Statler Brothers, The - Do You Remember These Lyrics
Saturday morning serials chapters 1 through 15
Fly paper, penny loafers, Lucky Strike Green
Flat tops, sock hops, Studebaker, Pepsi please
Ah, do you remember these?
Styx nose plugs and aviator caps with flaps that button down
Movie stars on Dixie Cup tops and knickers to your knees
Ah, do you remember these?
The hit parade, grape Tru-Aid, the Sadie Hawkins dance
Pedal pushers, duck tail hair, and peggin' your pants
Howdy-Doody, Tutti-Frutti, the seam up the back of her hose
Ah, do you remember those?
James Dean, he was keen, Sunday movies were taboo
Cracker Jack prize, stars in your eyes, ask daddy for the keys
Ah, do you remember these?
The bogeyman, lemonade stand, and takin' your tonsils out
Indian burn and wait your turn and four foul balls you're out
Cigarette loads and secret codes and savin' lucky stars
Can you remember back that far?
To boat neck shirts and fender skirts and crinoline petticoats
Mum's the word and a dirty bird and a double root beer float
Moon hub caps and loud heel taps and he's a real gone cat
Ah, do you remember that?
Dancin' close, little moron jokes, and cooties in her hair
Captain Midnight, Ovaltine, and The Whip at the County Fair
Charles Atlas Course, Roy Roger's Horse, and only The Shadow knows
Ah, do you remember those?
Gable's charm, Frog in your arm, loud mufflers, pitchin' woo
Going steady, Veronica and Betty, white bucks, and Blue Suede Shoes
Knock Knock jokes: Who's there? Dewey. Dewey who?
Do we remember these? Yes we do. Ah, do we, do we remember these

GREAT SONG.....It really brings back a lot memories.....It was the best time to grow up.....I was very fortunate to grow up in that era.....I wish I could back to those GREAT YEARS.
And now the beautiful Statler Bros are also nostalgia. God bless them!
Ken Burns biggest omission in his Documentary. He missed it completely.

Yes actually I can remember the vast majority of these....
Great song, I so loathed those seams on the nylons!!
Should have mentioned 10 cents for a phone call or a Coke.
Or a nickel candy bar
I was a teen in the 50s; I've told my grandkids and anybody else who would listen that it was the best time ever to be a teen. Of course I remember everything in the song. What a happy time that was! Things have gotten so complicated now.
Watching this video reminds me of how much life has changed. And I do remember so many of those!
Great Song.....I remember all of it growing up...I wish I could go back to those days. .I was so fortunate to be growing up in those days.
Daddy's socks rolled down... Why the heck was he flippin' the bird? WHAT WAS THAT?????
Damn the Statler Brothers were good.
When they had a good tenor, Lou.
Is it awkward that even tho I'm 14 I'm feeling nostalgic?
One possible explanation: ReiNCarNATiOn
@Silverstar the Nightwing or maybe I just luv the classics
@Marcus Blackwell Maybe. Ik I do! You're older than me, but still....
@Silverstar the Nightwing wow. Ur younger? Plot twist
I remember ALL of those!
Oh I surely do!!! ☺😊😄
I love this song and this is a great video, I a subbed.
Sadly I remember too many of them...haha
I lived in Memphis in 1992, and a Piggly Wiggly grocery store was there, still in business. I thought at that time, none existed, so I was surprised.
I'm 30 years old and this was the music that I grew up listening to with my dad. I have a playlist that has oldies back when music was actually music. Love it still to this day 😊. So many memories
I am 44 and I remember all of this
I'm 62 years old and I remember seeing it on TV and/or actually doing it. Stockings with the seam, wow, I remember seeing marilyn monroe wear them on TV. A&W rootbeer stands, rootbeer floats.
Don't get me wrong I like Jimmy Fortune but they could have found a picture or clip of the late Lewis DeWitt who sang tenor on this.
Sad to say, but, yes I do remember these. Those long ago days when everything was simpler, unlike today's hurry up world.
Sure do, I just about forgot the first time i received an Indian burn, or penny loafers, Being a certified verified admirer of great looking legs I do remember the lines in back of her hoses, we still have barn sock-hops,
"remember this.......remember this" -south park

Ohh memories!!
John Wessel used to say The Statlers on his radio show
OH, yes I remember these
Sometimes I just want to go home, to a time when home WAS home. 10/2019
Can't wait to send my 86-yr-old Dad this link of his favorite song that I used to play on the radio for him, WSVL-Shelbyville, Ind. Thanks for posting!
If only I could find 3 guys around here who'll do this with me.....OH IF ONLY.
Pure genius songwriting!! Too good to believe. Just great lyrics on and on. So much talent the Statler Brothers had.
Grew up hearing the Statler Brothers. They had some serious songs, but its their fun ones like these I remember most.
I’m 55 and The Statler Brothers we’re so amazing! Part of my youth! ❤️❤️❤️

William Fabrey I graduated in 61 and remember these too! Great memories.
I was in high school '51-'54 and yes, I remember those things, what a great time it was then. The music was good then too.
Oh yes, I remember these. They were part of the glorious post-WWII golden age of America, and a blessed past never to be recovered.
47 years old, and I remember this song from my childhood , momma and daddy listened to this music and past on to me and I passing it on to my girls
I’m 78. Remember well! Thanks.
I wasn't very close to my father but he loved this song and now that he's gone I miss him this song reminds me of him
it was great growing up in the 60's
Great visuals Viking.

