A friend of mine commited suicide at age 16, And when I looked into the open casket I wanted to knock on the glass and wake her up cause she “LOOKED” fine, like she was just sleeping. And everytime I hear this song I just get reminded of the undescribably bewildering feeling that situation brings.

I'm not sure if Regina has stated this herself but I have read from many sources that the song could be about her friend who passed away. They share the same birthday month. That would explain why she sings here: "It's February again, we must get older, so please wake up." I always think about this explanation as I listen to the song and it's just simply the most beautiful song I've ever heard. Remember though, that this is just one possible explanation - what I think is best in Regina's music, is that you can always come up with your own unique explanations to every song, they are purely magical!

I have listened to this song over and over. It's the most perfect song I've every heard. There might be a story behind it but I don't want to hear it. Listen to the song. The song is complete in itself. Everything you need to know is in the song. Perfect song. It's perfect. Simply perfect.

Here's the simple explanation. Jessica is sleeping. And if you know Regina's voice like I do because I love it so much, her tone scolds as much as her heart allows. She wants Jessica to simply wake up and live her life. We all know Jessicas who sleep in and take advantage because life is too much. I feel like she's telling me to wake up. And it's not so hard. It's actually simple. Just wake up. Yes, we must get older now and it's better to be awake to that fact.

It's about her college friend who's birthday was the same day as Regina's, that's why she says 'it's february again, we must get older', in other words, you're right :)
