I have just turned seventy,from Beatles and stones era,but smokie were wonderful with chris Norman.

I will be 59 in May and I have never heard this band before. Life just keeps getting better and better! Our generation turned the corner in the music scene and it still reverberates to this very day.

Well 30 years passed by, but I honestly admit, that I was a Smokie Fan .And I really did hate ABBA!:-) 30 years later I still love this song and I still hate ABBA!:-)

There was a rivality between Smokie Fans and Abba Fans to that time.:-)

+Caroline woodcock I must admit I was unaware of any rivalry between fans. However, Smokie and ABBA did run during the same period of years. ABBA came to prominence when they won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 and disappeared in the early 80's and Smokie had their first hit in 1975 and split around the same time as ABBA when Chris Norman went solo. I don't think the two bands were immediately thought of in the same breath in Britain during their heyday ... maybe in other European countries it was different. Funny thing is, ABBA were not so highly regarded back then as they are now.

+silksashbash :Yes of course they where publishing music at the same time.:-)And may be that Abba is nowadays still more popular.There is a whole f....... Musical of them. but they still can`t reach Smokie.:-)
