Snider, Todd - Hill Country Rain Lyrics

Doo-doo-doo...

Sometimes I just wake up hummin'
Feelin' like the world is right
I want to jump right up and walk outside
Take in the morning light
I feel the music runnin' through me
It makes me want to dance
Clap my hands and dance

Sometimes it just takes my lady
To smile and make my day complete
When she's touching me
I'm feelin' free and easy to be me
Lucky to be alive
Walkin' outside
Feelin' alright

People they tell me
Say I'm livin' too fast
Slow down now, buddy
Take it easy let some of life pass
But I don't know no other way
I've got to live it day0to-day
And if I die before my time
When I leave
I'm leaving nothing behind
Lord knows I'm tastin' every single grape on the vine

I got a feeling
Somethin' that I can't explain
It's like dancin' naked
In that high hill country rain

Doo-doo-doo...

I ain't worried about tomorrow
I'll get by best I can
All I need is my will to live
It makes me laugh, wanna to sing and dance
And clap my hands
Clap my hands, yeah

Doo-doo-doo...

Oh I got a feeling
It's somethin' that I can't explain
It's like dancin' naked
In that high hill country rain
Oh I got a feeling
It's somethin' that I can't explain
It's like dancin' naked
In that high hill country rain

Doo-doo-doo...

Sometimes I just wake up hummin'
Feel like the world is right
Wanna jump right up and walk outside

  4. R.... N....

Concert at the Pearl Street Oyster Bar on Lavaca Avenue in Austin, 1973-4 with the unforgettable Ms. AK.

Jerry Jeff got plastered and ended the show by getting his foot stuck in the bass drum. Helluva show!

  5. 5.... ....

If you're having a crappy day at work, play this.   It's spiritual.

  6. z.... q....

Love watching Bob dance with his bass guitar !

  7. J.... O....

Saw him twice in Madison, WI. First time he nailed it - unbelieveable. Second time - the Gonzos took over, he was plastered and couldn't sing a whole song. The Yin & Yang of JJW.

    J.... O....

I saw him in Madison wonder if it was the same night. I saw him wandering around in the crowd and he took some chugs off some electric wine bottles being passed around. Tom Waits opened the show then JJW came on and could hardly stand. Nice that Waits was great and the Gonzos could really rock..!!

  8. M.... F....

Jerry Jeff is THE MAN! That said, there is no better guitar player than John Inmon!

  9. X.... ....

That would be Cosmic Bob Livingston on the bass, Freddie Krc on drums and John Inmon on guitar. Not sure who the keyboard player is. Jerry Jeff is back enjoying himself and playing great. Go see him if you get the chance!

    X.... ....

that's brian piper on keyboards, great guy & consummate ivory tickler; and lest we forget the everlovin' lubbock's own lloyd maines on raging pedal steel. all great friends.

"I'm tasting every single grape on the vine" My favorite line in all the world.

  20. w.... ....

    Come to Georgia Boy!!!!

  21. R.... ....

Man, I wish we had TNN back! But, of course, it would probably be overrun with the new FM radio "country" that most of us old Jerry Jeff followers hate!

  22. m.... ....

What an amazing song writer and entertainer, saw him once about the time this was shot. I never could figure out why he didn't do the whole Garth Brooks thing, he was great every time I saw him. Brooks and Dunn even wrote a song about Jerry Jeff Walker.

  23. b.... ....

gosh we would all go crazy when he played this. ahhhh we were all young back then...in the 70's ray wylie, BW, Augie M, Michael M, and Jimmie Buffet had not figured out that he was going to key west....

  24. t.... ....

I remember running down the aisle at the Paramount Theater to this tune & dancing around, while Jerry Jeff & the Lost Gonzos tore the place down

  25. u.... ....

    @knappydanny ~ That's funny.

  26. g.... ....

@blueskiesblue OH YES!! How I miss the old original TNN before the corporate wreckers destroyed it...."American Music Shop" and"Texas Connection" and the great original concert footage of Mary Chapin Carpenter and Jimmy Dale Gilmore and Shawn Colvin, along with the PBS show "Austin City Limits" were the only TV showcases for REAL country and Americana music...sadly missed. Austin City survives, but is now more about popularity, not about creative music.

    g.... ....

Jerry does everything right cause that's the way he rolls

  27. P.... R....

@ghostwiener1978 You're not suppsed do it in front of the williamson or travis county jail, it's a out in the sticks on your own property thang.

  28. H.... P....

Is he cool or what? Wish there was more of him ... don't we need a NEW prime time Country Misic show? Would sure beat 'reality' crapola! Toooo cute!

  29. c.... ....

Sure 'nough .. both Jerry Jeff, and Jimmy Buffett, are each once in a half-century phenomenon. Both are fantastic talents, representing as they do that wonderfully appealing 'feel' from their respective parts of the US that they call home. This song by JJW is one of his very best, in my humble opinion .. and a superb live performance of the song to match here .. just a sweet joy to listen to ... thanks BRod 313 !!

  30. A.... T....

Ditto Juiceman, you are correct... that's what contributes to their longevity. Love both, howver, Jerry Jeff is my all time fav.

  31. j.... ....

JJW is to Texas bar music what (his close buddy) Jimmy Buffett is to Parrottheads. Neither is the best vocalist nor best guitarist, however they connect with their audiences through gifted songwriting and providing a mood for their audience. Its a talent too rare in music today. It's also why each have lived on stage for over 40 years, can't argue wiuth that type of longevity and success.

  32. S.... ....

Man this guy has range problems and can't get to the mic quick enough...I am sure his recordings are much better than this....the music is real lively but you can tell he is out of his element, yet he looks like he's having fun and not bothered by his voice issues.....he must not have confidence problems. Good music....probably would have been fun to be in the audience.

    S.... ....

ScottyHale you're an idiot. And nice name asshat.
