Damn good, I need this song forever

1996. The year well established bands like Metallica, Manson, Pearl Jam, RATM and Soundgarden released solid albums. Tool's "Aenima" was also released that year which in my opinion was not only the greatest album that year, let alone the entire decade until the likes of Korn and Slipknot released their debut albums which blew me away by how unique their sound was.

Anyways, back to 1996. That summer, I discovered Stabbing Westwards second album "Wither, Blister, Burn and Peel" and automatically fell in love with the mixed emotions the music on this album made me feel. Angry, sad, happy, angry again etc. To me, this is one of the greatest albums ever and it has stood the test of time. An album from a group of artists that barely had their foot in the proverbial door of music and who never really got the fame and riches that they deserved. Which is probably for the best cause they didn't get tainted and kept true to themselves instead of selling out and making crap music just to appease the masses.

At 52, I just heard this song for the first time a couple weeks back. Had to take a pic of my Sirius xm so I wouldn't forget it. Never a big fan of them, liked em, but not a band I would go out of my way to listen to. How I missed this song is beyond me. I cant turn the volume dial up any higher.....

Since I am this age is it normal for me to listen to jams like this? I think it is. It means my soul is still young.

I got to see and meet them over 10 years ago at the Glass House in Pomona Ca thanks to a Ticketmaster promo. I didn’t know who they were until the music started playing. I knew those songs!! And they rocked! Is it poor promoting?

I vividly remember relating to the lyrics to this song as a angsty 13 year old after the boy I was in love with dumped me and hung up on me summer of 96. At that time I thought my life was over and I'd blast this song and feel sorry for myself lol..If only I knew how easy life was back then! Now an adult in my 30s with responsibilities and just the ups and downs of everyday life I realize how silly I was . But this is still an amazing song. Kind of underrated in my opinion

The first time I saw this video it was purely by accident and I couldn't look away... Years later, nothing's changed. One of the scariest videos I've ever seen.

This band is so underrated.. what happened to the music industry.. I miss my 70’s 80’s and early 90’s music so deep and meaningful messages through the lyrics beat and voices of these real musicians. Today’s music is a freaking joke.

Stabbing Westward is the perfect combo of power bass, slightly mentally disturbed lyrics, and a frontman with the voice of a modern fallen angel. Dark, disturbed, yet seeking.....that is the feeling one has when listening to this band. And they just don't make them like this anymore!

This song has so many perfect, unapologetic 90's alternative rock glory moments; but that progression and shift @2:26, the solid thump of the bass on a really good sound system brings enhanced feeling and emotional weight.
