check out The Giles Giles And Fripp original as well
So beautiful, how can human beings make such beautiful art?
Steven Hackett = great. Ian Anderson = the best, the G.O.A.T. 🐐
I just wonder who would be the 28 idiot fools that turn their thumbs down to this superb version of this TOP #01 song of my life!!!!!
What a beautiful rendition of that brilliant song.
Ian McDonald is looking very wiggly in this clip.
Bossa nova.
We love or we don't but cannot affirm that it's not out of its time.....
I love the sing
Holy smokes, awesome!
Wettons voice has improved since 73 massively
outstanding
MERAVIGLIOSA!!
What a Performance!!!
this is a top five song in my 61y old life. "You don't possess me don't impress me
Just upset my mind Can't instruct me or conduct me Just use up my time" follows me since I was 14, (and caused a lot of trouble eventually) This is about SelfConfidence!
the wind cannot hear
Gênios! O solo de flauta de Ian MacDonald é realmente emocionante!!!

not heard this for years, I must go learn some jazz chord progressions
Maestria Total
Beautiful tune! And great lineup! :)
The drums killed it. None of the finesse of the original . Flute however, absolutely supreme.
OMG!! The beauty...
Maravilha!

if not # 1 music of my 60y life, it´s certainly amongst the 5 top ones. This version is superb.RIP John Wetton
dare I say more than awesome!!!!
SENTIRSE EN EL VIENTO Y LAS NUBES CUANDO LA ESCUCHO :) GRAN SONIDO Y GRAN CANCION UNA DE MIS FAVORITAS
I knew one day all my influences and people who made the music I have been privileged to hear first hand would one day be taken by the wind but their spirit remains until it's my time.
Fantastic. I guess it’s from 95 anyone know specifics... ty for this

And the flute is so essential to the existence of this masterpiece.
What a great song. Amazing job here !
MARAVILLOSO TRABAJO!
Very very elegant song and show, in the same street as Camel and Caravan. Love it !
Yep, in the same street but in the first house or should that be the first Court.
Does anyone know when this live version was filmed? What year?
This is even better than the original studio version!
Good, but Greg Lake was on another level.
A great King Crimson masterpiece. I love this song from their album Court of the crimson king
What happened to this world? We had smart music with amazing lyrics and outstanding music and now we only have that shitty pop generic music and trap SHIT.
maybe its the most beautifull song I´ve heard my entire life, just simply that
WOW.....WOW
Steve Hackett is the best guitar soloist ever , and this is one of the proofs : doing such a beautiful solo on such a classic song (which already had a beautiful solo by God Fripp). Also Ian McDonald and Wetton (RIP) doing wonders , I'm in love with his flute playing so many beautiful melodies and for me he is the best at it along with the other Ian (Anderson). Wetton plays and sings just perfectly (and it's hard considering is Greg Lake we are talking about here , another one of my favorites and also RIP) , he truly creates the perfect ground for Ian to charm with his magic flute. It's very hard to improve or just make a cover actually interesting but they definitely created something great here.
Adore Hackett, adore early Genesis, adore early Crimson yet, Gilmour gets under my skin and shreds my nerves.
bella canción mi favorita lo maximo
Ian McDonald and Ian Anderson the two best flute players in rock music...a melodic ecstasy
MAGISTRAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've played the original a thousand times, but, wow, this version gave me goosebumps. Master craftsmen at the very top of their game....
This is a diamond, as Greg might say, (said) to this rendition of a King Crimson 1st generation original.
masterpiece
The transcendental quality of the original lp version expressed very well here, and provides a haunting echo of the entire Court lp. A flashback to the mind blown experience that stands as a masterpiece in prog rock.
Excellent version of an excellent song.
Beauty.

Bellissimo!!!
My favorite Crimson tune, and production genius to have it follow 21st Century Schizoid Man on their first album. Beautifully played here.
Colon cancer. RIP John, lately happen nearly every day we ear one of us is gone away for ever.
QEPD John Wetton- Muy buen cantante. Excelente bajista
Un legado musical extraordinario
This is so beautifully done.....R.I.P. John.
How lovely this is.. very poignant and beautiful
#RIPJohnWetton
He was not only a great talent...He was a helluva nice guy!
RIP john wetton
R.I.P. John Wetton.
John Wetton. (12 June, 1949 – 31 January, 2017)
AMEN!!!..THX, John for all you did!!!
Margeir Ólafsson SHIT! I didn't know John Wetton was dead. Oh my god! Another brilliant musician gone 😔 I like him singing The Night Watch by Crimson. Awesome song sung by the best. 😢
rest in peace John. This video shows what a beautiful human being and artist you were
John sings this so beautifully. It's difficult not to get choked up. :(
What a flautist !!
Nicely done. Lovely.
Don't overlook John Wetton's agile, tasteful bass work on this either. Cheers!
the thing that is truly missing in this version is the giles drumming.
You Know, as a drummer, I was thinking the same thing...But still, a nice version...And maybe, the drummer here didn't want to feel he needed to reproduce every fill etc...
Chester Thompson is awesome though
I love it !!!!!!!!
I can't believe I never heard of this show before. I'm definitely going to have to pick up the DVD.
Does anyone here know what or when or where this amazing concert took place? I have no information about this. What an epic collaboration of musicians playing timeless music. I note that Chester Thompson (Genesis) is the drummer as well.
I must admit that even though Greg Lake sang this like an angel, John Wetton did an excellent job here.
I've always thought the two were interchangeable as vocalists. I mean this in the post positive sense. They sound so much alike and were both silky smooth. Pure excellence.
John Wetton is stellar. He even wrote Starless.
Wetton has a similar sound as Lake on this song. Just an awesome job!
