Soilwork - This Momentary Bliss Lyrics

My eyes are bleeding
They’ve searched
For someone else
Addicted to the hunt
And end up somewhere else
Where the expendable souls go
There must be more to this
I’m right in here
Staring through
A glass wall
I tell you this my friend
We must be bigger
Than momentary bliss

Don’t let the light you see
Restrain you
Don’t put your trust
In the dark outside
There will be more
Than you ever could die for
This Momentary Bliss is a lie

Cause my eyes they are bleeding

I’m off to treasure
A brand new emotion
I’m taking off
Like a demon of fate
I reckon something
Will see my devotion
For I may be the one to get closer

Closer to what lies beneath
I’m gazing right into
A well of redemption

Don’t let the light you see
Restrain you
Don’t put your trust
In the dark outside
There will be more
Than you ever could die for
This Momentary Bliss is a lie

Don’t let the light you see
Restrain you
Don’t put your trust
In the dark outside
There will be more
Than you ever could die for
This Momentary Bliss is a lie

The enemy is what you feel
Believe my words
The enemy is what you feel
And see it’s real

Don’t let the light you see
Restrain you
Don’t put your trust
In the dark outside
There will be more
Than you ever could die for
This Momentary Bliss is a lie

Cause my eyes they are bleeding

  10. David Skinner

had a couple "momentary bliss" experiences today. made me want to listen to this awesome song

  11. Agape Forefront

The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
    (Mat 6:22-23)

  12. emil bulls1

    epic!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  13. Nikola Lalev

Wonderful music when you are sleepy! Love the energy!

  14. Matthew Powers

I hear both Heafy and HoJo in Bjorn's voice in this song and it's so fucking brilliant to me because I find both singers to be so far apart in style, but Bjorn is so versatile he can switch on the fly and still be himself..

  15. Matthew Powers

I am partial to all of Soilwork's albums and find them to be a fleshed-out band due to all of the different routes they have taken. I'd be insulted if they didn't give Bjorn some space to sing and set ups for brilliantly catchy hooks because he has such an amazing voice. There is so much talent to be heard in Soikwork, they're great at being melodic, atmospheric, moody, emotional and brutal, often within the same song. They have several different moods. Furthermore, bands like Trivium and Killswitch Engage are comparable due to their focus on melody and blend of death metal-influenced aggression. Guarantee they'd admit Soilwork are an influence on them, because they have already. Trying to be competitive with music taste is silly...just appreciate that this band exists and is making such great music as this song.

    DragonBlast71

    Late comment but, PREACH!

  16. Aleksha McLoughlin

BEEN A FAN FOR SO MANY YEARS! Seeing them tonight!

    Tl2004ever

    How was it?

    Aleksha McLoughlin

@Tl2004ever They were fantastic. I was near the front rocking a Ride Majestic shirt. They played a lot of newer stuff from Ride and Living Infinite which was amazing but had time for songs from Stabbing the Drama and older stuff. Blew me away.

  17. ChargeRhino

    legendary song

  18. Gustavo Costa

My second best album ever written

  19. Gregor Olson

when killswitch engage came out i was like "i have soilwork for this and they do it better" this is proof of that

  20. Sd Ny

This was the album that got me back into Soilwork. First album I had was Steelbath Suicide. Then Natural born Chao's was my favorite. I loved figure # 5 but it was more hooks & Chorus based songs. I liked it cause it was cool with the keyboard & style. Then I thought Stabbing the drama & the panic broadcast had that same figure 5 feel. This brought me back to the heavy prog Metal I became a fan in the 1st place for. Plus the production is amazing. Hard to keep a fans attention on a double album. This is the perfect double album.

  21. Roemer80 Hurahagl

those Guitarhooks are unbelievable Eary^^ Cheers

  22. OnlyLiveMusicRocks

    Wonderful!

  23. Joe Smith

Last time I listened to soilwork was the chain heart machine. What happened? Did they fall backwards onto a dick?

    Ninten The Metalhead

Joe Smith No, Strid's vocal range increased and the music is pretty much as good as it was back in that day. They also had some lineup changes.

