Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks - Shiggy Lyrics

Come from the underground
Throw me right back where I belong
I got no time for this [?]
Whenever forever

All right
You've seemed the blind opinions
You've seen them walking so damn tall
I'd like to be your best friend
Whenever forever
All right

Don't speak your dumb wisdom
I'm not so easily confused
I've been the runaround [?]
Taking forever

All right
You got the sticks a-talking
You've got a fine imagination
Of all the minor slave
Taking forever

Nobody sees you
Nobody stares
It's part of the reason
Part of the dare

The lead singer looks like he should be out in my backyard cooking steak for all the people who came to the barbeque, trying to fit an indie niche at 35+ yrs is never gonna work. I won't even mention the fact that while the music is sound, it is JUST indie mess that sounds like it should be coming from the mouths and instruments of angsty teens, not the mouth and instruments of people who are middle aged. This being said, if this is their thing so be it. Everyone needs something to do with their day.

For me, Malkmus kept on going strong way past Pavement. If you're interested, listen to the album "Pig Lib" - the entire thing is fantastic. The song "Water and a Seat" might be his most well-known song (from that timeframe, anyway), but it showcases so much of the fantastical weirdness Malkmus and the Jicks exemplified. Then check out "Do Not Feed the Oysters" for some interesting lyrics and a preview of their jamming/song transformation abilities. From there, jump into "Animal Midnight" for some of the best vibes and grooves music can provide, then dive into "One Percent of One" for your heavy, shredding guitar to round it all out. That album is SOLID.

I'm probably the same age as you are and i'm into indie music as well. Even as a kid from this time period i tell you, pavement is absolutely phenomenal (at least to me). Its never wrong to know the old classics, makes you notice influences. (Btw “cut your hair“ is just a very poppy tip of the eisberg)

Ageist and ignorant! A winning combo
