Split Enz - Adz Lyrics

Everywhere...
Everywhere I see them
Everywhere I see them talking

Off the wall and on the TV

Everywhere...
Everywhere I see them
Everywhere I see them talking
In every way I've been retreating
But I know it's only going to help
If I can get it out
Off the wall and on the TV
Whatever you think, you're receiving
And of course, we take it for granted
Please, is everyone on their knees
For red herring heroes
They'll just let you down
Feign disguise
They'll tease you and tantalize
Fill you with images
I'm gonna complain

Well, I don't think it's gonna make any difference
No, no I doubt if it's gonna make any difference
Picture if it could be you
Doing anything, anything at all
Just pleasing yourself
No fast takers
No heart breakers
No mistaking
No persuading

Well, well we'll just pretend...

You two guys who are laughing away at me
Yeah, I know what you're up to (yeah)
This isn't even going to go in the album at all, is it?

Split Enz Adz Comments

Split Enz was a fresh and innovative band right from the start. They just got better and better as the evolved over the years culminating in this final album. I saw the test band for Crowded house some time later called the Mullanes. You could hear to potential but Split Enz was always special to me.

This is really good. Nigel was not only a good bassist but also a good songwriter and a decent singer. Just never had a chance to get much on the Enz albums with Tim and Neil on board. Although he did have a few key co-writes on Time and Tide.

Used to listen to Split Enz for hours when I was a teenager. All of their albums were great. This one always made the most impression most likely because it was their last. The end of an era in NZ music.

My sister had this cassette in the late 80s. I liked this song the best. Thanks for posting this.

Cool! Thanks, I have to check it out! :-)

If your interested in hearing more of Nigel's songwriting look up the album "Restless Night" by Octopus. As far as I know he wrote all the songs on it and some of the vocals.

Such a great tune written and sung by Nigel Griggs! And the lyrical theme was SO ahead of its day! Look at the state of culture now when it comes to these ubiquitous "adz"? Ugh!