  24. newblife

    SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOIIIIIIILWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  27. CovenantKeeper

Everything about this song makes my heart pound, especially that kickass intro.

  29. therebelbrain

Welcome the fuck back indeed you guys! this is a true piece of art! cheers from Syria \m/

    S. Roquentin

Cheers from Germany, mate :) Feels great to be back into this.

  30. Patrik Blom

Now this is real.. Wish Opeth and In Flames could stick closer to their "true" sound aswell.

  31. Daniel Gone Guitar

I have listened to this song hundreds of times. It doesn't get old one bit

    foolproofman

+allxtar music For it it is the very deep texts that are filled with REAL philosophy and meaning full of self discovery and self mastery that make me listen to their songs over and over and over and over ........
A true way to true enlightenment/God/Force/The Truth is through these very things (self mastery and self discovery) - though its just the beggining :-)

    Nikola Grgić

Me too man, cant stop listening :P
    Just briliant :)

    Facey Neck

I just heard it for the first time a couple nights ago. The chorus is one of the catchiest things I've ever heard. By that I mean; it gets stuck in your head. Been listening to SoilWork for almost 20 years now. Don't know how this one passed me up.

  32. borek921

Kinda reminds me of In Flames, especially the Dead Alone song.

    cj397

    @uncjjb24
    What are you hinting at

    Cvlt Xld

In Flames and Soilwork started making music around the same time in the same place. Both started in the early 90's in Gothenburg. They went the same direction with their music although Björn from Soilwork seems to keep more screams than clean singing in their newer songs, while Anders seems to be more into clean singing nowadays.

    borek921

@culturali st Indeed, Anders can still scream, he showed that well in "When the World Explodes" but for some reason he prefers clean vocals. Don't mind it though, I really like most of Siren Charms' tracks even if they're crazy soft when compared to older stuff.

    Cvlt Xld

I used to be troubled by the direction they chose, but I'm finally getting into their newer stuff which is really exciting!

    Ninten The Metalhead

culturali st Soilwork actually started in the mid 90s in Helsingborg. They're not a Gothenburg band.

  33. TheCamdenBros

    awesome song:)

  34. Lemmy Koopa

Intro sounds like something off A Predator's Portrait, verses sound like something off Natural Born Chaos, Vocals from the previous few albums and vocals I haven't heard be this aggressive since Stabbing The Drama, and some screams sound as heavy and saturated as his screams back on Chainheart Machine. Also haven't heard the vocoder effect since Rejection Role from Figure Number Five and Demon In Veins from Steelbath Suicide

This song is a complete melting pot of their career, I like it.

    killallsuvivors

Actually the intro sounds pretty much recycled from the angel diabolique of steelbath suicide or my ears are fucked from blasting soilwork all night

  35. The Sun Burns Bright

comparing Trivium to Soilwork is hilarious. Soilwork being the more talented band.

    Glaivey

Trivium is fake metal, just like Evanescence and that fake ass goth music they play

    SerratedAMG

Why are you band-rival, comment-baiting NPCs listening to the most non-NPC music ever made? Get out of here.

    Elijah Taylor

I hate goth but like metal

    Caleb Berry

It’s funny these guys probably like each others music, you are all retarded

    Trexpelia Helvetios

YOU GUYS EVER HEARD OF SHOGUN, TRIVIUM MASTERPIECE ALBUM ?

I don't care about you, but Matt really really praised soilwork (and the whole swedish melodeath scene, even borrow soilwork riffs as inspiration.

  36. kevinerickson84

Fuck, i love stabbing the drama... Great album!!

  37. SaturnineXTS

Guys, I have no fucking idea what's wrong with y'all. How can you be saying that Stabbing the Drama was their best album, also citing FNF as your favorite. These are their least inspired, most radio friendly, toned down and un-metal albums. Listen to some fucking Chainheart Machine before spouting such filth, will ya.

    tfwcu09

I agree, even though I don't hate Stabbing the Drama as much as some people because it actually was pretty catchy, I think Figure Number Five and Sworn to a Great Divide are much worse. I definitely think that The Panic Broadcast and The Living Infinite are light years better than those three albums and a good return to form for this band. A Predator's Portrait is my overall favorite album by this band.

