The mighty Soundgarden are masters of slow, heavy, sludge and they fucking killed it here. It's an amazing cover that's been kicking my ass for 25yrs; it'll never sound dated. God I love this band. And I love that they covered a DEVO song--super cool.

i kinda wonder how this would have sounded had nirvana covered it, i'm not saying this cover is terrible but their cover of Turnaround is a prime example of a cover that is better than the original, i wouldn't say this is better or worse than the original but i'd say it's about equal

I'm a major Soundgarden fan, so I want to like this cover, but I'm also a pretty big DEVO fan and I really liked their use of detuned, almost off-key synthesizers and electronic noise, and this song was a good example. To me, this feels like a straight guitar-only cover, and so it loses a lot of the original song's texture without gaining anything. I will say that Cornell sings it really well, though.

Nirvana covering it would be more interesting, because Cobain knew how to use noise perhaps a bit better than Thayil ever did. Turnaround is better than the original, 100%.

This is one of the best covers ever! They took the song and made it their own and successfully retained the spirit of the original. Gotta love these guys!

I rode here on a pentaquark hadron. And I say this is great tribute to one of the world's most innovative bands. DEVO transcends criticism. In fact criticising DEVO is one of the key indicators for the absence of a frontal lobe.

I love this song! It's got a funky creepy groove lol. Chris Cornell's voice is a sorta "creep" to it like Radiohead. Not that he's creepy, but he is dark and creepy and I love him for it :D

Wow Soundgarden are Devo fans. Never would have guessed. It reminds me of when I found out Scott weiland is a huge Nirvana and Radiohead fan. It's always cool when my rock heroes give a shout out to their musical inspirations. Love this cover a lot.

Kent Sezen Being a DEVO fan, I can not see the craze over the residents. They can barely play their instruments! I did enjoy their jailhouse rock cover though.

Prefer if Chris Cornell would have taken a less droney feel...than it would really rock! Say, a high-octane Audioslave take? I too really like the Devo riff better

Cornell's vocals are great here, but with the dirge they lost the most distinct part of the song: the guitar riff. I love Soundgarden, but this cover is simply inferior to Devo's original.

Give Soundgarden props. It can't be easy to lay down a lazy-sounding cover of Girl U Want. Very difficult to get this vibe actually. Even SG couldn't hold back in the refrain.

@MrTrty5 check out the KROQ Devotees album. KROQ held a contest soliciting DEVO covers from listeners, and they put the best ten on an album. Some of them are extremely reworked; Jocko Homo as a circus anthem, and played on a touch-tone phone are my two favourites.
