Steam Powered Giraffe - Shattered Stars Lyrics

My love, your eyes have never been so bright
Radiating through the night
And they burn in you

My heart has always tended to be blue
Though I think it's strange but true
I think I'm finding I'm in love with you

But my stubborn heart is rusted in its place
And all your shattered stars won't fill your outer space
But if you rely on me, I'll let my world remain in you
Just promise all you say is true

My mind, how easily that you define
Thoughts I only thought were mine
Clearer in your view

Your smile, I spotted something in your smile
Though I know it's been awhile
I get the feeling that you love me too

But my stubborn heart is rusted in its place
And all your shattered stars won't fill your outer space
But if you rely on me, I'll let my world remain in you
Just promise all you say is true

My love is reeling slowly to the light
Positively amplified
Never wants to stop

Your smile, I spotted something in your smile
Though I know it's been awhile
I get the feeling that you love me too

But my stubborn heart is rusted in its place
And all your shattered stars won't fill your outer space
But if you rely on me, I'll let my world remain in you
Just promise all you say is true

    Amazing Artists!!!!!!!

  17. B.... S....

This reminds me of "I don't have a name for it" entirely because of how much fun they're having making the video. They are definitely my favoritebunch of dorks.

  18. N.... M....

I can't get enough of Bryan's voice. Love seeing the songs where he does lead vocals!

  19. B.... S....

Despite how great this song is it's still somehow only my fourth favorite on the new album.

    B.... S....

The video is the most fun though

I'm beyond lost with all the lineup changes minus bunny's beautiful transition...can any1 give me an easy breakdown or chronology from the beginning? Or at least a link...I'm new to SPG and I want too see where this takes me...thanks ahead of time

    S.... W....

David/The Spine & Bunny/Rabbit started the band as a busking act with Jon/The Jon and Erin/Upgrade around 2008 with some accompaniment by Micheal Reed. Erin left when they started being more of a band because music wasn't her thing and Jon left later on due to not being able to commit the time needed. Their then drummer Sam/Hatchworth became the new robot in Jon's place and stayed with them for something like 4 years (I'm pretty Bunny transitioned towards the beginning-middle of this time period), but then he really wanted to go do his own creative projects so they found Bryan/Zero to be the new robot in Hatchworth's place.

(The Jon & Upgrade are on their 1st version of Album One and The Jon is one Album One ver. 2 and Two Cent Show. Hatchworth is on Mark III, SteamWorld Heist, The Vice Quadrant, and Quintessential. Zero doesn't have an album to be on yet, but when it comes out Shattered Stars will be one of his songs on the new album. :) Oh and Micheal Reed has his own songs on Album One, but plays a lot of background stuff for multiple albums I believe. And of course The Spine & Rabbit are on all the albums and singles.)

Micheal left sometime early on in Hatchworth's years because they couldn't afford to travel with so many people (so they cut out the drummer too; I feel bad that I can't think of his name...), but he joined back up after Bryan/Zero joined.

Steve is their sound guy among other random things (but mostly their sound guy) and he's been around since they were buskers... though I don't think he actually worked for them for a while after they really became an act/band that performed on stages and such after Erin left.

I can't tell you about all the various Walter Workers they've had but Chelsea has been around for a maybe 5 years and Camille joined not that long after to replace the other Walter Worker that left. They've had... like 5 different Walter Workers?

Long story short, they're all really great and have brought different things to the band that keep it fresh and interesting. <3
Try looking SPG up on Wikipedia. I think it'll answer anything I didn't. Hope that helps.

  25. R.... B....

Am I the only one who feels Zero needs a hat? Get that robot a hat

  26. M.... M....

Omg when Michael Reed pops up all out of focus, made me laugh

  27. F.... C....

Love your music!! Have all grown so much over the years.. thank you for bringing us all some joy

  28. D.... M....

I feel like Zero doesn't get to sing often. He should get some more lead vocal time like this!

  29. Z.... ....

It seemed to me that the twins were drowning zero out during the chorus.

  30. A.... T....

    2:59
Spine being a bastard, as per usual. I love him.

  31. S.... M....

Your love is lifting me higher...?

  32. D.... ....

I'm only now making my return to the fandom and I don't know the guys name, but I like what he has to add now. It's always good seeing how the new chapters to SPG change the dynamic and how things flow together.

  33. s.... ....

    Dang you guys rock!

  34. G.... G....

Thank you so much SPG for this bop! Now I know what my first dance with my future partner at our wedding will be to

  35. z.... m....

I dont understand the hate for Zero , he is is own bot and I love it. I also love you guys so much. Anytime i am in a funk you guys bring me out of it

    z.... m....

I think part of it is that he's come after hatchworth (whom is my personal favorite so maybe I'm. Biased). I think zero is rather talented and I'm honestly excited to see how he improves and grows, but compared to rabbit and the spine it feels like his movements feel less convincing. I'm pretty sure it was mentioned at some point that he moved with the help of springs which is a really cool concept and I feel like he could convey that more in his performance!

  36. j.... ....

    Too fun!

  37. n.... a....

Rabbit: quiet I'm trying to poop!
The Spine: you're a robot you can't poop!
    Rabbit: I CAN STILL TRY!!😂😂

  38. k.... ....

The black and white portions of the mv remind me of the wee woo episode of spongebob lol

  39. R.... S....

    Rabbit at the end. I can't 😂

  40. D.... L....

Love your music, the harmonies are brilliant!!!

  41. M.... ....

so many layers of creative. thank you. so good.

  42. g.... ....

These guys must throw a hell of a party

  43. A.... N....

I love the guitarist in the shades!!

