Steve Hackett - Hoping Love Will Last Lyrics
There are many friends that I once knew
Who felt the same special thing that I share with you
They've grown apart in different ways
I wonder if someone hears as I start to say
I'm hoping love will last
On and on, on and on
Why do I dream love's labour's lost
I'm just a face with a name that you soon forgot
But when I'm scared the most, the nightmare ends
Then safe and sound I awake in your arms again
I'm hoping love will last
Yes I'm hoping love will last
On and on, on and on
When your love is all I've known
Sometimes we stay many miles away
You know you're here every minute throughout the day
Within my thoughts
Within my thoughts so take good care
I only wait for the moments we both can share
Hoping love will last
Yes I'm hoping, hoping love will last
On and on, on and on

Thank you for uploading this beautiful song!!!.
Hermosa canción !!!
Steve , c est la plus belle chanson de l histoire , merci beaucoup Steve , et tu sais quoi ? il y a trop d idiots pour reconnaitre ton génie , excuses=les Steve , l humanité est stupide Steve
Shall we say something about the fabulous cover of this LP?
Apenas posso dizer que esta musica me acompanha para sempre .
Aprendi a ser o que sou .
Grato , Steve
I would always listen to this album before going to work at Pontiac Motors. Made the day good.
Such a beautiful song.
Beautiful!!! An excellent LP "Please Don't Touch" is, but it isn't quite up to par with Steve Hackett's debut solo LP "Voyage of the Acolyte".
Bravo, Steve Hackett & Randy Crawford!!!
It has a very 'american' sound
Mr. Hackett has gained such a following, because he's a tremendous musician who makes beautiful music. He's a true English gent, that has offered the world alot to enjoy.
for real, bro 👍 well said
Hard to believe Phil would reject this with his love of r&b. I imagine songs might have been hard to get past banks and Rutherford.
Starblaster77 he didn’t reject it
actually. Steve wanted it to be sung by a female singer, but the other guys weren’t so keen on the idea of bringing outside people to record with Genesis.
bellissima!
Futuro 88.9 Fm Chile playlists, early 90's. Amazing and unique.
My favourite love/slow song of all time
The story of John Acock (now deceased) working with Steve Hackett and Randy Crawford on this song is in this extended interview with John just before he died: https://soundcloud.com/udiscover/sets/udiscover-meets-john-acock
I think this is one of the most romantic songs ever written, and beautifully sung by Randy Crawford.
Soulful
feeling
Great song
So lovely this song bless you Steve :)
Sorry to contradict you but MP3's are horrible. They signal is really compressed so you loose a lot of the bass and the treble. If you have the original vinyl and a decent record player then you are sorted !! Of course its easier to play it on youtube etc but you cant beat the original !! :)
I don't notice any difference.
yt is for when you're away.
Steve Hackett is a genius ! A very underrated guitarist and brilliant song stylist. Randy Crawford does a Great job on vocals but, give credit to where it is due. Listen to this whole album and you'll be able to see what I am talking about also, check out the song which Richie Havens sings on this same album. Good stuff.
THIS IS NOT STEVE HACKETT,IT'S RANDY CRAWFORD.
It's a Steve Hackett song with Randy Crawford as guest vocalist. Don't be silly.
@bananeskit I know I know....I used to love vinyl and the record covers, especially the Genesis ones were so beautifully done....but unfortunately if I had to pick, to me it all comes down to the music quality, and the mp3 quality is far better than the vinyl, with all its noises it accumulates over time, and mp3s keep their quality forever.... :-)
@vampiroangelico cd? Pff, Vinyl!
@nebulabob I have that one already, and a couple more.
@vampiroangelico Dont forget to check out Steves other CD's they are all awesome especially Voyage of the Acolyte.
Just listen, Steve Hackett and Randy Crawford great song ¡¡¡
Superb track which I have listened to for many years - Mainly down to a young lady that slipped through my hands - I play this when I need to remind myself of how stupid I was ............
A dream.
OMG I am a huge Genesis fan but I've never heard this song!
What a jewel have I been missing....I'm going to buy this CD right away~!
@clavinet1 Saw it yesterday and indicate it as a spam, hoping YouTube would close the account of this guy... Thanks for your reaction.
How Tony,Phil and Mike passed on this song is beyond comprehension!! Start your own "New" GENESIS, STEVE, WITH ANTHONY PHILLIPS AND CHRIS SQUIRE,NOW THAT WOULD FREAK OUT pETER,ETC.!!!
great piece!
At this time I had only good memories, from this Album ...
Thanks for the post Clavinet1, a lovely song it is good to hear again. Got goosebumps listening :)
What is so amazing about this song is the melding of a complex chord progression akin to prog rock, with the wonderful R&B stylings of Randy Crawford. It is a great nod to both worlds and shows they can exist within the context of the same song! That bridge is a killer, and Randy's vocal return!
