Sonic Syndicate - Perfect Alibi Lyrics

Are you listening?
Are you really there?
I'm open to suggestions
Do you even care?
Because within I die the more and more we lie
Hope seems to grow outside our reality of life
There's a fragile part of me that needs some help to heal
Hold a candlelight for me and don't let it go out

WHISPERING THOSE WORDS YOU LIKE
WE'RE LYING HERE SIDE BY SIDE
SECRETS DON'T STAY SECRET FOR LONG
WE'LL WRITE THE PERFECT ALIBI
AND TELL THEM ALL HOW WE TRIED
BUT IN THE END THEY'LL FIND OUT ANYWAY
SO LET'S MAKE AN HONEST MISTAKE

Tell me do you ever admit to it being more than just a dream
Let's keep it a memory keep it locked behind the silver screen
I know its wrong but its all feeling kind of right
Something big is changing its in the air tonight
There's a fragile part of me that needs some help to heal
Hold a candlelight for me and don't let it go out

WHISPERING THOSE WORDS YOU LIKE
WE'RE LYING HERE SIDE BY SIDE
SECRETS DON'T STAY SECRET FOR LONG
WE'LL WRITE THE PERFECT ALIBI
AND TELL THEM ALL HOW WE TRIED
BUT IN THE END THEY'LL FIND OUT ANYWAY
SO LET'S MAKE AN HONEST MISTAKE

We've all made some honest mistakes
Even you, the road that lead me here
For you, the one who it clear
For you I've been struck down
And built back up pound by pound
For you I would if I could
But there's nothing left to do except keep...
(Secrets don't stay secret for long)

WHISPERING THOSE WORDS YOU LIKE
WE'RE LYING HERE SIDE BY SIDE
SECRETS DON'T STAY SECRET FOR LONG
WE'LL WRITE THE PERFECT ALIBI
AND TELL THEM ALL HOW WE TRIED
BUT IN THE END THEY'LL FIND OUT ANYWAY
SO LET'S MAKE AN HONEST MISTAKE

Are you listening?
Are you really there?

But again, I think that at the end of the day, it usually comes down to each individual band, of how much Hardcore they have in their sound compared to how much Metal they have in their soun.

Andyes, Anaal Nathrakh are awesome. :D

Indeed, many Core bands have Melodeath in their style. Sonic Syndicate themselves, or other bands like dEMOTIONAL and the last album by Marionette are a perfect examples of Metalcore bands with heavy influence of Melodeath.

Trancecore can be so much. It can be everything from purel Hardcore, like Enter Shikari and I See Stars, to a bit more in the Metal-direction, like Blood Stain Child.

I assume the same goes for Grindcore, but I honestly don't listen to Grindcore very much. :P

I just hope that they either
A: Return to the old Sonic Syndicate sound.
    or
B: Start from scratch with an entirely new bandname and re-frelease We Rule The Night under that name and keep releasing material under that name.

Either way, we will achieve 3 things: More awesome music, the name Sonic Syndicate is not shamed any further, and the old fans will leave them in peace about the new sound (since they will be an entirely new band).

    Everyone wins.

I did read that blog some time ago. Can't change what happened but I won't deny I still enjoy this album from time to time, even the old records. Richard may have had his problems with the band but its not what I'm concerned about. He has a new band now. Since this band is on hiatus now, I'm not gonna say anything further. they might be making a new record soon since they recently headlined a tour so I won't say anything negative till I hear the new sound. Maybe its not too much a drastic change

Well like I said, it's a matter of how much each individual band has of the two genres in their music. Some Deathcore bands, like say, The Browning and Emmure, have way more Hardcore in their sound, and are therefore to be concidered to be primarily a Hardcore band in essence.

Where as then you have bands like Born of Osiris, Rings of Saturn and Between the Buried and Me, who has way more Metal in their sound than Hardcore, and should therefore be classified primarily as Metal-bands.

I have no problem with this album when taken on its own. If it had been released by a different band, I would've loved it.

But this album doesn't stand alone. It was released by the same band that released Eden Fire, Only Inhuman and Love And Other Disasters.
And that's where the problem lies...

And yes, they WERE selling out. If you go read Richard's (the screamer/lyricist) blog, he explains some of the things and how they went down behind the scenes...

I love a variety of music as well, and I guess that is why I have no problem with this sound and album. I highly doubt they're trying to be sell-outs here, they're just trying to bring in a different flavor to their music and I see no harm in that. It's not always the case. If they're trying to gain new fans, why not try something a little bit new at first, THEN go back to your old sounds. I think that was what they were trying to do. True, it may not always work, but give them props for trying.

Actually, it can be both. It can be either Hardcore or Metal, depending on how much each band has of the respective genres in their music.

And in the case of BMTH, they have more Hardcore in them than Metal, which makes them a Hardcore band, and not a Metal-band.

  9. M.... T....

Wrong! I don't want that to be the case all the time. I love this song, and I have a wide variety of tastes in music.

HOWEVER, I also appreciate artistic integrity, and it is obviously abscent in this album. This album is nothing more than a shallow appeal to the mainstreem teenage audiences. And that's just not right. Especially not for a Metal-band.
And when your favorite band abandons all their integrity for mainstream success, it's just something that I won't stand for.

True its not a bad thing that they try to introduce something new, but that is not always better. Fans love the band because of the unique style, and then the band changes it to something like this. I have nothing against this kind of song, Nickelback is like this, along with most of the rock bands out there. Sonic Syndicate is a metal band and was great with growling and screaming, plus it had great melodies, and this style set it apart from the rest.

    @catlitta
    You're right!.

  12. S.... M....

geez you people, all you guys want are growling and screaming in every single song. If a metal band produce a softer tune you guys complain. Can't you accept something a little different rather than the same constant style of music in every album? If the band themselves can accept these changes and want to go a different direction with their music, why can't the fans? I love a variety of music styles. This song is amazing.

  13. s.... ....

Metal genre labels are for people too fucking stupid to figure out that its all the same shit. Its Metal, this song is everything Metal is not on the other hand.

  14. T.... M....

@TheZeke131 Eden Fire was just Rich, thing is all the fanboys that are complaining don't even know about Eden fire they just bum Roland..

  15. S.... ....

  17. T.... ....

He should participate in x-factor. Even then he wouldn't make it through the first round.

  18. O.... ....

sonic syndicate is a metal band and sonic syndicate is one of my favrit band

  19. R.... ....

@1Minute2fate you are saying this is metal?

  20. p.... ....

@LegendaryMotives That's true but have u checked out the other bonus tracks¿? What the hell? They are great!!, at least better than this!

  21. T.... ....

I dont really get how they are thinking in SS. It's not like any music with growling in it will be accepted by the mainstream population. So in that case they must kick out Richard, who is the founder of the band. It seems like they want to expand their style to reach new groups but this is just something in between metal and pop. Result will be: Core fans will leave. And I doubt the mainstreamers will appreciate their music.

  22. A.... ....

    They're not even metal anymore...

  23. X.... ....