  44. H.... ....

I love watching how much Steam Powered Giraffe has grown from John to Hatchworth and now Zero and even Rabbits transformation <3 not one time did anyone seem out of place and every one of them brought their own flare to the group...one of my top 3 bands for sure

  45. W.... E....

Omg Zero is so fun loving

  46. M.... N....

I love the soulness to this song.

  47. S.... ....

    Incredible as ever

  48. L.... E....

Sounds like Town Called Malice by The Jam but I love it either way :D

  49. T.... ....

Just an idea, as I was watching the video for it, I would love to see and hear a Steam Powered rendition of the Poets of the Fall song, Carnival of Rust.

  50. O.... H....

I am quite new to your band. And quite late to this video. 😂 But I am absolutely in LOVE with the work you do!!! The creativity behind every video and every song is beautiful! You all are truly works of art! Love you guys! Keep moving forward!!!

  58. G.... A....

So sad this great idea blind sided by culture instead of staying true to the original plan

  59. V.... ....

I'll never get over Spine with dem legs

  60. c.... ....

Spotify played your song Honeybee on my Daily Mix playlist yesterday and I loved it so much I looked it up. I am so sad that I had never heard of y'all before, but also happy cause it's been a long time since I was excited about listening to a new (to me) artist. I like this song as much as Honeybee, so I have high hopes for the rest of it. I'm telling everyone I know about you. 💙

  61. A.... F....

I love the Beatles bass that zero plays.

  62. g.... b....

  74. P.... ....

Can we some behind the scenes videos for the latest SPG videos? Just looks like they’d be hilarious!

  75. 4.... C....

Oh my God it's beautiful. The song gives vibes like Jessica by The Allman Brothers. Supreme!

  76. B.... H....

Are you guys coming to the Chicago area at any time?

  77. j.... ....

Bands w a “look” sometimes lack musical substance but clearly that’s not the case here. Damn well done.

  78. R.... J....

So glad y’all are still making new music

  79. M.... P....

    Great song. Needs more cowbell!

  80. D.... P....

Zero seems to be very full... of joy!

  81. C.... M....

    Wow!!!!!

  82. D.... P....

I love that these videos are not only infectiously poppy and uplifting grooves, but ALSO masterclasses in physical characterization. Dickens Fair is coming up and this is super useful. :D

  83. A.... A....

This is all I can hear Jackie Wilson - (Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher And Higher. Very classic song.

I love so much this guy. One of the best for me

  87. M.... M....

what a voice zero! i need more SPG in my ears

  88. I.... 2....

I don’t know if this is killing the vibe, but i thought the think wi the band was having a lot of robotic movements? Idk I just got into these guys and started watching vids from those zoo uploads. I got some questions tho

  89. B.... S....

Def going in the good music playlist

  90. P.... S....

"Your Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher" Well, someone was a huge Jackie Wilson fan.

  91. S.... M....

Zero has such an amazing voice. Love you guys

  92. K.... B....

This is the first time I've heard Zero in the band and I am absolutely in love.

  93. J.... W....

I love this, it reminds me deeply of "Lifting me higher and higher", if you can hear it. Crazy similar.

  94. z.... ....

    Damn, zer0, you smoov!

  95. K.... B....

I'm totally new to this band but can I get some help, what is these characters names and do y'all have recommendations for songs. I have a form of autism and these songs could help when I'm in public or too stressed. Thanks for the help

    K.... B....

Zero is the one mainly singing in this video, he is built from the parts of three different robots, hence the gold and silver colouring.
The Spine is the all silver (and black) one with the fedora. He is meant to by hi-tech so his design in sleeker.
Rabbit is the one with a white faceplate (with blue and copper accents) and goggles, she is often the one to glitch out the most. She's changed her design a lot over the years as both she and the person behind the character (Bunny) are trans. If you go back and watch older videos it's a safe bet that the one with goggles and three belts is Rabbit. (Also it's easy to tell because of the stutter that the character has).

    As for other characters
Michael Reed is the human in the white jumpsuit, he's been in the band for a long time and he might not be one of the bots but the fans still love him very much. He's able to play a variety of instruments and has been dubbed "The One Man Band"
There are two Walter Workers, Chelsea (shorter blue hair) and Camille ( longer hair), they are mostly seen only in the live shows, but it seems that's changing! Either way they are here to make sure the Robots are working during live shows!
Steve Negrete is the one with the colourful dreads and black jumpsuit, he is the live show sound engineer, he also voices two of the A.I robots (but this is getting long so I'll leave that up to you to discover!

There have been past robots as well, The Jon and Hatchworth are two you'll most likely see, this band has extensive lore and complex characters so if that's your thing you can always poke around on the websites and wikis.
If you're more here for casual enjoyment I shall recommend Brass Goggles (a fan favorite), HoneyBee (also Fan favorite), Starlight Star-shine, Rex Marksley, and "I Don’t Have a Name For It"
Hope you enjoy your time here! If you have any more questions feel free to ask!

  96. S.... G....

Love your music, hope you guys make it big in the music industry.

  97. N.... ....

I am so happy to see that yall are still making awesome music.

Brayden Cluff Technology is always advancing, true. My subjective opinion, though, is that I find the stiff animatronic movements to be charming. It’s one of the things I’ve always liked about this band.

To that effect Rabbit puts on a good show here.

    Good form, Rabbit! Good form!

    Steam Powered Giraffe

Just wanted to say I show your music to people whenever I can, particularly honey bee (which is a masterpiece on the level of mr. Blue sky imo)

Keep shining you beautiful stars, and I’ll excitedly point you out to all my friends

    S.... P....

To be honest I had never heard of you until just tonight. Your music showed up in the list of videos to watch and I was intrigued by the name. I was not disappointed at what I heard. So now I have some "new" to me music to listen to! Thank you!!
