Stephen Stills - Do For The Others Lyrics
Round, round, up and down
All along the lonely town
See him sinkin' low
Doesn't see the joy there is to know
And he lies singin' harmony
She is gone there is no tomorrow
It is done so now he must borrow
The life of his brothers and living in sorrow
Must do for the others
A chill wind hits his face
Was that a tear I thought I saw a trace?
Loving people everywhere
Where is she? She is not there
And he cries from the misery
And he lies singin' harmony
She is gone there is no tomorrow
It is done so now he must borrow
The life of his brothers and living in sorrow
Must do for the others

Awesome... a real experience watching and listening to that exceptional video.
His message conveys the significance of a close-knit community. Allegiance to one's neighbors ...... the family of us all. I hear it; 'gotta love it! Stills is a true talent & message maker. I'm a fan! * Cav *

The truth is. Still was a leader before Clapton was a name. Just ask Clapton himself!

OH MY GOD!...It's that last chord ringing out that gets me every time I hear it man!
This is one of my top favo songs since it hit my record player back in 1970!
I knew they were excellent guitar and songwriters players since l first heard them guess It Was '77,but what gets me in other place is how Stephen stills plays and sings, and together are the best.
In 1970 I played this album over, and over, and over again. You brought back more memories that I can tell you. Thank you Eduardo for sharing.
To me..the best all around singer/songwriter /guitar/musician..ever.
he is good isn't he I don't think I've ever heard better acoustic thank you God bless you Stephen, I have seen you a few times thank you God bless so very much for your music
This song feels like some lone guy walked into a town ......... & did something decent for a complete stranger. Somehow the 2 became brief friends ......... & the world smiled for both. It's a smooth, easy, contemplative tune with just enough morality to make it right! Thanks, Stephen! * Cav *
Insightful lyricism is his claim to fame..... a true human
great sentiments off doing for others despite one's own emotional love problems. From his terrific debut album, after being away from CSNY.
Excellent song writer, guitarist and singer but seriously in need of a hair stylist to sort him out in the image department.
Best. Song. Ever. My favorite Stephen Stills song. I still feel as excited about it today as I did when I first heard it.
One of the best albums ever made ...

What a great song
Love his mellow awareness in this song beautiful
He's by far the most talented of CSNY.. Funny, he always wanted to be in a band with Joe Walsh. That would have been really cool...
This is awesome, thank you so much. Where did all the pics come from.
Hes still my favorite
Such a great song and a nice video. Nice pics of SS that I'd never seen. This is a great album, one of the best.

When you take a look down over the covers on Y:T. of this song, it confirms the unique musicality of Stephen Stills
Stephen is the man!
Is it sad that I think he looked better with the beard? I wish he'd kept it around a bit longer.
Nice song!

This song is good company whenever I'm feeling glum.

EF ~ Henry Diltz ~ Wrote a piece on his FB page regarding this photo session W/Steven Stills ~
Gran canción y video. Mil gracias x subirlo!!!
thank you steph for your songs that inspire us here in Philippines your one of a million fans
This is a great Stills song that somehow escaped my attention for too many years. I recently bought it for the iPod to try and offset all the One Direction my kids listen to.
TanzDerSchatten sorry about your kids
Muito boa edição, excelente trabalho, reflete a calma que a música me traz.
I wish I could play my guitar in rhythm, I'll get it,
What a dashing young troubador Stephen was back in those days.
Stephen is one of the greatest guitar players of all time - electric or acoustic ( or even bass! ). He is incredibly under-rated. His acoustic stuff is just the best - so distinctive ( just listen to the CD "Just Roll Tape" ). His work with Buffalo Springfield, CSN and CSNY, his solo stuff and his Manassas albums are all full of wonderful playing. Thanks for all the great performances Stephen!
His piano - organ - keyboard work is exceptional, too.
Don't forget Super Session with Al Kooper.
Also add "Stephen Stills Live", Atlantic Records (1975), recorded 1974 in Chicago, with Side 1: Electric, & Side 2: Acoustic.
It feeds the soul!
I've seen him play several times live. Not many at his level of acoustic playing.
Actually he used to get a lot of credit....Guitar Player magazine etc. often had articles and poles putting him on top....
One of my many favorites from Stephen Stills. Great video. I've been listening to Stills since the days of Buffalo Springfield. Good memories.
I think Still's voice is underrated, probably cause he is such a magnificent guitar player and songwriter.
Stephens records have inspired so many artist. Not underrated at all!
What a vinyl !! Jimi Hendricks,Eric Clapton,David Crosby,Grahman Nash,Rita Coolidge,Claudia Lanier,John Sebastian,Booker T Washington all super stars in their own right on Stephen Stills record, way back when it was all about the music and not about egos
Wow ... Nice Video!
What's he smoking in that pipe?
Tobacco, you moron.
Hopefully, nothing, but possibly the deadly tobacco drug.

