Steam Powered Giraffe - Circuitry Lyrics

At first I thought this song was creepy. Now after several listenings I just find it weirdly calming.

BUT WHAT THE HECK IS THAT SOUND AT THE END SUPPOSED TO BE?

I read somewhere that it's a thing called the Steam Powered Giraffe roar. David made that sound one day and decided to just sprinkle it in somewhere in every album.

Everytime I hear that sound I smile lol to me it's kinda like their signature

The first time I heard this, I had no idea it was a SPG song until the very end. Lol.

Wish it wasn't so hard to understand without the lyrics. But hey, it's supposed to be spooky and eerie and hard to understand :) The Jon definitely brought those elements to the table.

You spelled accordion right, but the instrument being played is probably a melodica! Bunny's melodica is featured in a lot of their older songs.

@Leopardmask But so was her accordion. Like Suspender man, and maybe also Ghost Grinder? :) But it can be melodica, I'm not sure :D

@Nika Oh, that's true! I forgot that an actual accordion does feature in a couple songs. It's hard to tell the two instruments apart, too.

Is anyone experiencing problems with the audio? Like it sounds right but it sounds distorted and I can only hear a few lyrics here and there but they sound all staticky

yes its supposed to be eerie and staticky.

I thought the static and distortion was an excellent touch--I feel like it's a throwback to the beginning of Electricity Is In My Soul.

Ever since the Mummers stopped putting out new material, I've been looking for a band with an eclectic vaudeville/carnival-esque sound to fill that spot. Glad I came across SPG.

He absolutely should. I'd love to hear him try to voice that. Even without a backing track on a livestream would be cool. Oh and Bunny and Sam would be great at singing the higher verses.

Modern mainstream music may be becoming more mathematically similar, but band like Steam Powered Giraffe prove that modern music is also becoming way more varied than it has ever been.

+Janna Shipper I feel like all of the Jon's songs were very psychedelic and trippy, especially lyrically. I wonder if that was supposed to be part of the Jon sort of being insane, or (more likely) Jon Sprague was just heavily inspired by the trippy music of older bands. Little Birdie sounds so psychedelic, and at the end the vocals sound almost exactly like the lead singer from Neutral Milk Hotel.