    Lee Schofield

I agree, I can't even listen to Stabbing The Drama any more, it's really really bad.

  38. tinchi101486

    No way to thumbs down

  39. Chris Heck

I didn't know Howard Jones was in another band.

    William Laliberté

    Well... That's your opinion.

    Shizen Heimer

    Cmon guy

    Juliet

I would love to see him try to do half of what Bjorn does..

    Jordan Kurtis

Chris Heck that's fucking stupid to say considering Soilwork started years before Howard joined KSE

    Brandon Thom

Bjorn can do it all. Metal was blessed when he was born

  40. simonize251

Yes I like that one quite a bit myself. I have been disappointed with everything they have done since Witchers left. Stabbing was their last solid album IMO.

  41. Tiana

Figure Number Five is also pretty awesome imo.

  42. James Borkowski

Is it me or does the guitar hook in the beginning makes you feel like you're playing Megaman X3

  43. simonize251

Probably the best song on the whole album with a lot of filler songs IMO. Stabbing is still their absolute best almost every fucking song was amazing.

  44. Bearskin

This is totally my victory song ALL THE WAY

  45. Nurvez07

'Cause my eyes they are bleeediiing!

  46. Bor Pinterič

If I remember correctly he said something like "I want this played at my wedding". :)

  47. Tiby Jace

I'll never know what Michael Pische said....

  48. Bor Pinterič

That guy's account doesn't exist anymore, so I guess the comment(s) got deleted. :/

  49. Aleksandra Jagodzińska

    every time is good

  50. Stevie McFeely

when i hear this song i think of the last of us lol

    Phil Dent

Oh my God Me too ! ^^

  51. Jc Gooner

Soilwork, In Flames,At The Gates thank you for you're music...LONG LIVE SWEDISH METAL...\m/

  52. popik666

    Respect from Poland
Amazing band, normalnie rozpierdalaja i tak ma byc
    This music make me alive

  53. DocJ95

This song isn't very deathy, no. But a good bit of their recent work has great death roots. If you listen to the first song off of this album, it's pretty defining of melodic death

  54. Jerb2k12

First song I've properly listened to by these guys.
I should learn to listen to bands earlier!

  55. xDeSeaZed

i dont think this is death metal

  56. Reygle

Though the turnout at The Rave in Milwaukee disappointed the hell out of me earlier this year, the live show did not disappoint. They're amazing live.

  57. simonize251

I love Mind tricks!!!! "Perdition haze" is one of my all time favorite songs by them. Also "A ringside seat to human tragedy" featuring Christian Alvestam is another

    Dillon Wren

    That's Disarmonia Mundi, not Soilwork

  58. Psyrix

If anything, check out a song called Deviate From The Form, by Scar Symmetry. It's possibly the best example of Christian Alvestam's vocal range, and one of the reasons I'm still resentful about Scar Symmetry dropping him for those other two jokers.

  59. Psyrix

Just a little known tidbit, but Speed (from Soilwork) did the vocals on both Fragments of D-Generation and Mind Tricks, Disarmonia Mundi's (in my opinion) two best albums.

  60. angel almaguer

    AND END UP SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!!!

  61. skillzorz101

'Cause my eyes - they are bleeding!

  62. CrystalCifer

Give examples, please. You can keep spouting that there's oh so many bands that does this better, but without an example, or two. All you're doing is talking crap.

  63. CrystalCifer

He's close. But only close. I'll admit he's fantastic, but Strid is in a class of his own.

  64. Connor Stevens

This is my favorite album of theirs since A Predators Portrait

  65. powemetal4life

this lyrics are so fucking deep!!!!

  66. LTD-

    This song is sublime.

  67. Dave Shaddox

No it's not... The lyric book for the album says "a lie." "Alive" doesn't even really make sense within the context of the song.

  68. Bor Pinterič

Maybe, I wouldn't know that... but at least I'm not calling people idiots. ;)

  69. Daniel Gone Guitar

In the firts chorus you clearly hear it ends in ive. Second chorus sounds like "like , yes, it is true. Maybe they change it on the second chorus.

