Soul Coughing - 16 Horses Lyrics

I like this song but always felt it was somewhat out of place for the X Files soundtrack. I mean it kind of has a science fiction lyrical theme and sound effects. But why choose this one when the 'Monster Man' song, which made it onto El Oso, was much more obviously appropriate? They should've been switched, or this one should've become a b side. It seems sloppily thrown together and too short too. 'Unmarked Helicoptors' from Songs In The Key of X was a much better song and more thematically appropriate. The lyrics in '16 Horses' are a bit too abstract and meaningless.

i so wish this was on el oso, or atleast a extra track on the japanese edition.

I can't think of a contemporary artist who is comparable to Doughty.

Awesome tune; great soundtrack!

Doughty's singing/wordplay always reminded me of 50's beat poetry. The acoustic bass brings this feeling home. Then we have incredible drumming on what sounds like differently tuned snares. And this guy quoting everyone from The Andrews Sisters to King Crimson on the sampler, also playing simple chord progressions on piano/synth. You're right, WeMust, they defy comparison.
