Soundgarden - Come Together Lyrics

Here come old flat top
He come grooving up slowly
He got joo-joo eyeballs
He one holy roller
He got hair down to his knee
Got to be a joker
He just do what he please

He wear no shoeshine
He got toe jam football
He got monkey finger
He shoot Coca Cola
He say, "I know you, you know me
One thing I can tell you is
You got to be free"
Come together, right now
Over me

He bad production
He got walrus gumboot
He got Ono sideboard
He one spinal cracker
He got feet down below his knees
Hold you in his armchair
You can feel his disease
Come together, right now
Over me

He roller coaster
He got early warning
He got muddy water
He one Mojo filter
He say, "One and one and one is three"
Got to be good looking
Because he's so hard to see
Come together right now
Over me

Come together, yeah
Come together, yeah
Come together, yeah
Come together, yeah
Come together, yeah
Come together, yeah
Come together, yeah
Come together, yeah
Come together, yeah

This gives me chills. I love it. Rest In Peace, Chris

I think my favorite covers of this song are definitely the Godsmack version and this version

I think that Soundgarden did the vocals and the chorus better. I really like the rhythm change in the chorus sections, it sounds way cooler than any other version I’ve heard! And Chris Cornell is just better than whoever the dude from Godsmack is.

I think that Godsmack nailed the main riff and the verse sections, I love the feel of the accented chord they use in the verse sections (which I think is the Hendrix chord from purple haze but correct me if I’m wrong.) I also think that the way Soundgarden did the main riff just sounds a little bit thin to me, I like that Godsmack kept the thicker, lower feel of the riff.

And I think both bands could have done the solo better honestly, the Godsmack version is just the exact same one the Beatles did, but with distortion and the Soundgarden version just doesn’t sound right to me (and I usually love their lead parts) Someone should just combine the best of both covers and then it’d be the ultimate cover of this song!

  5. C.... S....

Such a talented man ...You are missed Chris!

  6. Z.... P....

How in the fuck did I not know this existed?!?! What a gem. Makes me sad they arent still giving their music to the universe

  7. B.... C....

Shits all over the Beatles version

  8. S.... A....

Jason Everman from Nirvana play this song here!!

  9. S.... Q....

I typically dislike covers, especially when they stick so much to the original's vibe (cause seriously whats the point of doing a cover if your just gonna suck off the success and style of the original) BUT this is so Soundgarden, so CHRIS, that I find its MUCH better than any other cover.

But I still think the original is best.

  10. T.... B....

Danny Kim Thayli looks JUST LIKE Kshama Sawant

  11. m.... t....

    magnifique

  12. M.... 1....

    MJ did this song better.

  13. V.... ....

    p.... t....

    The Godsmack version sucks ass

    p.... t....

    joseph taylor Godsmack fucking sucks

    p.... t....

Me too...i found out about Soundgarden's version from listening to Godsmack's cover.

    p.... t....

Mr.Pastorius Godsmack = Discount Alice In Chains

  19. o.... ....

Worst Beatles cover, ever. Sounds like soundgarden has never heard a Beatles song, and can not read music.

    o.... ....

SHIT man, you gonna and have caught some shit for this comment. came to the wrong place pal....

    o.... ....

The best covers are covers that are altered to fit the sound of the band/artist... For example Knockin on Heavens door by Guns n Roses or All Along the Watch Tower by the Jimi Hendrix Experience both of which were originally Bob Dylan songs or Nirvana's cover by The Man Who Sold the World which was originally a David Bowie song... Those are considered to be some of the best rock covers of all time and sound very little like the original because the bands put there own spin onto it

    o.... ....

The original is one of the most overrated Beatle hits. This cover actually rocks hard.

    o.... ....

They disagree with my opinion, therefore they're just bitching and being defensive. Thay's a real compelling assertion.

    o.... ....

    Hahaha "read music"
    What a tool!

  20. J.... I....

I think this cover is overrated, and I love Soundgarden. But that's just me.

  21. L.... B....

One of the better covers I will ever hear.  If not the best.  It's the best cover I've ever heard and will ever hear.

    L.... B....

Personally I still lean towards the version by Aerosmith

    L.... B....

The Aerosmith version is damn near a note-for-note cover where I don't consider this a cover as much as I do a rendition.

    L.... B....

    WELL THAT ESCALATED QUICKLY.

