Stacy Lattisaw - My Love Lyrics

Back in the days
Of used to be
The child in me
My love
So like the flower
By the apple tree
You and me
My love

Only you
Can change
My lonely nights
Only you can shine
The brightest light
Within my soul, my soul

Sun filled the clouds
All around you then
All around you in
My love
No need to follow
What has gone away
I am here to stay
My love

Only you
Can change
My lonely nights
Only you can shine
The brightest light
Within my soul

Back in the days
Of used to be
The child in me
My love
No need to follow
What has gone away
I am here to stay
My love...
My love...
My love...
My love, my love...

I bought this album when it first came out, l was in middle school and this was my favorite track, it's really a very beautiful song and to be as young as Stacy was on this album, she had a very mature rich sound in particularly on this track. It's really nice hearing this again after many, many, many years. This will definitely be on my play list.

  3. L.... W....

  8. J.... W....

This is my favorite song for my mom

    J.... W....

From my mom love you mom

  9. S.... E....

The accompaniment on this track is almost entirely acoustic, I say "almost" because there is a Polymoog synth. being used for the strings, but other than that it's just piano and acoustic bass.

  10. t.... ....

I was ,16 when I bought this album in 1980 and that's been 40 years ago and I love it just as if it was yesterday.

  11. R.... A....

Truly one of the best singers...I sang "Let Me Your Angel" at age 7 at so many talent shows in the DC area...but this song is one that is so emotional...Personally, I think it was about Johnny Gill...(can u blame a girl)

  12. k.... ....

Heart felt song ..Stacy really laid this track down....

  13. a.... f....

♥ FOREVER THE HEARTBEAT OF LIFE AND LOVE SONG... Michael Narada Walden penmanship and Stacy's vocals and the arrangement exquisite.

  17. c.... a....

just took me to heaven and back this song :).

  18. M.... M....

    Michael Walden

  19. a.... g....

it really is magnificent - and no tricks, no quick throat, no Mariah squeakery - as 3rd verse starts, Stacy almost speaks the line, and there I too am slain

  20. L.... J....

My parents brought this album for my 11th birthday ; I played this song non-stop along with her other song "Let Me Be Your Angel". But, My Love holds a special place for me. Stacy Lattisaw was definitely before her time....very talented.

    L.... J....

Lyric Jo same here and I think she was about 12 or 13 when she made this album

  21. S.... A....

    Amazing

  22. a.... g....

wow - this hook is worthy of Stevie Wonder - NMW at work as songwriter again, and when its time to bang the club, he performs the bed track for the artist

    a.... g....

    @*****
thoughtful comment, thanks - listening again I notice intellectual arrangement & ending - the straighforward, unadorned vocal style (which disappeared from female R&B leads) - Mr Walden's composition this time reminded me of Coltrane

  23. V.... C....

One of my favorite songs as a child!  Oh, the memories, pining away for the (unattainable) boy I loved. <3

  24. s.... ....

Love this song - miss the music from back then!!

  25. S.... B....

You know how you can hear a song and remember it for YEARS? This song stuck to my soul...I was in love with someone named Michael back then...Young love.

  26. S.... ....

I'm in tears. This song brings back so many memories. I wish Stacy would come back and sing her heart out. Miss this kind of music.

  27. J.... B....

    beautiful song!!!!

  28. B.... J....

    love this song.

  29. A.... M....

It does not get any better than this. Beautiful, beautiful. As the judges on American Idol would say today, Believable and she connects...with our hearts and souls.

  30. L.... D....

She had such a pure, beautiful and soulful voice at such a young age. The only other person in history to come close to Micheal Jacksons stunning childhood voice is this girl right here!

  31. c.... ....

    girlfriend was mad talented ...

  32. c.... ....

wow..havent heard this song is years. Still sounds great

  33. s.... c....

In my previous comment _ and I can't believe that I did not mention the music of Whitney Houston. The melodies of a lot of her music float in the air like butterflies. I also like the song Black Butterfly ( Deniece Williams)

  34. s.... c....

I agree with a number of comments about this song. It has a hauntingly beautiful melody and stacy's voice is just perfect for it. There aren't many songs that could be described like that today.-don't get it twisted- they're out there but hard to find. Other songs that i think of are from waaaaaaay back-like Nature Boy (Nat or Natalie Cole) Alfie (Dionne Warwicke) I Am Ready For Love (India. Arie) not so far back.

  35. J.... K....

cryin my eyes out right now

  36. V.... G....

    jomo jomo jomo!!!!

  37. C.... A....

this will always be one of my favorite songs, nothing but love for stacy... my home gril "FOREVER STACY"

  40. O.... J....

@TAY...I can send it to your email if you like?

  41. O.... J....

    @1906tlikr ...WELL SAID!!!!!

  42. O.... J....

@MrChicago891 ...YOU ARE SO RIGHT! YOU INTERPRETED THIS SONG SO WELL. IT DOES TAKE YOU BACK TO WHEN WE LIVED LIFE SLOW (AS SLICK RICK PUT IT..), AND YES, IT IS SAID THAT NARADA CRIED!

  43. A.... M....

My sister's husband was killed right around the time this album was released. I remember sitting with her when we heard it for the first time.....still makes me cry. I do cherish this song, my sister, and Stacey.

  44. o.... m....