thundergod129 I shudder to think how stills passing the monkees audition would have fucked up folk rock as we know it now
Stills ist still the wolverine of his time
What a great video to accompany this song! One of Stephens' best! Thank you for posting!
Thanks a lot my firend.
Great photo montage of Henry Diltz photos there.
Thanks for the great photo set, too. That lovely scenery is part of the Stills experience, too.
One of my favorite Still songs!! Best dam acoustic guitar players ever!!
Did you know that steven test out the run of the Wah Wah pedal with a guitar God.
Electric ,too! Stills a guitar virtuoso.
Great job, thank you. I thoroughly enjoyed your photos while listening to one of my all time favorite singers singing this classic song
Thank you very much for your comments and for enjoying my work, and yes it is also one of my favorite singer and composer.
That's Micky Dolenz, I do believe. Hanging out.
Song sounds like a mandate. I'm sure they didn't want to lose him too..
Interesting story, Stills was auditioning for The Monkees in 1967 soon after the demise of Buffalo Springfield. He wasn't enough of a candy ass so Steve's good friend Peter Tork tried out and got the gig as one of the manufactured quartet.
Apparently he had that all american look they were looking for.
Of coarse this helped shape the future of rock and folk music when Stills went on to have a Hall of Fame Career as one of the founding fathers of the genre along with as you know, Crosby Nash and sometimes Young....
@Thundergod129 There is something about Florida boys. They take the blues very seriously. Black Queen is a great example; and this album has everyone from Garcia to Hendrix. It's a jewel.
I read that Stills was rejected from the Monkees because management didn't like his teeth.
+Thundergod129 Nope. Monkees auditions were in 1965. Buffalo Springfield was in its most active period in '67. Stills had no interest in acting on the show but wanted to get his original songs involved with the show. The producers said he would have to give up his publishing, so he declined. They asked if he knew anyone who'd be interested in auditioning and he recommended Tork, who technically was as good a musician as Stills.
This song is about Crosby's girlfriend who died in a car wreck just before CSN was formed. She is gone- there is no tomorrow.
Is that a Dave Osborn 41 Viking jersey Stephen is wearing?
Yep, that would be Dave Osborn.
+Bud Judkins it's an LSU jersey ... did the research years ago...
+roger barone Makes sense, but Osborne did wear #41 back in the day.
Love, love this video!
Great first solo album. Fantastic photos! Thanks for sharing.
FORGOTTEN CLASSIC AND ESSENTIAL STILLS!!

Magical
quantas fotos ótimas!!! :)
I have always loved this album and song, I did not know that these additional photos existed and I am amazed. What a wonderful montage to go with this song. I just love it.
Has anyone else noticed the similarity between this song and Harry Chapin's The Cat's in the Cradle? Not the words but the guitar parts and melody.
I love this song..and you've used some great pics. in this. :)
Wow man great job. Beautiful pics.
Perhaps one of the greatest songs from one of the 20th century's greatest musicians. It brings back memories so thick you'll have to brush them away like cobwebs.
Henry Lister
As I approach my 62nd birthday I find myself reflecting a lot and these songs do indeed expose the memories and the cobwebs
Nice video EF, nice to see other photos from the original photo session for the LP cover. I've never seen them before.
Great song
Excellent. loved it and switched lights off as you sugessted, makes one heck of a difference and with eyes closed even better. Great Job, nice audio
