Sparklehorse - Eyepennies Lyrics
I will return here one day
And dig up my bones from the clay
I buried nails and strings and hair
And that old tooth I believe was a bear's
It burned me down to the wires
Blood suckers hide beneath my bed
And black fumes of skin so gently bled
I slept with a cat on my breast
Slowing my heart stealing my breath
At sunrise the monkeys will fly
And leave me with pennies in my eyes
And dig up my bones from the clay
I buried nails and string and hair
And that old tooth I believe was a bear's
At sunrise the monkeys will fly
And leave me with pennies in my eyes

Who is the woman on the bass?
Wtf i didnt know Daril could sing
Wtf i didnt know Daril knows sing
This shit is the most beautiful thing that I have ever heard.
Te arrepentirás tanto de la desicion que tomaste, que no podrás volver a oír está canción en un buen rato
All sparklehorse is beautiful
i miss you Mark Linkous
I did so much opiates to this guy's music... after being sober for a number of years now (aside from the suboxone), it's always kinda odd to go back to it (and indie-rock in general really)... but I'd rather die than withhold music such as Mark's...
fucking beyond incredible this guy... him and bands like Tortoise have been the biggest inspirations of mine, in terms of playing multiple instruments... I can never understand playing one instrument.
Always a sad hole in the heart when thinking of Linkous' departure...
That last sentence I can relate to quite a bit. Listening to his music, and later on watching his interviews made me feel like he and I were alike in a lot of ways. However, he had this genius about him that made him burn so bright through his music. I'm both sad that we won't get to see what he could've accomplished in his natural lifetime and happy that we got to receive ANY of what was floating around in that head of his. So, just like so much of his music, he's a bittersweet thought for me. Nowadays I feel a lot of nostalgia listening to him and that only adds to it. If there's one conclusion I've come to thinking about his legacy, it's that I hope that one day I can create something as enduring and intricately beautiful as his music before I leave this world.
R.I.P. Mark and Teresa.
This is one of the first songs I learned to play and sing on the guitar . I would say that was about 11 years ago
Esta rola me hace llorar siempre :C
the best!
damn, it blows to pieces
I'm in love with both this song and the bass player. Neither can be helped.
this song fucks me up
how much smack is the drummer on?
curtisskate not much if he can play the drums to any degree.
The beginning sounds like alone by dinosaur Jr
just been listening to medicine head wonder if sparkle horse were influence d by them
does anyone know what keyboard is being used here?
Joe Whyte probably a fairly basic Yamaha. maybe possibly something like a korg kross
RIP Mark
I bet the drummer is REALLY into yoga
Lol. I think his exaggerated movements are largely because it’s so hard to play in time at such a slow tempo
When u wanna get done, done on the ground
sparklehorse
Mark Linkous was a beautiful soul and a brilliant artist. Gone far too soon,
I've literally played this song about 10 times in a row now...consecutively... & I've heard this song many times before...just doesn't get old
One of the most amazing things I've ever heard or seen
@theladieschains2 well, I appreciate the compliment but I am happily taken & I live in beautiful Washington.
u r so sex

2:15 -2:50 ... So much yes!!! <3 ... Blood suckers hide beneath my bed
And black fumes of skin so gently bled
I slept with a cat on my breast
Slowing my heart, stealing my breath... <3 My favorite part...gives me the chills in a very soothing way...the whole song does but particularly that Part... & this performance... <3 hope Mark is happy where he is

@TylerTaylor whatever you say, uncle Sam
I've watched this video at various times throughout the years and it only gets better each time.
7 thumbs down really what the fuck!? This song and performance is awesome!
Bellissima!!!
wonderful !
powerful !
what is that alternative mic he sings into?
+lokotron1 Just one set up slightly differently, isn't it? For the bits that sound a bit like a megaphone.
i believe its a easily saturated mic
Probably a bullet harmonica mic
if I'm not mistaken it's a microphone he found in a landfill or dumpster.
Hummm Mark is fucked up? Now I understand why he's been fucking me hard for so long...
I love this song ... But they are the most fucked band I ve seen in a while
Oh, ...well, fuck...that sucks :/ ... & yea, that is no reason to call the band "fucked" . That's just tasteless & disrespectful! Thank you for letting me know btw...sucks, ...but thank you
I love the music!
+Tom Wilson he had a heroin addiction
@Tom Wilson my parents were good friends of his, so they were pretty much with him through the whole thing. but yeah he was on and off heroin for a while as well as addicted to the pain killers the hospital gives him because of his legs
@Tom Wilson haha idk that might be too much lol
Like the way your mind works Jay.