  22. F.... A....

    Brilian Cover

  23. K.... L....

    Na boa velho.

  24. J.... L....

    Very astute observation Karin.

  25. M.... S....

You cant use simplicity or any other form of music "wrong" because there is no right way

  26. M.... S....

Dont be so arogant as to relate being a musician solely with technical skill at playing music, because more so then that, its the music that counts, and Kurt was excellent at creating great music that really resonated with people. You dont have to like it, and you can call it bad if thats what you beleive, but it would be, in a universal and un-bias sense, untrue to say he himself was a terrible or bad musician.

    M.... S....

You mean Cobain? Yeah, it;s easy to say he was a bad musician because he was in fact a bad musician.

    M.... S....

I don't think his voice was that good however he put so much emotion in his voice it made up for it... That's why he's one of the greats.

  27. A.... ....

Covers of Beatles songs usually make me cringe if not done right but this is so "soundgarden" that is sounds cool.

  28. M.... d....

would fuck to this song any day

  29. E.... K....

ouch my ears are bleeding from this disgrace

    E.... K....

Your opinion is a disgrace. This is familiar enough that it pays a great homage to the Beatles original while at the same time it's different and off the wall enough that Kim Thayil and Soundgarden gets to keep their very unique identity. Just because you're a moron doesn't mean that it's a disgrace.

  30. b.... ....

Disagree, but it is certainly worthy of it's own credit.

  31. G.... C....

This is without a doubt the best fucking version of this song!

  32. C.... K....

This isn't a Nirvana song... or The Doors... it's a Beatles song covered by Soundgarden... where did Kurt or Jim come into play here?

    C.... K....

Cory Krebs who said this was a Nirvana song? They need to get back handed I would understand Aerosmith because they did an amazing cover of this song but Nirvana?

  33. R.... ....

This song is fuckin awesome oh my god Chris needs to do more of this shit

  34. S.... ....

But on one hand I think you have to give it to Grohl that he's had more time to refine his skill. Don't get me wrong - I love the guy and all his projects, I just mean to say I'm curious what Cobain would sound like if he'd stuck around and kept playing over the years.

    S.... ....

I'm gonna tell you right now what would've happened. Remember Elvis? By the time Elvis died, he was already a joke of himself. The same thing would've happened to Kurt Cobain. The timing of the death of Kurt was the best thing that could've happened to the name of Nirvana. If Andrew Wood lived, Nirvana wouldn't have become as big as they became. If Kurt would've lived than Nirvana would've eventually fizzled out.

  35. d.... ....

    Best Beatles cover ever !

    d.... ....

darwleg Nah Aerosmith's cover of Come Together is probably my favorite this is a close second though

  36. G.... S....

I get high better while doing drugs. The experience of Soundgarden's psychedelic touch is great !

  37. T.... F....

    Fuckin love this xDD

  38. T.... F....

See this is where I have a hard time explaining (If you haven't noticed). It is a"broken" sound, not a bad one. Maybe this is a faulty analogy, but it is like the raw sound that a guitar can make. It is raw, not polished.

Don't mistake me, polish is great, but sometimes the original grit of a voice is better than one polished over and over again. To me it makes Nirvana sound more personal. Sometimes sounds like that can hit home with me, and sometimes they can't. Kurt's did though.

  39. T.... F....

Dave is the nicest guy in rock to, that's the biggest thing. I don't know, Kurt's voice was broken, but that's what made it good. It totally and utterly defied hairbands and glam, fleshed out real problem, not just partying and euphamising vice. And I just like their sound more than you, lol.

  40. T.... F....

I think I'm going to avoid a flame war and agree to disagree with you there lol. Maybe its because it is his music that got me interested in pursuing the grunge scene, but Nirvana are one of my top favorites below SG. I think we may be able to agree Dave Grohl is awesome though right?

  41. T.... F....

It can be better in my opinion. Forgive me for saying I "think". I definitely "think" that Kurt's voice was great, and fit his songs perfectly.

  42. F.... P....

Just put the word "bajar" before youtube, and then enter. That´s It.

  43. T.... F....

SO much better than the original. Beatles are good musicians, but Soundgarden took it to a whole new level.

  44. I.... V....

@liljoerox why dont you download it from here...

  45. b.... ....

Best cover of a song. Goddamn it's so good

  52. O.... O....

  53. P.... D....

Wow this is a GREAT cover

  54. O.... Y....
