I find it such a shame that Bruce “The Boss” wrote this song and sang but it didn’t go high up the charts. Then Manfred Mann earth band cut out some of the words and made it a no. 1 song. Don’t you think this is a silent crime. Well I still love the day Bruce did this song much better than they did it. Yeah. Just my feelings.

I just now learned that this is the original version. W hen we went to see "yesterday," I thought I saw a trailor about a movie about a guy who finds out he's the only one that remembers Bruce. So I had to do very little research find the name of the movie. When you hear a song and you like it, you usually don't like another version and I do like M&m's version better.

I heard the Manfred Mann version before I heard the Springsteen version. While I like both, the Springsteen version sounds like a party is going on, and puts me in a better mood. So my vote is for Bruce's version.

"Lost in the Flood" (on this album) has my fav comb of lyrics and instrumentality..."and that blaze & noise, boy, he's gunning that bitch..." makes my crotch warm. It's interesting how people often don't know the origin of a song like Manfred Mann's #1 hit, Blinded by the Light - and this is it! Hard to believe it's the same song, because it basically isn't. Lyrics somewhat the same, some homage to the original in the arrangement by Mann, but really a whole different song in many ways as well. Credit to Springsteen for his writing, but I can see why the cover went to #1.

In short Mannfred's has more movement. And the harmonies are more complex and round like. The thought here is like Joe Cocker and the Beatles" I get by with a little help from my friends. After McCartney and Lennon saw Cocker's live version at Woodstock they said "It is his song now". Now and then someone takes a really good song and makes it better. Like Hendrix with All Along the Watchtower. Much more dynamic than dylan's which is still great. My two pennies worth which is worth that much. Cheers. Also look at what Stevie Ray Vaughn did to Voodo Chile by Hendrix. Is it better than Jimi's? some say yes and other say no. But Stevie absolutely smoked that song. There is a ton of passion that Mann brought to this song. As well a wonderful compositional artistry
