Specials, The - Free Nelson Mandela Lyrics
Free Nelson Mandela
Free, free, free, free, free
Nelson Mandela
Free Nelson Mandela
Shoes too small to fit his feet
His body abused but his mind is still free
Are you so blind that you cannot see?
I said free Nelson Mandela
I'm begging you, free Nelson Mandela
Pleaded the causes at the ANC
Only one there in a large army
Are you so blind that you cannot see?
Are you so deaf that you cannot hear his plea?
I'm begging you, free Nelson Mandela
Twenty-one years in captivity
Are you so blind that you cannot see?
Are you so deaf that you cannot hear?
Are you so dumb that you cannot speak?
I said free Nelson Mandela
I'm begging you, free Nelson Mandela
Free Nelson Mandela
Begging you, begging you please
Free Nelson Mandela
You've got to, you've got to
You got to free
You got to free
You got to free
Nelson Mandela
Nelson Mandela
I'm telling you, telling you, telling you
You've got to free, you've got to free
You've got to free, you've got to free
Nelson Mandela

My social studies teacher showed me this
They're a good teacher then.
I remember this song from when I was young. It changed me then, and when I randomly (after decades) decides to listen to it tonight it still affects me. I'm glad your teacher is using it to connect students to our history.

Nelson Mandela one great man !!!! god rest his soul !
He was a good boy, 20 years out of jail and he didn't reoffend.
Hope y'all know WHY he spent multiple decades of his life in prison. He wasn't unjustly convicted. Do your research before you lavish praise upon his legacy...
Rest in peace nelson mandela
FREE AT LAST. GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN. R.I.P Nelson Mandela xx
27 years of struggle gives him a lot of experience
Openly
Commiting treason
And desire of over throw american government
Dear federal judge
Or federal prosecuter
Prosecute and punish me
If the devil thinks i am playing with my life
Then ask him
What life which he destroyed
Or what life
I am only making a bridge
From saying a fuck you to the devil
Even the construction of bridge takes a while
But it will be built
Fuck the devil
And worshippers
What life do you speak about
The devil worshippers the one you ruined
Good luck devil from stopping me from entering the iranian land
I challenge you devil worshippers
Whom have killed its own people to fulfil their greed
May do again to fulfil your greed again
And then blame me for it
Every word count federal prosecuter
Waiting for you to get going
Jerry Dammers, you legend.

To be pedantic, this is The Special AKA not the original The Specials.
Nelson Mandela, your legacy shall never be forgotten.
Nelson Mandela was a communist tyrant...how's South Africa doing now....?
The Church Street bombing was a car bomb attack on 20 May 1983 by Umkhonto we Sizwe, the military wing of the African National Congress (ANC), in Pretoria. The bomb exploded on Church Street at 4:30pm on a Friday. The bombing killed 19 people and wounded 217.
The Church Street bombing attack was commanded by Aboobaker Ismail, authorized under the leadership of Oliver Tambo and Joe Slovo, with the knowledge and approval of Nelson Mandela. The Church Street bombing murdered both black and white people, and far more civilians than police or military.

I remember, slightly, before mandela was freed (i was 5) and i loved the man he was a hero and not in that politician way were they think by saying they admire mandela for the votes. I was a wee boy my dad told me how shit apartheid was and one day i saw my hero not only freed but a few years later watched his country win the rugby world cup. You are free Nelson Mandela and you always will be.
Great song.
Nelson Mandela was a TERRORIST, only wanted to see who sang this song so I can rework it for #FREETOMMYROBINSON

Or the knife crime epidemic in London right now! Never forget them! They should be all remembered by everyone! Please never forget
Why make a song about a terrorist?
Because unlike other terrorists/freedom fighters (depends on whose side you are on) his caused happened to match the growing trend against racism and segregation. P.J O'Rorke put it well when he wrote the USA, Australia and others are racist too, South Africa is just up front and honest about it.
How can you take a speck of sawdust from your brother's eye, when all the time there's a great plank in your own?
@Matt McGuire your metaphors literally don't make any sense.
@Jack Dean It is paraphrased from the Bible. It refers to hypocrites. How dare a person condemn another for doing wrong when the person is guilty of far worse?
The trend was to condemn South Africa for being racist when other countries were just as bad or worse. Hypocrisy in action.
They turned a blind eye to Nelson being a terrorist, as supporting an anti racist made them look good. It diverted attention from their shortcomings.
So yes, Nelson was a terrorist but because he was on "our side" he was a freedom fighter.
Is that clearer?
Anyone else here from Geraldine McQueen / Peter Kay lol 😔😳
Lol he IS A TERRORIST
I still remember ...
Free Winnie Mandela.
We saw this in citizens of citizenship 😂💕❤️😏😭🥰
Wow.. they made a song about him dying but he was still alive and actually died in 2013 that’s sooo weird R.I.P Nelson
"Ooga booga, I'm a dumb bl*ck."
-Nelson Mandela
Having the intuity to f*ck around with such a serious/poignant song alone is a bold move in itself!..

my guy nelson we miss him
He's free from the constraints of humanity now.
Back when pop stars actually we'rent afraid to be political and speak out!
Margaret Thatcher had the cheek to call him a terrorist
What an amazing guy. Nelson Mandela, Gave devotion to his people and the world. One day his dream will come reality.

Okay, I’m pretty late but in school we listened to this in English as we are learning about Nelson Mandela. Everyone was surprised by this music and we were learning about how apartheid and stuff like that and it surprised everyone that they treated black people like that. If I was alive back then, I would’ve taken part in trying to stop apartheid but I wasn’t. My nana was and she told me about the newspaper that was written. She also showed me pictures about this. Obviously, this is very wrong. At least Nelson got freed in the end but RIP, you will always be remember!
‘It always seems impossible until it’s done’ -Nelson Mandela
whos waching in 2019
Nelson Mandela did a lot for the country as for now the place is totaly corrupt and the black people he supported to start a new life has not happened Black people have not moved on one bit and the country is unsafe insecure i remember in Apartheid days 80 % of Black people were fed and didnt have to worry where there food came from !! I rest my case!!
love this song sooooo much
Epic tune

Are we so blind as to only find a bunch of white boys to be the band? Really, couldn't they find some native Africans to jam in a funky groove?
