Sparks - My Baby's Taking Me Home Lyrics
Home, my baby's taking me home
My baby's taking me home
My baby's taking me home
My baby's taking me home
My baby's taking me home
As we walk through the morning rain
And the skies are clearing
And the streets are glistening
Streets named for New England trees
A rainbow forms
But we're both colorblind
But we can hear what others can't hear
We can hear the sound of a chorus singing
Home, my baby's taking me home
My baby's taking me home
My baby's taking me home
My baby's taking me home

Anybody watching in 2020? New decade!
Anybody here from Tubafrog? Anybody?
I could spend all day watching Sparks videos
Miskipärast istuvad need vennad. 👉😏👂⛅🌠💫🏀👈
SPARKS... always endearing. ❤👍
This puts me into the same kind of trance that Captain Beefheart and Miles Davis does.
Tremendous
This track is 'structured' brilliance....!!!!!!
I recently just found this and i cant get it out of my head. You have to be a great band to make a song with one line so amazing
The best! 🤩
29 people have no baby to take them home. Shame!!
Бом, бом, бом...
Where's my baby taking me? . . . . Hypnotic. . ..
Sucks that there isn't a higher quality version of this video.
Still amazing and I have been loving them since college in the 70s! Live on and rock on forep Sparks!
Clever track, the use of delay and the sound textures..taking you on that journey. is great build up track. would be awesome live. These guys should of been super stars.
You can watch a live performance of this song on "Sparks live in Stockholm 2004" It's the DVD Lil' Beethoven Live in Stockholm.
dcee73 made it available to all of us on YT, both a cut from the concert with this song AND the whole concert, part 1 and 2. Part 1 is Lil' Beethoven, part 2 "Sparks sings Sparks".
I recommend EVERYONE to listen to those videos!!! Absolutely awesome.
(The song 'Ride 'em cowboy, ride 'em' is 💖💔💖😢😍🥰, sorry, I just couldn't find words..)
Love this song! ❤️
I'm a huge fan. Look up MY work......
Didn't quite catch the title of this tune.
I think it's called "Ethel The Aardvark Goes Quantity Surveying"
Cool song - great band.
Where can I find the lyrics to this song?
can i get a "10 hour" version?
can i also get the lyrics?
Why Lil' Beethoven isn't heralded alongside Night At The Opera, Sgt. Peppers, DSotM, Who's Next, Zep 4 etc etc etc is a total mystery to me. Absolutely one of the Greatest albums ever made. And the bravest.
Only Sparks could make a song like this work...one of the most brilliant and most underrated bands of all time!
So underestimated. Creativity beyond belief.
Brilliant
Builds & builds & builds... hey crescendo
WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!
It actually came out in 2002 but ok
such a simple song...but it's so amazing!
Except from it's not simple at all. All these little variations in rhythm and tones... Just enough to keep the ear interested without doing a bombastic drama, only subtile changes. That's not simple, that's genius!
Don't take me wrong, we're on the same side here, this is amazing!
If there where a Nobel Prize in Music the Mael brothers had earned it! And also had the decency to come to Stockholm to receive it. Despite the option they give in "Upstairs";
"When you want the intellect
You cue the right side and collect
The Nobel Prize in person
Or have someone mail it to you" 😂
The latter seems like somebody else thought was good manners. (Well, that person did come to Stockholm and received both diploma and medal over four months after the ceremony, and actually sent his recorded speach to the Swedish Academy in time.
A Swedish saying goes "Late will the sinner awaken". From the Bible, I think.)
great band
I have been a fan ever since my dad owned your first album in 1980. Wonder girl was my jam.
I sit alone, watch this video again, listen again, and do pretty much the exact same thing I did while hearing Propaganda the first few times back in 1976. I shake my head and think 'this is too fuckin weird for reality.' Nowadays...I can be more erudite and incisive. But why? Since... always... Ron & Russel have carried "weird" like king's garments. They are normal...for them. This is genuine. So what if they are not from Earth--they've adopted most our habits. And given us their vision of tunage..... . 1--You won't ever be bored. Ever. 2--They make you chuckle sometimes. They were well trained on their home-world, wherever the hell that was.
YOU ARE SO RIGHT! 😁 💖
♫ Old, this video looks dated and old, this video looks dated and old, this video looks..... ♫
Wonderful song and video!
Please Sparks, could we have a better quality upload ? This fabulous video deserves it!
1:56 +!
Sparks are gods
'Pop' music shouldn't sound like this. Awesome stuff!!
A work of genius.
Beautiful
Wish there was a piano tutorial for this.
This is so weird and compelling! I can't believe I only just discovered Sparks a few weeks ago . . . I wonder what other weird music has been lurking around, just waiting to be discovered?
