Soundgarden - Uncovered Lyrics

Small creature are you
Small creature you are
How quickly you are uncovered
Naked and cold
Mumbling and crying
Knowing everything's been discovered

Many secrets have you
Many secrets you have
But it's only a matter of time
Did you finally decide
There's nowhere to hide
And really no reason why

Hey Mr. Shame
Have you got a name
I don't feel like calling you Buddy
I don't want to hear your story
I don't want to hear why
And I even don't care if you're sorry

Many secrets have you
Many secrets you have
But it's only a matter of time
Did you finally decide
There's nowhere to hide
And really no reason why

Strong is your body
Strong are your bones
Strong as your bloody lie
is uncovered

Small creature are you
Small creature you are
How quickly you are uncovered
Naked and cold
Mumbling and crying
Knowing everything's been discovered

    Mola!💯👌

  2. Stoned Meadow Of Doom

Easily one of the best on the album. Goosebumps every listen.

  3. Michael McCluskey

These guys opened for Danzig on the Lucifuge tour for this album. I saw the show at Mississippi Nights in St. Louis. Corrosion of Conformity came out before Soundgarden. Monumental show all around, and my first taste of Seattle grunge.

  4. archisaurus

    GodAlmightyJesus what a fuckin song

  5. Bol Saq

    underrated as hell

  6. MrTommy4000

    First. Playlist without a complaint.

  7. John Hamler

THIS happens to be Soundgarden's bestest song. Period. Hands All Over and GUN and Outshined are good as fuck, but... Matt Cameron is a genius.

Phenomenal song. Love that winding riff.

  10. Adelia Hogarth

    Timeless.

  11. Viiner

Anyone have clearest idea what pedals are used here to get the sound on guitars ?

  12. Eddie McMaster

I remember I was at the volcano in Seattle having coffee best damn cup I ever had

  13. Todd DeMoss

Let it go....why couldn't you Chris. I don't understand pharmaceutical drugs and cannot pass judgment, but fuck dude what happened? I just hope it was an accident...life kinda sucks having to get old and die but you had kids man...i know your voice wasn't the same but we have great recordings that will never die...i have been listening to them every time i have the opportunity lately. I forgive you for the pain you caused your family and hope they are okay now. Your birthday and Father's day must've sucked. For guys like us who do not have your voice, etc.., it's hard to understand. Just wow, still trying to sort out the feelings and thank you for everything. I keep finding nuggets of songs that make me melancholy and stimulated at the same time...i will never forget & let it go for now, sir. Rock on, everyone, he was the best.

I said your wife is at the Crisis Center in Seattle Cameron. I love you A hole. Come get me. The fukin Sound Garden Fairie. This Is BS dude. Fuku.

  17. Tang526

My favorite song. RIP Chris Cornell

    John Hamler

I'm glad to have "uncovered" another TRUE fan. This song is the balls. In a good way, that is.

    William Hill

I like Big Dumb Sex off this album. That song rocks

  18. Zentrika Los Cristianos

    RIP the greatest Chris Cornell.

  19. Katabat

RIP. Favourite band and singer for around eight of my most formative years. Irreplaceable.

  20. XxxthehunterxxX hawk

Is it me or can you guys hear a lil doom metal in here or what?

    M.L. Crow

I do but there's no surprise. Listen to SG songs Toy Box, Kristi, Cold Bitch for example.

    Lucas Santos

@M.L. Crow don't forget Mailman... That one is pretty heavy too.

    M.L. Crow

Lucas Santos Yeah, it's true and there are even more...it's just the (very doom influenced) songs I've listed are not really well known SG songs (in general), not included in any studio album....such awesome songs and some of my favorite SG songs.

    Jimmy Olden

SG is definetely influenced by doom metal bands, you can see the members wearing Saint Vitus shirts

  21. Bryan Mcfadden

    it's Heart

  22. blasterkid

    1 person has been uncovered.

    :)

  23. tpvalley

I used to say on my bed on lsd as a 15 year old and listen to this album..... that's 25 years ago!

    Jack

    What was it like?

  24. CHERYL FULTON

Amazing vocalist....Perfect lyrics.....Song never pulls together

    The Niggiest

    What do you want?

  25. critical of onions

Love the riff around 1:20. Sounds like hittin open strings followed by some strange harmonic progression

    Russ Wilson

    +PorkSodaBassist
In The Light does this using the same basic principles. Pedal tones juxtaposed with an alternate harmony note that changes the key thru inversion.

  26. DeadlyRamon

It flagrantly borrows from Heart's "Love Alive," but I'm sure the Wilson sisters approve!

    critical of onions

Just listened to it. Really similar main riff but different style in song. Both are really awesome!

  27. Matjaž Ploj

Yes, Hunter Kemp!!! Must agree!!!  :D

  28. cuzzinmiko

    strong as your bones

  29. dzigerica666

it sounds incredible but it seems this song is in EADGBe

    Hambone Jones

Yeah what an absolutely outlandish tuning for a piece of music to be written in.

    Fresh Tendrils

    What kind of uses that

  30. Zap Rowsdower

This is one of those songs that will magically appear in your head out of nowhere, even if you haven't listened to it in a long time.
Then you'll NEED to hear it.

    Lucas Klepa

    just happened to me!

    Daniel Vasconcelos

    9/12/18

    Jack

    It just happened!