Mark semoga hang tenang di sana.. RIP
i got the same guitar strap as Mark. R.I.P
Looks like the drummer is more than okay to me. I love seeing people get lost in the music.
i concur. PS. u rock too
Is the drummer okay?
Yes, that's a drummer that's deeply feeling the music ... That is all ... I find it lovely...
i just saw your post, 3 years later, i hope he is....
Difficult to listen to it now.... But just beautiful.
I miss their music so much
One of the most amazing and important songs in the history of rock and fucking roll ladies and gentlemen.
Sad part is, I don't know if he really knew how good he was.
so deep so beutifull
intimate.
it's hard to feel all that sad listenin to this song
that drummer is ridiculous :P
Yeah, its so utterly ridiculous that he is obviously very into the song and lost in his performance to the point where I doubt he cares how ridiculous you think he looks....
I like that adorable thing he does with his mouth ^.^ He was such a GREAT song writer. It blows my mind!
Indeed. It's a shame he already left us....
I remember when I first heard super excited and I looked him up and found him a week after he died. It was super disappointing but it made his songs that much more meaningful to me.
@That Dude With a Mad Plan The same here with me but I could know one of the best bands ever.
Foda demais... Brasil sil sil
So beautiful. We miss you.
This drummer is at the wrong gig
amazing song...the bassist is so beautiful!
he's playing the song. what's up with you?
sweet..why do they need to leave so goddamn soon??
so fucking great. mark i thank you so much.
Amo esta canción, cuanto tiempo paso desde la última vez q la escuché!!
i can't believe this man is dead.
Just enjoing, like thousands people here.
RIP Mark
one of my favorites of all time
Depressing HELL
Mark
we are all waiting for you return
TheOuryouth| Mark will forever be missed, one of the greatest rock artists of all time
R.I.P Mark, that bullet didn't just penetrate your heart, it shot us all
back when I lived in richmond i went to hear some bands at a stage in a parking lot near plan 9. i heard weird noises, someone fooling around with instruments on stage, feedback and hum, who's screwing around up there I wondered, then a couple more people up there and I guess what they were playing was a song, no clear leader, vocals staticy and indecipherable. they didn't play long and quit. i wondered when sparklehorse would play but it was them
Perfection
Did Mark and Polly ever do this song live together - I doubt it since it was so hard for him to get her to lend her vocal. This version is a little heavy and misses Harvey's distinctive cutting voice. Still nice song.
I miss you, Mark.
A hug, wherever you are.
Beautiful song!
@JCBigCat Honestly, I see Sparklehorse as an awesome band, but not something that is universally liked. Mark Linkous' voice is amazing, but more of an acquired taste, if you can understand.
pretty good
just not long enough
Its eerie how perfect this is..
"very pat, very pat on head, good boy"
Beautiful.
Mark Linkous...
Saw them in a church in North london .Very special band .Lucky enough to talk to mark after the show .Really down to earth man .After the show was lucky enough to be sitting nest to him as he came out to sit in the crowd. We told him the band was really good but he asked me [i was the old guy in the group] why i i was there and liked the music .in retrospect it was great tell him why i was there with my wife daughter and her friend..I said i had been a long time admira of Neil Young He said ok
r i p Mark
RIP you great artist!
@SloppySkateboarder Getting close to it too mate. Saw him twice live… When the best chooses to go away, there's not much left for the rest of us…
I'm going to cry.
Godspeed.
Mark i hope you return here one day : )
An artist in every way... Thank you for your beautiful gift
Who was that fuck who have disliked this?
One of the most hauntingly beautiful songs ever. RIP MARK.. Your soul lives on through your music, Thank you for that. xo
mothbits| As he said "I will return here
one day, and dig up my bones from the clay"
this song instantly brings tears to my eyes, i can't even explain it. rest in peace,
Mark, you beautiful soul.
A one off .............
pure simple heartfelt beauty
GREAT GREAT GREAT.....
I had these song in my soul, before it even existed.
RIP... ASS
CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP !
I wish Mark could see how much he was loved. I would do anything for Mark to be back with us. This man was clearly sad, but he was and still is an inspiration to many people. Mark's beautiful poetry and slow riffs will live on, at least to me, because he is more than every other music "artist". Mark had deep meaningful words and he needed to be heard. We miss you, Mark.. RIP.
@ReignDearTV
I was lucky enough to tell him. I shook his hand as I did so. Doesn't help though - just makes me want to tell people and I feel even sadder as a result.
if you have ears, you like sparklehorse.
period.