Try Cardiacs ;-)
Try les incompetents
Are you familiar with DEVO?
Sounds like the theme for a schizophrenic eldritch abomination somewhere between the folds of a musty area in spacetime.
I love it.
consistently the most intelligent group ever. and they can still produce such material as this after all their contemporaries have given up. my admiration is unbounded.
i completely agree with you ! the sparks and serge gainsbourg
Pure Genius!
In its´ simplicity, absolutely a fabulous song.
The only text in the song, other than a spoken interlude, is the sentence; "My baby´s Taking Me home" is repeated more than 100 times throughout the song, only with slight variations in tune.
I don't know why this affects me so much. It's the same words like 100 times but it's just got this epic, almost apocalyptic quality to it. It's like what I want to hear if the world blows up. Bravo, Sparks.
Austin Nebbia because that's called artistry..... American music is really great there such amazing American bands like( SPARKS, THE BYRDS, THE STOOGES, THE STROKES, PAVEMENT, DEFTONES, TUNE YARDS ALICE IN CHAINS) and many may more but unfortunately these amazing bands are overshadowed by Talentless singers like KATTY PERRY, GAGA AND OTHER SHIT I DO NOT WANT TO MENTION
This is the perfect observation. Bravo, Austin! :)
@Wowee Zowee , to be sure, the two you mentioned Katy Perry and Lady Gaga actually ARE talented. Lady Gaga, especially.
However, I do agree with you that there are a lot of talentless singers.
Absolutely hypnotizing. Love it.
Lyrics?
a simple google search would have given you these effortlessly:
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads
All my memories gathered 'round her
Miner's lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine
Teardrops in my eye
don't mention it
My baby's taking me home
@Dm3qXY, That guy went home in a plane crash... Late nineties, if I remember that right. 🤔
(John Denver)
Totally brilliant
Brilliant I love this song and video. I want it played at my funeral, because she is waiting for me.
Its one of the songs I sing at work. They think I wrote all of my songs. They think I am the worst songwriter.
Love this song!!!
Amazing song too clever for a lot of idiots
superb. Thanx foe doing so much fine entertaining music
Just amazing.
I'm one of those guys who thinks too much into things, and since the first time I've heard this song I've been wondering it's meaning. But, like I said, might just be silliness.
I believe that it's about a man whose lover died and who is now about to die himself, so he feels comforted by the idea that she is coming to collect him and take him ' home'.
Or so simple, it's a guy who is so loaded after a night at the bar, so he needs a little bit help by a loving hand to make it home 😉
With these guys you never know! 🤣
The song is great anyway 💖
Came to think of "I married a Martian", an abduction maybe? But on the other hand, "There's no such things as aliens"!
@Stephen Bagshaw, but your interpretation is much more romantic! I like that better ❤️
This is GARBAGE!
posmodernism
Why ya here than?
Mr Bluntforce
You must mean that in a good way!
Someone please do a synthesia tutorial on this!
I looooooooove this song, wow
Well he did marry a Martian! ;)
👍 🤣🤣🤣 So true!
But he wasn't so happy about that.
Eight people's babies aren't taking them home.
Its too bad there isn't a LOVE button on facebook
Lmao there is now
Or on YouTube. 😂
I LOVE YOU, I love your manifestations, you are so far away, but what you do is not invisible It affects me, the people.
I'd have this played at my funeral, assuming my true love had died first. If that makes any sense.
what is it with you and Graves? ;-)
Ce sont des génies, des vrais créateurs, great great ! !
Sublime
I wish YT had an "endless replay" button.
strange normally id find the same lyric being repeated over and over all the way through a song would be annoying but this sounds gorgeous
I feel that the video and the words can be interpreted russ says something quite profound
Pure genius...!
Plain and simple.... brilliant, amazing, true talent.
Rare these days.
I like the intro. :)
u guys need to produce something with more than a few different words. It must contain an emotion/story or something. For me it is too little :(
The story in this is up to your own imagenation! I can give you a little to build on; he is loaded and his baby helps him home, he is about to die and believes his already dead beloved one is coming for him, his ex-girlfriend (or partner) that he still loves has asked him to come back.... Or, it's just nonsense 🤣
This video is not strange. Not trippy at all. Perfectly normal. I LOVE IT.
The theme song of Suburbia
I kinda wish this song was three hours long...
Oddly enough, this off-kilter cartoon heartbreak wound up reminding me of Patti Smith's 'Distant Fingers', which I then had to play a comparable number of times and post on Facebook. No, I'm not taking anything, truly. Home's just always out of reach. ;-)
Beautiful video!