    Highway Star

    Lol too true!

    Battle Pug

Yep just happened to me 08/12/19

  31. psyclops9

got this from columbia records 12 cds for a penny or some nonsense like that

  32. AuntieCmoney

oh and the progressive rock thing

  33. AuntieCmoney

I think the thing that groups all these bands together is that you can hear the same influences in all their music. The band members are my age and we grew up listening to early metal (Sabbath, Zep), punk, psychedelic, and a lot of blues influenced stuff...

  34. Tony Gleason

So true. This is what makes Grunge so damn good.

  35. Tony Gleason

    Better in my opinion

  36. Tony Gleason

    Thumbs up!

  37. worthlessburger7

I think Nirvana is singled out b/c they had Cobain & he pretty much changed rock music, even though Soundgarden formed in '84 & their first recorded songs were on a comp album called Deep Six (the only band our of the Big 4 of the Grunge Era to have any on there). It does bother me that Nirvana's singled out b/c the other 3 were just as good as Nirvana.

  38. jussara bernardo

    foda.. alá Black Sabbath

  39. jussara bernardo

    clássico.

  40. BareBandSubscription

I think they're all different. I don't know why Nirvana is singled out all the time. Pearl Jam sounds nothing like AiC, who sounds nothing like Soundgarden. Yeah, AiC and Soundgarden are both heavy, but their styles, direction, and just overall moods are completely different. You'd be hard-pressed to find two "grunge" bands that actually sound like they belong in the same genre. Soundgarden, Nirvana, etc. started off similarly, but progressed in their own ways, as did other bands.

  41. John Hamler

I, for one, understand. I don't care for Nirvana myself. To me Nirvana were as foreign to Seattle grunge as San Diego grunge is from Seattle. If you know what I mean. If you've ever actually been in a band you know that such discernments don't concern you. :You just wanna rock. Or roll. Or whatever the fuck.

  42. BareBandSubscription

    Not really.

  43. Sean Lynch

Its my senior year in HS and just got my copy off ebay last week. Pumps me up for hockey

  44. Germain Ferrer

    indeed

  45. Manjoaco

In spanish we call it Hiperbaton, No idea how you gringos call it.

  46. GodzillaThrillaKilla

    how ironic...

  47. ditimely

Man, this song brings me back to my senior year in high school. I wore this CD out. Used to listen to it to get pumped up before surfing. It is still relevant to this day.

  48. luizihoster

One of my FavSongs from this guys!!!

  49. João Silveira

First song I learned on the guitar \m/

  50. HEXACO

    This will stay Uncovered forevermore...

  51. Taylor Paradis

Probably the coolest vinyl I own right here.

  52. mtman97

    100th like!

  53. hollowpointandwhisky

@merkin51. He's (KingSalad1969) right. I still have the shirt he's talking about. Maximum Breakage tour 90 on front, and Louder than Fuck on the back. I've seen the one you're talking about as well.

  54. 2471mike

    awesome tune

  55. saltjunkie77

@andreisgreat1 LMAO. Good points. I think it would go stale for at least the reason that it's already come and gone, and has influenced so much that it would seem done. It's akin to watching Animal House, but after the 80's...that is, it's good but seems so cliche to those that don't realize it was in fact the prototype.

  56. Logan Brown

@sicfuker25 AiC Soundgarden Pearl Jam and STP no one can replace Kurt plus everyones busy :P

  57. Dina9000

"your everything been discovered" "many secrets have you many secrets you" have" Love this song!

  58. Andre P

@sicfuker25 bringing nirvana back is like opening a perfectly sealed bag of cheetos from the 90's it would be cool at first but then it would just go so wrong and the awesomeness would be gone.... and people of the 21st century dont diserve it, not with all the crap we've put in its place

  59. merkin51

@kingsalad1969 pretty sure it said "Louder Than Meat", Mike McCready wore one during PJs Pinkpop 92 show. Unless you bought a different version?

  60. Headbanger's Castle

they should make a big 4 grunge tour, like the big 4 of thrash, and with nirvana they should get another singer just like alice in chains did

  61. beelzabubba

@hotlanta35 I saw SG open for Danzig as well... AXIS in Boston.... SG blew Danzig off the stage... and I like Danzig ok.

  62. beelzabubba

Thanks for putting the album cuts up here TehSponge01. I have the album but it's always nice to see it posted on YT for quick access.....

  63. hotlanta35

yeah i saw soundgarden open for Danzig here in Atlanta back in 89 or 90 when i was in highschool, they rocked and the crowd was definatly into it too, back then Atlanta had a awesome and diverse music scene totally opposite of todays lack thereof

  64. Kyle Kraatz

@kingsalad1969 Thats pretty disrespectful, I like Danzig as much as the next guy, but Soundgarden is also one of the best and deserves some respect.

  65. Kyle Kraatz

@kingsalad1969 What did the Danzig fans do?

  66. ruebuscm

Blah blah Justin Bieber sucks blah blah Lady Gaga shitty blah blah Soundgarden rules

Do I get a thumbs up now?

  67. Keith Vandy

"Louder than Love" was their breakout CD. I bought it in 1989(?) after reading Axl Rose commenting in the Rolling Stone that they were one of his favorite upcoming bands. I totally agreed with Axl, and I still love Soundgarden!

  68. hendoballs

I wonder if they ever did this live? Would love to hear that one!