  70. Bor Pinterič

I heard, "a lie" and some online sources (darklyrics for example) say so too.
No need to be an ass though, even if I was wrong.

  71. Daniel Gone Guitar

    Is alive* deaf idiot.

  72. MrThedickman

It's called melodic death metal for a reason

  73. simonize251

I agree with you but you should check out some Scar Symmetry, Solution .45 and Disarmonia Mundi in case you haven't. The dude from the first two bands is I dare say a better vocalist than Strid.

  74. Connor Mortifier

nothing wrong with melody in metal. there is a reason they call this "melodic" death metal

  75. Mark E. Tuck

Just stop comparing and enjoy the music. Be thankful that there are people in this world that are willing to bear their soul through music and share their passion and skills with us all.............Metal4Life \m/

  76. Richard Coiner

This is just my 2 cents worth, but it seems like Soilwork is picking up where In Flames and Opeth left off. Both bands have turned a corner and sadly, its for the worse. I hear more of a melodic.... almost progressive metal style in Soilwork than ive heard in their previous albums, and honestly im open-minded to it and like this album. They certainly havent made a dramatic change like Opeth or In Flames.

  77. Aldoxisonfire

I jizz everytime the clean vocals arrive at 00:39 "and end up somewhere else" WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  78. lordvishnu

Haha good point, even though I still support this as a wedding song (I'd want it for mine, too!)

  79. Bor Pinterič

This momentary bliss is a lie?
    Really, at your wedding? >.<

  80. sebbimon

Im saying they have changed their original style, completely.

  81. klinger420

Let's be honest, Soilwork and In Flames have been kicking ass for years. no question about that. Each band has had somewhat of a slump, or a few poor cds put out. Soilwork is for sure the better band at this point in time. I was always more of an I.F. fan myself, until the last 2 1/2 cds. Saw Soilwork recently and they were awesome. In FLames has no original members of the band left and a huge part of the song writing is gone. It will never be the same In flames again unfortunatly

  82. arcanis211

So basically, you're saying In Flames should have made every album sound the same as the one before it? -_-

  83. sebbimon

In Flames went bad after Come Clarity. They should have kept that "In Flamesish" sound, but instead they make it more radio friendly.. Soilwork always kept it real! Compare Living Infinite and Sounds of a Playground.. not even comparable! Soilwork fucking murders it

  84. HundredthManBand

    pretty darn cool...

  85. kromanized

    Preach!

  86. Phantomias1988

You were only reffering to In Flames (Not other bands) plus you said that they are probably even better. That's what I replied to, so I actually didn't ignore anything. I don't care how good In Flames was back in the days... They suck these days, (That's only my opinion) so I don't see how they are on the same level as Soilwork atm. (You actually can't compare bands of different genres. For me, In Flames is not a melodic death metal band anymore)

  87. Mi Scusi

Everything dominates In Flames for 9 years now

  88. Josh Kelley

Nothing about Inflames is sold out!!! Inflames IS and will ALWAYS remain dominate over this group... But soilwork is still a great band, but has nothing on INFLAMES BABY!!!

  89. Kyle

Yep, amazing albulm!!! Love these guys!!!

  90. smol1995

I am once again reminded of the extremely high level of intelligence on the internett, thank you for reminding me...
And becomming softer doesn't actually have to be "anything with selling out", i think it's just artists experimenting (although none of us can know for certain unless we confront In Flames directly.)
But in the first place, this was about wether or not other bands were on the same level as Soilwork (wich you ofcourse ignored completely), and personaly i think they are. Accept it.

  91. J Mtz

I've never been into this band, I was also hesitant to listen to this after I've heard from many that it was great......I gotta admit, it's really fucking good ....bravo Soilwork

  92. Ben Urban

I'd say APP and and Natural Born Chaos are the top two, and The Living Infinite round out the top 3.

  93. Mark Loriente

Best Soilwork album. No Room For Discussion.

  94. Mark Loriente

I really like this song.....Dyers Eve was also the best song from AJFA

  95. fagocitoergosum

Ulver changed their style throughout their career. In Flames sold out. Learn the difference.
