Smokey Robinson & The Miracles - My Love For You Lyrics

My love for you
It shall endure the storms of time
And you'll remember

My love for you

My love is true
But only time will tell it's not a dying ember
It'll burn on through
I'm hoping too
That maybe you
Will need an understanding shoulder you can cry on
You can rely on
When you're blue
In case you do
Find that you need a love to cling to for a lifetime
And what's my cue?
I'm telling you
Someday you'll know the hopes and dreams I've had my share of
You'll be aware of my love for you

My love for you
Will last forever
My love for you
Will end never
My love for you

This song is by *THE MIRACLES*. Not a "Smokey Solo" song.

    A great wedding song

His voice was pure velvet, and the Miracles were the perfect compliment to it; particularly, Claudette’s voice which was like a crown on the head of royalty! This song was like the theme song for young lover’s love.
I was around 10 when my brother used to play this album, and though I had no idea about what love was then, it made me feel something like finding out! 🥰. Sweet, Sweet, Sweeeeeet!

Whenever I hear this song it invokes thoughts of the unspoken quiet passion of a long, soft gentle kiss and the ummm moments that follow

Silky smooth, honey sweet, down right beautiful... You could never get tired of listening.. Smokey at his best, (but there is a whole collection of Smokey's best) definitely a classic. The Man is a phenomenon!

Smokey is the epitome of love songs but he didn't write this song.

Me too, Ericston, a member of the dbl. Nickle club (55). However, my great advantage is the air i breathed was that of the car making industry. The sights i saw, were of teens singing on street corners, and "bopping" to the Tempts, The Miracles, Mary Wells, 4 Tops and the Marvelettes. The rhythm i heard was that of groups of boys and girls harmoning in living rooms, kitchens and on porches, to whatever audience they could find. And the taste was that of Vernors, Faygo, Nu Grape, and Era potato chips, and going to Cunninghams on the Blvd.at, i believe, 12th st. Where they had a soda fountain, and made homemade malts and milk shakes,c and comic books. (Which advertised in the back, that they were willing to pay $,for your poems. The air I breathed, i was born and created in "Motown". What a place, what a time...

This man is by far the greatest crooner ever, past, present and future. I have loved his voice well over 50 years. It just gets better with time.

Dude. This is a MIRACLES song. Not Smokey solo. To minimize the importance of THE MIRACLES is a MISTAKE. They were simply one of the GREATEST GROUPS of ALL TIME !!! Smokey himself knows this. That is the reason why he pushed so hard to get the rest of the Miracles inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame after they inducted him solo. He KNEW just how important they were.
...and he made SURE that HE was the one who inducted them.
He didn't SING the songs alone, nor did he WRITE them alone.
Most people today who try to DOWNPLAY The Miracles' importance and Impact, are usually people who were born AFTER The Miracles broke up. All they know is "Smokey"
I say, talk to people who are OLDER...who were actually AROUND when The Miracles first came to prominence....you'll learn just how important they REALLY were.
"Without THE MIRACLES , The Motown Record Corporation would NOT have been possible."- Berry Gordy Jr.
MARV TARPLIN wrote much of the music for Smokey's lyrics. PETE MOORE did all of the group's vocal harmony arrangements. CLAUDETTE added a crucial female sound to the group. MARV, PETE , BOBBY ROGERS and RONNIE WHITE all co-wrote the Miracles tunes...along with songs by The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Mary Wells, and numerous other artists...and PETE, and RONNIE doubled as PRODUCERS, TOO.
ALL of the male members of The Miracles are BMI Award-winning Songwriters, and 3 of them are also ASCAP Award-winning songwriters as well.
The MIRACLES were NEVER, EVER just A ONE-MAN show !!

Sorry folks but I have to disagree over comments made about the success of the Miracles being more than Smokey. Smokey was a success when he went solo and well The Miracles were never the same without him. Sure the others complimented him very good but Smokey has it all and he still does.

    E.... E....

The Miracles had two number ones after smokey

    E.... E....

...And Smokey wrote NEITHER. PETE wrote one of them. People are always talkin' smack about The Miracles being NOTHING without Smokey. These people don't realize that the BIGGEST hit single AND biggest hit ALBUM The Miracles EVER had were AFTER Smokey left. (LOVE MACHINE and CITY OF ANGELS). Love Machine sold *4.5 MILLION COPIES*...and "CITY OF ANGELS went DOUBLE PLATINUM .DO IT BABY was a million-plus seller TOO...and DON'T-CHA LOVE IT went Top 10 R&B...ALL without Smokey.
The only reason that the Miracles didn't have MORE hits without Smokey was because, Berry & Smokey are BEST FRIENDS...and once Smokey left The Miracles, all of Motown's promotional dollars were spent pushing SMOKEY'S SOLO CAREER.(Same thing with The Supremes and Ross) and The Miracles got little or NONE . Motown actually STOPPED a HIT on The Miracles with their premiere post-Smokey song.."WHAT IS A HEART GOOD FOR". The Miracles sang it on Soul Train...and BROUGHT DOWN THE HOUSE !!! But , just as the song started to get airplay, Motown PULLED the song for "reasons unknown". Only TWO people inside Motown had the power to do THAT....and you KNOW which two !!

  17. l.... ....

He actually didn't write this song at all (Clarence Paul, Morris Broadnax). However, he sung it as if he could have done so himself. This is literally one of my all-time favorite songs by this group. It's criminal it wound up being filler to their album. >.<

He's like a 60s William Shakespeare to me

CDCANDIES - Thanks for your on-the-money music beliefs. Educate us, please. You're right. Smokey is amazingly gifted, and has given us many hundreds of songs to mirror all our reasons to believe in love, and therefore ourselves. Though they seem to come around only rarely; Smokey is one of the many talented songwriter/singers who've made our lives inspired and better ones, and I'm very grateful that good fortune brings to us people like him. Thanks again. TheBrotherBuzz.
