Here the reason this album bombed was because the scene was just getting over Cobain's death and it was a somber time.they should of shelved this album for a year and come out with it in the summer of 95. Not summer of 94 bad timing

Speaking from 20some years after this album dropped... the first album was amazing, and the second album was a killer followup sophomore recording. The Spin Doctors (and we should have known from the band's name) aimed their art at an intellectual audience. Those of us that do not understand the humor and the context do not fully appreciate their music.
I do not automatically respect hipsters or foodies, but... some art is meant for smart people. If you don't get that, please don't take it personally, but your opinion is considered moot by humanity, as a whole.

Not this album. Pocket Full of Kryptonite was huge in the UK but Turn It Upside Down killed them here :-( Saw them in London a couple of years ago and they played this, was great to hear it.

i wish i could have been there manager or something during the time they released this after Pocket full of Krytonight ..this should have never been a single and they should have had some serious help with  a writer.. never the less i love this song

As a huge fan I have to agree. This song, Laraby's Gang and You Let Your Heart Go To Fast were the only good songs off that second album and the rest of it was just really pretentious.

It's an old melody from USA, called The Streets of Cairo, or the Poor Little Country Maid, also known as the snake charmer song.
