The main part sounds like a marching band but the middle parts of the song are the real song for me, contextualizing the rest of it. One of my favorite glam songs. But what’s with Russel’s prison punk funsie onesie?

I watched this at the time! This is what made me fall in love with Sparks. I rushed out and bought the first LP I could find which happened to be Propaganda which is still probably my favorite LP of all time.

At 0:35, Russell screws up a line from Milton, which is why Ron's expressions are so droll! But the show must go on, and this is a really wonderful performance of a wonderful song.

@Zal Moxis Well, it's not the LP recording, but I think it was also common in the '70s to make a recording for the TV show in advance of the performance, so you are likely right.

@Joe Blow Bands at that time would often go into the TV studios and quickly knock up a version to pretend to play over that night..... sometimes leaving the vocals and guitars live (not in this case)... plus this clip has invisible string players....  and nothing is plugged in or miked....

I am in total agreement with you!!! I am convinced they timed travel from 1984 that's why their music seemed so out of place in 1975 a band that was truly ahead of their time, they were so refreshing to listen too compared to all the crap music that was around back then. great stuff !!
