I've yet to hear a version of this song that I can't appreciate, from David Bowie's to Johnny Mathis's to Nina Simone's to Esperanza's. If you've seen the movie, you might be inclined to agree with me that Esperanza's captures Gioia's passionate nature perfectly. And, in certain circumstances, this is the version I'd most want to be listening to...if you know what I mean. That said, David Bowie's is the one I absolutely love...if you know what I mean again. And if you know what I mean, find me already!!!

I don't know what the hell this is but its not the David Bowie version I grew up listening to.    It's a completely different tune.    For starters the musicianship on this is RIDICULOUSNESS OMGoodness.   Its great but this shit is like Coltrane meets Bowie.   While I love the Bowie version, I'mma have to download this and go to school to get my learn on.

Not to be a jerk but simply to inform this is not a David Bowie song. It is actually originally done by Johny Mathis. My favorite version is done by Nina Simone who actually inspired David Bowie to sing it. His version was losely based on Nina's versions for she has many.

@lilaclyrik Thank you for the correction, I went and listened to Johnny's and Nina's rendition. My favorite version is still Bowie's. Maybe its because I'm a huge fan of Bowie's late sixties through late 80's music. Somehow I can relate to his version better.   While researching the song, I see that it was written for a movie called "Wild is the Wind" in 1957 sung by Mathis. I do like Nina's version better than Johnny's as his is too overproduced for me. I probably just thought David wrote it as he wrote the majority of his music. Thanks so much for educating me on this wonderful songs origins. Cheers

@Caramel Spice I totally did and it is also a fantastic version. How wonderful is it that there are so many version of a song and it can transcend styles and just be expressed in original and beautiful ways.

We're lucky enough to have seen her perform live three times, and they are all extremely memorable experiences.  She doesn't just play and sing, she makes a show of it.  She's that rare quadruple phenom - wonderful compositions, virtuosic playing, a voice like an angel, plus she's so easy on the eyes.  This lady is tops in my book.

My two year old granddaughter can barely sit still for any given waking moment, but she sits entranced and motionless when I play Esperanza's "Little Fly" video.  She is hypnotized!
