I can't believe this is grouped up with bands like Pearl Jam. This is outright heavy metal, "grunge" is a fake term.

Most of early soundgarden was closer to straight up sludge/doom than grunge.

@rkr402 "Grunge" doesn't have a distinct sound. I understand using at as a collective term to refer to a group of Seattle alternative bands from the early 90's that overshadowed 80's rock, but it doesn't have a unique style or anything like that. How can people designate Nirvana, a punky alternative rock band, with Alice in Chains, who clearly is heavy/alt metal, in the same genre? They're nothing alike. Aside from being angsty I suppose.
