Spencer Davis Group, The - Stevie's Blues Lyrics

Well, so sad and lonely since my baby went away from me
Well, so sad and lonely since my baby went away from me
Well, black night has fallen, hum, oh how I hate to be alone
Well, I woke up this morning, I found out my baby's gone away from me
Well, I woke up this morning baby, found out my baby's gone away from me
Well, black night has fallen, oh how I hate to be alone

I got the blues about my baby
Girl, you know I'm about to go out of my worried mind
I got the blues about my baby
Girl, you know I'm about to go out of my worried mind
Well black night has fallen, girl I just ain't used to your kind.

[Alternate Version:]

One, two, J, free [?]
I don't believe it [?]
Oh yeah! Come on!
I said I'm gonna leave this morning, baby
I'm gonna pack my clothes and go away from here
I said I think I'm gonna leave this morning, baby
Gonna pack my clothes and go away from here
Yes said you wake up, then you find your good man gone
Yeah in the morning baby,
That's when I have the blues
Oh, in the morning, baby,
Don't you know that's when I have the blues,
My baby's gonna left, gonna left me here to cry
There's one thing I have,
That's my love for you
Oh there's one thing I have,
I've a whole lot of love for you, baby, come on, ooh
I said my baby's gonna left, my baby's gonna left me here to cry
Come on, let's hear it now, yeah!
Oh yeah, oh yeah

[Stevie's babbling on piano solo]

(yeah yeah) oh yeah

Tell me baby,
Honey, honey what's wrong with you
Oh tell me baby,
Honey, honey what's wrong with you, ooh
? ? ? since your good man gonna left you
Oh I said I got the blues, blues about my baby
Don't you know I'm 'bout to go out of my worried mind
Well I said I got the blues about my baby
Oh don't you know I'm 'bout to go out of my worried mind
Pretty baby's gonna left me, my baby she's gone, gone away, oh yeah
Well, today I'm gonna get lucky, and down the road you know I'm goin'.

Thanks for uploading.. I'm so accustomed to the other songs (I'm A Man, Keep On Runnin', etc.) that often lose sight of this classic.

  9. Andy Thomas

Amazing stuff. I remember buying this when it came out. Their B Sides were always great! 'Can't Get Enough Of It' is another classic along with 'Blues In F'!!! An awesome talent and how old was he.... 3 or something?

Great blues guitar...Winwood can play anything...pure talent and so underated as a guitarist

  14. Peter Williams

Takes me back a few years does this - in those days stevie WAS the spencer davis group, its a pity he went hippy, but he was still fantastic

  15. AgTigress

Thank you for uploading this, Sids60sSounds. I have that 45... :-)

  16. Dick Drake

A masterclass on how to address a blues track. Listened to the drum part as a keen drummer at the age of 16...held me in good stead to back various blues bands 3 decades on. Made my night right now so it did...must get the single back from my ex!!!

  17. Vives1000

Aí, colecionador de vinil, muito massa esse som.

  21. Greg Deyermenjian

guitar1067, thanks for the information. I thought I read back then on the back of the album cover that all instruments (except drums) were Stevie? What you say sounds more likely, though.

  22. guitar1067 Sports: Classic NFL NBA

@paititi Stevies on guitar, brother Muff on bass, Spencer Davis on rhythm, Pete York drums

  23. Deanna Polk

How did he sound so good so young? Dang!

  24. Greg Deyermenjian

Stevie Winwood on all instruments and perfect vocal. A classic done before most of his peers.

  25. IDLERACER

Wow, he sounds exactly like Ray Charles on this.