THANK YOU.
Why isn't Lew pictured in this video? He was the one in this recording, not that replacement guy...
I wish i remembered these but i am only 12
I love the accompanying pictures, since I don't understand some of what they sang. Now I do. Well done!
🤣🤣
Nope I don't remember any of that shit but I dig this
🤣🤣🤣 I feel so bad for you. I guess I'm the last one at 35.
@jed4426 hahaha yeah man I'm just an innocent youngun itd be legit if I had a time machine
I'm 80 and of course, I remember all of those. Neat song, and good music. Thanks.
Graduated in 55, and I remember all of those thing and a lot more!!!
:29 now what are they saying, i think i know but it makes no sense HELP
no offense, Jimmy Fortune was very, very good, but there will never ever be anotherLew DeWitt
Liz Linville for sure
I was born in the 70' but I think you were lucky to be born in that time
Lucky me. I saw the Statler Bros. on their first show at Salt Lake's Patio Gardens as part of the Johnny Cash Show. That was 1963.
Hey Richard Skola I think your timeline is off a bit, The Statler Brothers didn't join The Johnny Cash Show until March of 1964. They mention that date in their tribute song to Johnny, We Got Paid By Cash.
AAAAWAAAAAAYYY
The sweet peaceful tunes of these guys
Hello vietnam
Many many years ago! My mother’s family had a picnic at Gypsy Hill Park and Don and Harold were there for a picnic also! P S I will never forget the songs when Lew was singing with them!
Is it Sunday mourning again?
Do you children remember that?
How many Books do have we have remember, umm?
Look's like another bible quiz again, Wow. Upps!
Stefanie Anderson what?
Why is this, I can not listen to the Statler Bros. now?
A Great America!
What a time it was!
i'm 15 remembering all these.. this sung 40 years from now would be funny... Spinnin beyblades! droppin tilted! aaaaaah so you remember that
lucas hildebrand why don’t you write an updated version? It would be cool!
how in the world can so many people dislike this video? they must not be a fan at all of the Statler brothers or older style county music. this is a great video and song
They don't dislike the Statler Brothers or Country Music. What they dislike is the America of the 1950s and 60s. Their hatred is palpable. They like to misery of the 21st Century. Hell, lock your doors to keep these people out. Leave them to the colleges and the multi million dollar Oberlin decision.
Wow I guess some people haven't remembered this
Kind of a shame if you ask me.
I take issue with the Trader Joe's root beer. Trader Joe's wasn't even around till 1967. Nah, it's A&W. Period. Other than that one glaring error I LOVE this bit.
You are right, it was A&W.
I remember A&W Rootbeer Barrel Stands. In California, driving old HWY 99 in the early 60s there were Orange shaped buildings selling fresh squeezed Ice Orange Juice, and Lemonade.
If I could go back I would! Amazing song, amazing musicians, and it was an amazing time to be a kid back then.
MEMORIES....
Nope, I don't remember any of them...
But then if I were to talk about IXL, Amscol, Golden Fleece, FUIC, Chad Morgan or Harold Holt...
Most likely many people wouldn't know what I'm talking about!
ok i will say it who the hell were they what year and what type of music did they sing ?
Ilike all the comments. Really like the oñes from the youñg people my daughter is in her mid thirties. So l am getting older too. But i dont let people c that. Maybe im not that old after all. God bless each and every one of u.
Thanks for the memories.
A super GREAT song and a so well put together video! Thank you!
Remember all of them
this song is about the 1950s
Patriot It’s about the 1950’s and different events and things from before that...
Agreed, I am 66 and I remember Levis pants with a genuine Leather Patch, Four balls and you were out in sandlot games, Over the line and invisible baseball games.
At 0:23, seeing the Pepsi machine brought back memories (I'm 55 now). Also at 1:30, the bass (don't know his name) said "Four foul balls, you're out". Did it used to be that way?
When you played baseball, kickball or softball at school, you always played where if you got four foul balls you were called out to limit the time of the game since you played in gym or at recess.
Harold reid is the bass. He still lives here in staunton along with jimmy. I see jimmy walkin around the park every now and then.
I remember all of these things and it made me think of other things. 90 % of what we use today
was invented in my life time
thanks love you guys
Oh yes I remember those. Those were the good ole days.....
Great song about yesteryear.
A multi- generational song!
I am glad I am the age I am (except when it comes to women) I got to grow up with all that great stuff.
I'm only 43 but I remember some of this stuff.
Great Memories
Still one of the best country songs out there! Love the Statlers!
X. I sure do remember
I sure dk
