Soundgarden - A Thousand Days Before Lyrics

Life a thousand days ago
Hours sinking in a hole
Try to melt into the walls
Now I am here inside the bowl

Here in the cold
Where no one stands behind me

Now a thousand days have gone again
Like the sun and moon at war
And give or take a thousand more

Here in the cold
Where no one stands behind me
I'll be on my own side
You know where to find me
You know where to find me

Here in the cold
Where no one stands beside me
I'll be on my own side
You know where to find me
You know where to find me

Born with a thousand little holes
And a tear to fill up every one
A thousand to ignore
I'll be on my own side
I'll be on my own side

Bridge and outro which start from 3:03 probably are one of the most goose-bumping sonic moments for the entire 2010's decade in rock!

    Lyrics

    Life,
    A thousand days ago
    Hours,
    Sinking in a hole
    Try,
    To melt into the walls
    Now,
I am here inside the bowl

    Here in the cold
    Where no one stands
    Behind me

    Now,
    A thousand days have gone
    Again,
Like the sun and moon at war
    And,
Give or take a thousand more

    Here in the cold
    Where no one stayed
    Behind me
I’ll be on my own side
You know where to find me
You know where to find me

    Here in the cold
    Where no one stayed
    Beside me
I’ll be on my own side
You know where to find me
You know where to find me

    Born with a
    Thousand nail holes
    And a tear to
    Fill up every one
    A thousand to ignore
    Hey
I’ll be on my own side...
I’ll be on my own side...
I’ll be on my own side!
    Hey!

  15. Gabriel Medeiros

Quem é brasileiro sabe que essa música é um baião psicodélico... e dos bons!

  16. Metal Doc

Just listen to this great song over n over again for almost an hour. Bye Chris.

  18. German Cundino

Su voz no era de este mundo, como la sostiene ,su registro es propiamente de otra galaxia, gracias por hacer que cada día pueda ser feliz Chiris.

  19. Mr. Timebomb Man

This is one of my favorites from them. This album as a whole is fantastic Imo.

  20. ploperator

    sounds like https://youtu.be/iudtv6ZhYBU?t=482

  21. Mike Pruitt

Love the overtones of Kims heritage! Worked well!

  22. Mike Pruitt

Chris's voice ALWAYS gives me the damn Chills when he lets his pipes loose...RIP brother, you will live on..

  23. Miloš Rais

i have suicidial tendiencies while listening to this track in my car and driving as fast as possible and feeling absolutely free of any matter

  24. Mike Pruitt

Best song since A Thousand Years Wide....(being funny)...

  25. Andrei Mars

Fantastic song, one of my favorite....... Chris, .......why?.....

    blinddog1212

So agree on both counts. I still ask myself that very question. A man truly in darkness but a beautiful soul who left a lot of light behind him.

  26. Ray Sidhu

i thought this was one of the best songs on the album

  27. Ryan Mitchell

There is Nickelback in the recommended

    Duncan Carlyle

Yep. All the proof you need that some people just don't get it.

    Joey Witt

    That's just you.

  28. EZH

Even after a 20 year hiatus, when they came back, they were still one of the best bands out there. Fuck...RIP Chris AKA GOD

  29. Andy Trullinger

This entire record is fantastic from start to finish. No surprise. Best band of my generation.

    Саша Тришкин

Andy Trullinger best band of your generation is NIRVANA. Of all, time, probably. But Soundgarden and Stone Temple Pilots are two other greatest bands of that time, it's true. Pearl Jam is such a crap/

    sean Costello

Саша Тришкин haha Soundgarden started grunge they started in 84 nirvana is overrated...Cornell was Alan a better singer than Cobain and Dave grohl combined

    sean Costello

Саша Тришкин and led Zeppelin is the greatest band ever even Chris cornell said it

    M.L. Crow

sean Costello The word "grunge" didn't exist in 1984 and it was just "marketing". Imagine if the word grunge had never existed. Do you can really put (for example) Soundgarden and Pearl Jam in the same (sub)genre? I can't.

  30. john esquivel

Great song I love the transgressions with the notes and the chords plus the drums and bass are perfectly played ... Great......

  31. john esquivel

Great song I love the transgressions with the notes and the chords plus the drums and bass are perfectly played ... Great......

  32. Jackie Hurley

Sound Garden Fairie. Hey, why did you gibbons break up in 1997? Little fairies ask questions sometimes.

  33. Billy Hughes

This song slays me -- the lyrics and music are perfectly matched. Takes my mind to a place that's hard to describe.

    Mr. Timebomb Man

Same here. One of their best performances especially from Chris. Has all the classic elements they're known for like odd time signatures and non-garden variety chords at times which I think made them stand out from the pack in the 90's. Excellent musicians indeed.

  34. Evan Davidson

    incredible song

  35. Diecast 45

    RIP CHRIS =(

  36. Jack Frost

    RIP Brother

  37. enorbet2

I'd comment on how great they still are but given the devastating news I'm afraid I "Fell On Black Days"

  38. Matt Rose

    R.I.P CHRIS!!!

  39. MrCorby123

    Forever in our hearts ...
    R.I.P. Chris Cornell

    Rawsawn

    RIP indeed =/

    Leandro Bargas

Yes, I just agree with you, forever in our hearts, Chris Cornell Forever, just will never die for us, the fans.

    grimlyfiendish

Their sound was so wonderful. Not just Chris's soaring vocals, but the edge and loudness. They knew music.. soft. Loud . Booming .

  40. Vic Kirkpatrick

This song kicks ass. Amazing writing and melody.

  41. Raph_audrey poiré

    man!!!!! soundgarden is magic

  42. Emmanuel Sousa - Audiolivros

Porra, é um baião msm??? Que merda ein.

    guilherme barbosa

Emmanuel Sousa Essa música é uma ótima fusão de gêneros musicais, adorei a influência cultural brasileira presente aqui, isso é meio raro de se ver

    RudJohns' gaming channel

    Por que merda?

  43. sonic jet

SOUNDGARDEN KING ANIMAL SOUNDS SO SPIRITUAL

  44. Paul Woodring

  46. Eduardo

I don't usually listen to Soundgarden, but this song is amazing

  47. Sunkeerth Tummala

Why are there two versions of this song? At 3:07 there is a difference between this version and the one on Spotify.

    Jeremy Mullins

    it skipped...

  48. Mike Stanislaus

Not their best album but this is an absolutely beautiful track. Love the Indian influence.

    Jamie Craighead

In the deluxe version of the album, Kim himself says he thinks of it as an Eastern sound. Either way, I love that guitar riff in the chorus.

    Notalent

Do you always want an album to be better than the one before? Sry, but i don't think thats possible :P

    all the same! iProductions

I recall drummer Matt stating it were their best record. But let’s be honest, groundbreaking Badmotorfinger couldn’t possibly be topped.

    beggersbanquet 5150

@all the same! iProductions got got that right bro. They said superunknown was their breakthrough album badmotorfinger was the s*** change my life

    all the same! iProductions

beggersbanquet 5150 actually I like DOTU the most.

  49. Tom Vitale

Skips ahead somewhere around 3:07 or so...I don't understand why do that. But still, this is an awesome song.

  50. Michael Shultz

Saw them last night in Atlanta, they played this song, it was awesome.

    Stuart Hesselden

    Love this album..

  51. Kimberly Simpson

I am staying by myself and If I stay alone by myself I will be happy to walk my road alone. Been married 25 years. I like being by myself. Yea, with Jesus above me.

  52. Ben Wherlock

I own this album (King Animal) and it is VERY good :). This is my favourite track.
