I agree! both versions of this song are absolute masterpieces of production and the song itself is so raw in the way he states his message so bluntly. The way he crossfades the lofi radio sounding mix with the full studio mixed one is absolutely incredible as you mentioned!

I dunno if I've ever considered this my favorite song before now, but in all this time I don't think there's been another song as fundamentally good to me as this one. It's the epitome of Sparklehorse's work. The lyrics, the sound shifts, the melody both solemn and upbeat. Maybe music just never gave me what other mediums have, but this song is good on a core level that I don't get from others.

Among many other things, mark's guitar in the second part always floors me. Always great when someone can convey powerful emotion as well as virtuosity in their playing.

The first time I heard this song I was in the backseat of a car, drunk and high, in the middle of nowhere Nebraska. I was on tour with my band and the host band was driving us around in the backwoods. I thought the intro was the radio station going in and out, it was not until a few months later when I found out who this was. I was blown away that it was actually the song! Pure. Fucking. Genius. Made a point to see him live a few times after that. RIP.

inspiration...thats the one word i can give for sparklehorse. im into stuff like the ramones,sex pistols and bands like that. but sparklehorse just blew my mind wide open. when i learned he died i cryed for afue minutes. this band is quickly becoming my favorite. R.I.P
