Is Hong Kong different now than what it was like in that video? The video was made in 1984, and an agreement that year to hand back the city (under British control then) to China in 1997 was made. This handover was achieved.

It was all fab up until about '85. The pop scene was simply raining scrummy English boys with great hair. These chaps looked gorgeous and amazing from '80 to '84. The mullet popped into existence in '85, just in time to ruin LiveAid. So many beautiful boys, suddenly brought low by stupid hair. I grieved. And not quietly. I usually just watch the videos up through the True album, but I decided to branch out a bit. Now I remember why I don't cross the '85 barrier.

I like this video very much. The music in 80's was even better than now the young singers in the world and Hong Kong. The video was filmed very energetic and colourful. Hong Kong people in those days were less with grumble, I really missed the heyday at that time Hong Kong economy was robust and with harmony. Ironically, Hong Kong is an international city but ridiculously Government proposed to add simplified Chinese in primary school, because the sovereignty is different now. Hong Kong is not the province like Shenzhen or Guangzhou, Hong Kong is Hong Kong and forever!

The more the HKSAR government(post 1997) claim it, the less quality of "international city" that H.K. pocess... Take a look at the cashiers of super-markets, 7-Eleven & even on the streets... how many people can speak reasonably fluent English...? I always found Martin the LEAST attractive. For me it was always Tony, Steve, John, Gary (just because of his abs in that rolling stone pic with his jeans halfway down his hips) and Martin wasn't even on the list.
